What's even more interesting is that I did this exact thing a year ago and of course it worked....that is until the controller broke and I bought a new one. Worked perfectly for a PDP Wired Classic Xbox 1 Artic White controller, you have to install the driver from there own website but windows 7 just won't load the driver for it when you plug in the controller after driver install. So doing this show PDP and all there controller drivers select the right one you have mine Artic White and it install and worked fine cheers I haven't done this way since Windows XP lol

Hey man, I know I'm a bit late but at 3:16 it doesnt show the Microsoft Xbox One Controller on the right anywhere, it only shows me XBOX 360 Controller variations at the bottom.
Tried like 10 different tutorials after this being my second attempt of making an xbox one controller work in windows 7 in years, was about to give up again until i found this and finally got it working after all this time. You're a legend.
ONE BIG TIP: Take out your batteries as you connect your XBOX One Controller to Win 7, probably might apply to Win 10 over USB Cable. This is to install the Xbox One drivers. The batteries are in the way.
I don't know what i have make, this tutorial have not work while the update i have got a error and the driver have not been installed but i have tried to install windows 10 i have got a blue screen, omg... and the install have restored my pc to windows 7 lol so all this have restarted my pc many times and now my xbox one controller work lol.
