I haven’t even finished watching but I’m already really liking the interview between Kyle and Steve. As someone who wants to be apart of the industry via RUclips, 5:26 was a really cool question and it was cool to hear Steve’s answer. This video has been really good so far and I hope you guys continue these awesome videos. Happy to see you guys back making videos and I’m glad Kyle’s feeling better Edit: I finished watching the video and I just have to say I love the style of these videos. I also have to say, Aprils progression has been sooo good lately and it’s really cool to see Kyle back on the bike again helping here with features. The downhill looks like loads of fun but definitely not a trail you do by yourself!
Thanks Ryan! You have so much potential in the sport and we can’t wait to see where you take your channel! Can’t wait to ride with you when we get back home!!
Love it when you two drop a video. While I am not a fan of hardtails, I am a fan of bikes and his bike looked sharp. I think I like April’s the best though. April, you took that first drop in faster than I thought you would…that was smooth af!! Nice! Wow it’s beautiful there. Kyle is sneaky intelligent, I dig his sense of humor. I think he is a natural teacher. I starting watching this channel for tips and have learned SO much….Kyle’s way had me subscribing after like 1 or 2 videos…Yeah I pretty much love this channel. Super cool to see your riding, camera time and editing skills all improving at the same time April. Ya’ll remember you have some fans (at least one lol ) that have a eMTB and would LOVE to see you two back on your eMTBs. Awesome video, again. Be safe, have fun and I can’t wait for the next one. Kyle is looking healthier in each video….big sigh of relief. ❤
Hey Everyone! Hope you enjoy the video! It was so fun riding with Tess & Steve and getting to show April Highline for the first time. This trail is very challenging but also very rewarding to accomplish. I think It took us around 2 -3 hours with some stopping and filming. We have addend a trailforks ride plan in the description for anyone wanting to know the distance and elevation profile. We forgot to turn April's gopro on for the first climb to the summit which is why its mostly Steve and Kyle for the first part of the video. We plan on being at the Sedona Festival coming up next weekend and we are scheduled to lead some group rides for Shimano while we are there! We hope to see some of you there and possibly even catch a ride together! Thanks again for watching and hope you have an awesome weekend!
Great video! Lots of good stuff. I miss Sedona a bunch. Hardtails Rock! Although I’ll admit I’m moving to a FS after 15yrs on hardtails. I guess I’m old. 😳 If you’re inclined, hit up the Wanderlust Brewing tent at the festival. Tell Nathan, the owner, I sent you. 😎
Fun video, with lots of solid commentaries and well edited to highlight the key (fun) sections. It's such a fun trail that can be done pretty quickly (60-90 mins from Red Agave), or if in a group, you can take time to check out the features, typically a 2+ hour ride. One of my favourite places to ride, can't wait to get back.
I ran into Tess & Steve on Bottom-out last year and the vibe was that of “a rising tide lifts all vessels” fantastic to ride with such a supportive couple.
As I've been getting into moutain biking I am impressed with how nice everyone is. Kyle and April are no exception! Great videos and I really love your "How To" vid's!
JUST a week ago, maybe 10 days... I hiked up the back side of HiLine.... Up to that point where they rolled down beside the tree. The Chute... If you've never been there, the go-pro effect is HUGE on this video! Meaning - it is a LOT steeper than it looks! April - YOU rock. I mean, for me - MOST of that stuff is just NOPE! Kyle with Steve following down the drain lines - I saw you take at least 3 lines that blew my mind! I had NO idea those were even lines. Nevermind the normal lines! These things are HARD to hike up and down - and Kyle you are making it look like a day on a boardwalk! DAMN you're smooth! LOVE this footage!
April, you're a bad ass woman! Kyle, you are such a wonderful coach! I recently had hip surgery due to a mountain biking crash off a jump. Since then, I went on RUclips to find videos on proper riding techniques and form. Your channel is by far the best!!! I will be incorporating what I have learned from you both into my riding now. The passion for what you do really shows too
Thank you so much Talicia, we love trying to help people ride safer and enjoy things out on the trail! We plan on doing a lot more content around tutorials this year and hope you find them helpful as well!
Seeing Steve ride his Ht on a trail at such a vantage point is a fresh perspective of what he sees & how he deals with the trail. Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines! #RideOn #KeepBiking
Great video, huge fan of Steve and his channel, too. So much so that I bought his bike. Once my kid gets a little older, I really want to vacation here to do some riding.
Tess & Steve are awesome people. Had an amazing ride with them up in Downieville once. So much fun. They have great personalities. Love every chance I get to hang out with them.
Thank you! Yeah i feel 95-100% now, especially after the month of training i did in Jan/Feb. Just posted a big update on my instagram yesterday but we are so excited to be back out on the trails and riding again!
What an awesome video! All my RUclips “favorites” in one place. Love watching down to earth couples mountain bike together and authentically enjoy it. Thanks for the great content!
As a roadie down here in Tucson, I admire and am amazed with the skill required to do this. This is arguably one of the best trail biking videos I’ve ever seen. The riding, camera shots, scenery, everything! Incredible!
Thanks for watching! We are hoping this will help some people see the trail and learn some of the harder moves for the first time. Its definitely a technical one on the way down!
Went to Sedona about 12 years ago, rented bikes and just had hardtails. Great place to ride and great scenery. Some things I miss about Arizona and this place is one of them. Wish I would have cherished more of my time there to be honest nice place to mountain bike.
Thanks for sharing this technical riding school, wow! I guess the other trail that gets a lot of attention for the tech and see why. Steve and Betty have great content and Steve has the most information on the details of hardtail bikes and frames better than anyone else. #hardtailparty
Wow, way cool. That trail is waaaaay harder than it looks on camera. That section at the very beginning of the downhill is pretty sketch, and April hit it like a boss. I like seeing her continue to progress and increasing her confidence. And then of course Kyle clears sections that most of us don't think are even possible. You guys are always fun to watch, so keep it up! Ride safe and have fun.
Thanks so much for watching Matt! Yeah that trail is so gnarly in person haha, i was really proud of April at the top too! That turn is scary, plus hitting the first half of the chute was awesome!
@@bounce12011I actually love hardtails. If I didn't, I wouldn't have started a channel about them. Hardtails are my true love, but my job is mountain biking and sometimes my body needs a break from hardtails. I know it's easy to make snap judgments and assumptions about people we don't know, but I recommend truly getting to know people before assuming the worst in them. Most people out there in life are quite genuine and wonderful people. Two of my 3 FS bikes were given to me and I haven't really fallen in love with them. I struggle to find FS bikes that I love.
@@hardtailparty You're right, I did make a snap judgment and deleted my reply. Your channel has always preached getting back to simple and away from the pretentiousness. The $300 bike challenge & Klunker challenge was a great highlight of that theme. When I heard you have three FS bikes, I thought you bought them and it felt antithetical to the theme of your channel. I was wrong.
Wow, April looks in total command of the bike in these technical sections, great to see! Also, seeing Kyle tackle the chute at race speed was a sight to behold. Great to see this collaboration, Steve's and your channels are my favorite mtb content by far
Wow! April it's amazing to see you crush this trail after only mountain biking a couple of years. VERY impressive. Kyle - you are truly super human! Your skills are above and beyond and my jaw dropped a couple of times watching some of the things you pulled off. I love how you keep it fun, encourage others, and stay humble, even though you are basically superman, lol. Another fantastic video. Thanks to both of you and keep up the great work!
What an amazing trail, I think we were able to appreciate the scenery better than you could. Again I am so impressed with April's achievements. Brilliant video.
Absolutely love both channels for different reasons, and that's ok. Also gonna subscribe to Dusty Betty now. Sooo can't wait for the weather to get better around Utah so we can get out more. Sedona is on the bucket lost one of these days. Great video guys and gals!
It has been a while but really enjoyed this video. Great job w/ the editing and thank you for showing the trail up close. That was some awesome technical climbing Kyle. I wish I could climb nearly as good. Sick video, Kyle. 🫵
I’ve watched several hiline videos and have ridden it myself, Kyle you make everything look so smooth. You are an incredible rider. Glad your health is coming around. Keep making the tutorials!!
Thanks for the video. That was one pretty hard day out. Very rocky and very steep in so many places. 'A lot of people get over their head on this one'. I can imagine, even at slow speeds (love the way Kyle can effortlessly go race mode at any point). Thankfully, I'm safe watching it from here. Great scenery too. Nice going with friends.
Thanks so much Mr smith! Yeah its a really technical trail that many people can underestimate the way its been talked about for years. Glad you enjoyed the scenery, its beautiful out there!
I saw you kyle last saturday at sedona mountain bike festival around 4-5pm last saturday. It's an honor to see MTB youtubers in the festival. looking forward to watch your vids.
The most amazing video you guys have done so far......was loving every moment of it.... Please try and do more videos of you both riding on trails like this..... Ride Safe!!!
@@AprilRideMTB please do more videos of you both riding technical stuff. Also.... I have noticed you guys are not posting videos quite often now and I was really waiting for a video till I saw this one.
Loved this video. I like the double mic! I feel like April did the toughest part of the chute. The part right after the chute is the hardest part of Hiline in my opinion. You guys rocked it!
Thank you! Kyle has done the White Line, I hiked it absolutely terrified and it's safe to say I will never try it haha Here's the video of Kyle doing it ruclips.net/video/79CsyxIFDqM/видео.html
Probably been mountain biking longer than any of your other viewers (Larkspur, 1977). Love your advice. Really works, and is fun. But hey, Highline is a blast, and yes, the downhills are terrifying for most folks (me included). Full disclosure, I always walked the most technical sections.
Hey Randy! Yeah i was glad when Steve talked about how many people end up getting in over their head on Highline. There are some very technical sections that just aren't quite worth it for a lot of people but for those who enjoy the adventure, scenery, and challenge of it all it is a great ride!
Great video and inspired riding as usual! I hit the Sedona trails today for the first time - not ready for high line, but did a nice 12 mile loop with Chuckwagon, Mescal, Aerie lower/upper, etc. What a great place to ride!
Great job guys, loved you all mixing it up and breaking down specific techniques for various levels of trail difficulty and how to tackle the harder and more unique features found on this trail, definitely learnt a lot to help me step up my game on the trails. Keep up the good work.
@@AprilRideMTB did Niner cancelled their booth at the Sedona MTB festival? We walked all the booths today , but did no see you guys or the Niner booth.
Goli! Kyle that's some crazy trails and u just smoke it like nothing Man! Kudos to you..and April she's so good just smoking those boulders..Dynamite!! Job Guys
April I just bought the Sam's ride wrap as you, ordered it yesterday and watched this video today! Lol. Looks cool, great ride you guys me and some friends hope to hit Sedona at some point this year.
great riding kyle! you seem like you’re in pretty good shape. the templeton climb is brutal. i always think i’m going to session those switchbacks, but always dead tired by the time i get there. great video.
Finally get to watch Steve ride in 3rd person. You know he's a great rider but it's hard to fully realize that from a 1st person perspective! Great channel collabo!
Great video and awesome to see April’s progression and confidence in tackling such technical trails. I have just bought a full suspension MTB and will be very happy to learn just a fraction of what she is now capable of. You are a great coach Kyle.
Steve is a great guy his chanel is one of my favorites he knows so much about geometry and stuff and he is the reason why i dont have full suspension any more
Great video mate well done. Can’t believe you actually clip in on those trails. For me if I was falling to either side I’d never get I clipped in time so I take my hat of to you for that one. 😮
You and me both! haha i was on flat pedals all trip and the day before in Phoenix i kept losing my feet and got frustrated so i threw the clip pedals back on and didn't think about the exposure haha. if it makes it any better i do run the easy release cleats from crankbrothers.
Thanks William! Yeah it pays to look at the features plus it all adds to the database in your head so when you do randomly come up on something sketchy you have a good idea of how it will ride. We have tried to be pretty safe with Aprils learning curve but she's definitely getting to the point where the lines have much more consequence now so stopping and looking is a must :)
I share Steve's perspective on the use of hardtails in mountainbiking. If I may add, biking on a hardtail is a humbling experience. It begs me to be a disciplined rider.
Great video and review of the trail as me and my wife will be out there at the end of March. Steve had a great comment about working your way up to riding that trail vs hitting it just cuz its a must do trail. BTW what sunglasses are you and April rocking? You had all your gear question listed except the glasses. I see you guys are traveling in the Van. Please reach out if you get near Atlanta, GA. You can park the van here while we show you what Georgia has to offer. Keep Shred'n !!
Hey thanks so much for offer! April and I are running the Smith glasses. We really like them! If you want a fun but mellower ride while in Sedona definitely check out slim shady and adobe jack!
It's great that Kyle goes over his set up before the tech section"..seatpost about 2 inches up, I'm in my second to easiest gear..." being prepared rather than rushing into a difficult section gives you more confidence. Love Kyle and April's style.

So glad to see you fully back in the game, Kyle. Chapeau.
Love it! Heading down to Sedona later this year, can't wait!
Awesome video as always. It shows how special a rider you are and April is just inspiring...
Thank you so much Nonie! 😊
Nice that you guys are back!
Thanks Thomas! Yeah we are glad to be back, hoping to put out some fun videos this year!!
The most amazing video you guys have done so far......was loving every moment of it.... Please try and do more videos of you both riding on trails like this..... Ride Safe!!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
@@AprilRideMTB please do more videos of you both riding technical stuff. Also.... I have noticed you guys are not posting videos quite often now and I was really waiting for a video till I saw this one.
Two of my favorite youtube bikers. Awesome to see yall come together.
Great run. Love watching you both on your channel here.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Thanks for taking us along on an amazing ride!
Glad you enjoyed it Len!
Loved this video. I like the double mic! I feel like April did the toughest part of the chute. The part right after the chute is the hardest part of Hiline in my opinion. You guys rocked it!
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks for the kind words too Jeff!
Nice riding everyone! Sedona trails so nice, some of the best. Glad you're recovering well, Kyle. Love your channel! White Line next???
RV in da house…?!? Legend ! 🤛
I rode this last summer and walked many descents as well. Amazing trail
Another fun video. Skills Kyle! Yeah. And good job April. Aloha!
Thanks so much Grant! Hope you have been doing awesome :)
Nice to see Steve on a 2nd person view! Great video! Hardtails rock
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great interview with Steve. And just watching trails with exposure weirds me out. Guess that's what growing up in middle America can do for you. 😆
Thanks! So glad you enjoyed! Yeah the exposure is so gnarly haha!
Awesome video, such good riders and awesome trails …keep em coming 😎🏁
Great video and inspired riding as usual! I hit the Sedona trails today for the first time - not ready for high line, but did a nice 12 mile loop with Chuckwagon, Mescal, Aerie lower/upper, etc. What a great place to ride!
Yaaaaay some of my favorite youtubers all in one video 🤙🏻
Thanks Dirt Wolf!!
The tech in Sedona is insane. Nice trail guide and tips how to take some of the features.
Yeah so gnarly haha! Lots of fun little lines everywhere!!
Great job guys, loved you all mixing it up and breaking down specific techniques for various levels of trail difficulty and how to tackle the harder and more unique features found on this trail, definitely learnt a lot to help me step up my game on the trails. Keep up the good work.
Glad it was helpful!
Very Nice breakdown of the “Shute”, looking forward on trying this later this week . Can’t wait for the MTB festival. See you guys at the niner booth.
Thanks so much Koji!!
@@AprilRideMTB did Niner cancelled their booth at the Sedona MTB festival? We walked all the booths today , but did no see you guys or the Niner booth.
Like Marvel's Avengers on mountain bikes. Love this team up!
Glad you are feeling better Kyle. Looking strong
Goli! Kyle that's some crazy trails and u just smoke it like nothing Man! Kudos to you..and April she's so good just smoking those boulders..Dynamite!! Job Guys
Thanks so much!
April I just bought the Sam's ride wrap as you, ordered it yesterday and watched this video today! Lol. Looks cool, great ride you guys me and some friends hope to hit Sedona at some point this year.
Thats awesome! We really love the AMS stuff! Its gonna look awesome!
great riding kyle! you seem like you’re in pretty good shape. the templeton climb is brutal. i always think i’m going to session those switchbacks, but always dead tired by the time i get there.
great video.
Yeah thank you! I am feeling super good lately! That section is brutal for sure haha!
Finally get to watch Steve ride in 3rd person. You know he's a great rider but it's hard to fully realize that from a 1st person perspective! Great channel collabo!
So much fun riding with him and Tess, they ride so well!
Great video and awesome to see April’s progression and confidence in tackling such technical trails. I have just bought a full suspension MTB and will be very happy to learn just a fraction of what she is now capable of. You are a great coach Kyle.
Steve is a great guy his chanel is one of my favorites he knows so much about geometry and stuff and he is the reason why i dont have full suspension any more
That scenery is stunning. Red rock every where.
Yeah its so beautiful out there!
Don’t get me wrong I do switch to my fast release clip in pedals around April to October and my flats for the remaining wetter 6 month in Scotland.
Great video! And a massive thanks for the nuggets on how to build a RUclips channel
I love how you take your time to find the correct live before you rush in full force. Many accidents would be avoided if more people did this.
@@AprilRideMTB Smith Attack Mag?
It's great that Kyle goes over his set up before the tech section"..seatpost about 2 inches up, I'm in my second to easiest gear..." being prepared rather than rushing into a difficult section gives you more confidence. Love Kyle and April's style.
Glad you enjoyed it!
