As suggested, change my language to English US instead of English Canada, and the reminders work and speech outwork work and I can make Assistant make a phone call however Still broken: - SMS shows the broken cloud when trying to send text - Ok Google hotword doesn't work.
@@JSyntax the OK Google is not working for ages now in wear OS. SMS would only work with messages app, assistant send seems to be broken. For Assistant audio, my fossil gen 5 has a option on top left side of quick access menu, the menu we see when we drag from top. Checkout if that is enabled. You have made it so far... Answering text using Google assistant also works fine too. My watch is a Ticwatch Pro 4G/LTE and I am only using bluetooth, never tried using Verizon. I never see the google cloud icon and I am connected 100% of the time with wifi and bluetooth using my Galaxy S10+ international phone. Also the Google assistant always replies with audio and text, it even displays images too for many of my questions.

I set my phone and assistant to English US and it's working now :) I lose out on the regional accent but ohh well, not a huge deal.
For anyone here around with the same issue; I'm from Mexico and set up the language on my phone system as English USA in order to have Google assistant controlling my smart devices on my house, and set up the gboard as Spanish so I can reply messages, but hot word 'hey/ok Google' seems to be a general Wear OS issue that Google already claimed as acknowledge and working on it but with no solution still.
I live in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. Having to switch the language settings on my android-smartphone and Google Assistant to US English in order to get Google Assistant working on Wear OS is to me unacceptable. As long as this isn't resolved, I can't justify paying €300 for a newer Wear OS smartwatch.
I have exactly the same problem! Oh my god, it is driving me crazy. My Fossil Q Explorist gen 3 is not able to send WhatsApp messages by means of the Google Assistant anymore. And in general, using the assistant is such a struggle. That's it! "couldn't connect to phone". It is such a fundamental feature for me when I am walking and I quickly need to send a text just by using my voice. It's one claimed functionality of the watch that is broken for more than one year. I would claim to be refunded for that.
Ordered mine last night...will check this out...so I did a Thumbs Up because really the issue is a Thumbs down. Hope they fix it OR we can figure out somewhere in settings to correct it.

The Google assistant on wear OS can not answer some questions like play news ,or playing videos you want , but the Google assistant on a full Android watch like kospet optimus 2 can be ALL mighty ! It can play certain topic of news you want to hear , play any topic of video from RUclips, pull up search result from Google ,and open any webpages , So the Google assistant on wear OS can Not do any of these things , which is shitty compared to a fully functioning Google assistant on a Kospet Optimistic 2,
Hey, I had similar issues when I first time used the tic watch , but as far as I can see, the tic watch is No match for Kospet Optimus 2 which has Full Android , especially when you don't care much about the health features ,

I do have the TickWatch pro 2020, and i dont have such issues, although i do remember having some of them (like the permissions issue with the phone call), and i cant really remember how i solved them, but i can say that all of them were fully resolved eventually (Most of them by Google app update or playing around with the settings). I hope everything will work for you properly soon though.
I'm experiencing the same problems with my Skagen flaster 3. I bought this watch to help in the clinical setting.I am a student nurse. This watch was 350 dollars. I'm very disappointed that the features I need are not working. I will try reseting the language to english USA. Please let the community know if you have any other updates on this. Cheers

Me too. I've posted a short video showing assistant on my Gen5 being goofy. I lodged a support ticket with Fossil who say all of the assistant issues are across all Wear OS current watches and that Google are aware and working in a fix.

I just ordered this watch about 2 hours ago I currently have an active two and had the fossil gen five but hate the notification system on the Galaxy watches hopefully this is a better watch than the fossil and watch active
I have the active 2 and my pro 3 arrived yesterday. It is way larger and not as comfortable as the active 2. But google assistant is way better than bigsby even with this glitches . They will fix it soon I am sure, google assistant is a big selling point . It does not has water mode like the active 2! I miss that feature, you can either lock the screen with a link or pattern or set it to essential mode while showering or swimming . Battery life is better than the active 2 but if you start playing with it it will drain fast. Make sure you go into the play store in your watch when you get it and update all the apps. Overall I like it and will probably keep it.
I tried language changes but it didn't help with Google assistant. Going in to personalisation on the watch and removing then re-adding my Google account fixed it.
You will get it if you use it for notifications and the occasional phone call. But if you are the one who will play on your watch a lot it won't last that long. You will need a Huawei watch for that. But those are not real smart watches like this one.

I bought the TWP3 due to the best specs and glowing reviews all over YT and the internet. Unboxed it today and Google Assistant is completely useless. No audio response, won't send SMS, WhatsApp or make calls. Won't control any of my Google Home devices. This thing is pretty useless. Ordered a Samsung Galaxy Watch at the same time planning to return it if the TWP3 lived up to the hype but sadly it looks like the TicWatch is the one I'm returning. Even Bixby is more functional than Google Assistant. The thing I find really irritating is that most reviews don't even mention this. It's a pretty big deal to have such a vital part of the OS broken for more than 6 months with no fix in sight and the manufacturer doesn't even acknowledge the problem.

Still won't send SMS or Whatsapp messages using Google Assistant but most Google Assistant functionality is there. Is now actually controlling my google home devices better than the Galaxy Watch running SmartThings. Returning the Galaxy Watch and sticking with the TWP3. Hopefully it keeps getting better with updates and Googles new found interest in the Wear OS platform (FitBit acquisition)

Hi, I am in the UK with Assistant set to UK English. I have just tested this (with my TW Pro 2020) and I just set a reminder and made a call from Assistant on the watch. Is UK English fully enabled like US English?
I suspect it is google but not sure. I have a Ticwatch 2020 where I can make calls from and receive but with my new Ticwatch pro 3 with the new chip will not do anything. What a nightmare. So sad for android/google. My Samsung watches are flawless what a mess. Apple is great too. What is wrong with a billion dollar company, google not to make a system that is universal for the latest smart watches?
I got my reminder function working with setting my phone and assistant to English US and you have to remove the updates from you Google app on your phone. The latest Google app version doesn't work with the one on the watch. Hope that helps
I have no idea whats wrong with mine. I ended up returning my ticwatch pro 3 because i didn't get an audible response from the google assistant. I bought a fossil gen 5 and it does the same thing. the language is set to English USA. I tried to change it to English Canada, then back again. I am beyond frustrated

Hello JSyntax, To solve the speech output issue, you need to slide the TicWatch Pro 3 screen from left to right, where you will see the mike for the Google Assistant, then scroll down and hit the setting icon to activate the speech output.
I have a TW Pro 3. When i voice record my Reminder, it always fails to save the reminder to my phone and it displays the "broken cloud" icon, watch is Bluetooth connected. You guys have suggestions how to fix this? Thanks.
Did you get the memo that Canadian users need to set their phone's language setting to USA English for any of the Assistant features to work? I certainly did not. Maybe you're fortunate to live in the USA and have your phone set to USA English by default :)

@@eddieU I found the option! You have to long press the bottom button and a menu appears with the option to drain speaker.

I have it on UK English and can set reminders with Google Assistant. Still working on OK Google recognition.
As of today, my ticwatch pro LTE and ticwatch pro 3 gps, both running Wear OS 2.31 still cannot tell google assistant to navigate to places.

Great demo of a self-proclaimed developer not being able to properly set up a device, and blaming the device for known issues in the base OS.
