    Despite all the bashing and speaking on how "horrible" it is, it's a FANTASTIC LENS for someone on a budget, who cares if it's a little loud, who cares of it's little defects. For budget shooters that's looking for a lens thats not the now 4x the inflated price but don't want to use any of the stock lenses, this is the perfect choice. All of that you mentioned aside of the motor being loud can be compensated in the field just before your session or processed out in Capture One is seconds. New people, I'd disregard all his (Cons) portions of this and not focus on finding better, if you are on a budget and want a better lens, for $200 bucks for goodness sakes, you will have improved shots that everybody would adore and will make you money. The AF on this works flawlessly, it's a little slow but lets face it, it's not a $2,780 lens people, it's a $200 lens that competes and beats stock lens. Get it!

      I really love the look and I don't really care at all about autofocus, I want something for talking head videos that blocks out the background well. You seem knowledgeable, do you think that I could use this lens for talking head on a tripod about 5-6 feet away and get a reasonable amount of my head and shoulders framed or would it be too tight?

Please try to post some professional and reasonable reviews so who can only afford this lens can watch and get inspiration from a great photographer like you. Thanks.

      @@thefrostyvette876 If that's what you think, then I'm sorry to say that it is you who missed the point. I very much enjoyed the lens optically. But if I were to avoid any/all the negatives, I might as well just delete my channel, because it would serve absolutely no purpose.
      Or I could just accept money from all the brands who offer it to me and say nothing but positives all day? That would be much more profitable I suppose...

    I got the lens and it does a very good job when it comes to AF. I don't see any hunting or misses. Maybe you got a defective unit or maybe it does not play nice with your camera for some reason? I used it with A7ii, A7R, A7iii and a6000 and it was really good with all four cameras

    I've been using this lens for a few years now. It's not possible to take photos against the light with it. The light leak is so huge that it ruins the photo. This means that shooting in a studio with flashes is very difficult. Shooting outdoors, if you want to have the sun in your model´s hair... Very difficult. It's interesting that on APS-C it's not as noticeable as on Full-frame. Chromatic aberration at open aperture in high contrast areas, but something can be done about that in post-production. However, it is excellent for shooting in diffused light.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  5 месяцев назад

      As mentioned in the video, it’s very much a plus and a minus to me. If you Want wild and warm flaring, this will do it so much more easily, and beautifully, than other lenses. But obviously that can limit the applications for this lens lol.
      Thankfully it’s not a huge investment, so is fine for a niche use.

    Why do people have an allergy to finding plastics on a lens? Photographers are more concerned about auto focus, vignetting, sharpness, color fringing on a lens.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  6 месяцев назад +2

      Build quality is only one section. But the chassis of this lens feels very thin. Whereas a polycarbonate bodied gmaster lens feels very thick and rugged. You can tell pretty easily when you tap the surface of a lens how much resilience it likely has. And I’ve unfortunately dropped many GM lenses at this point and have yet to break one. I did drop an older/cheaper Viltrox lens about 1.5 feet which internally broke on impact. Build quality matters!
