BEGINNER'S GUIDE - Onefinity CNC - How to Program & Run Your First Job Using Vectric - PART 1 of 2

  • Details on how you can get started with your @Onefinity CNC using V Carve Pro can be found in this video. We go over how to import a tool database to your software, design a basic profile tool path, learn about 3D toolpath animations and how that can help you seal the deal when pitching a project to a client, and saving the file as G-Code as well as a regular working project on your computer. The Part 2 video comes out next week and shows you all the steps to complete the job starting from turning on your machine to homing, probing for XYZ, router speed setting, and so much more! I am a beginner CNC user and am sharing things in real time as I learn them because I find that teaching forces me to learn it better for myself. Please comment with any suggestions you may have or feel free to reach out to me on Instagram @oakhillmillworks. Cheers!

I cannot begin to tell you how much this helped me!!!! So simple and straightforward and doesn't assume that as beginners we know all the "buzz" words. I have been struggling for months trying to get started. I watch both parts of this and headed to the shop and FINALLY it all came together and I was able to cut something. Nothing dramatic, but at least now I know what to do. THANK YOU so much!

Besides your site, I have to say Mark Lindsay is one of the best tutorials on vcarve.... bar none.
I started out blind with cnc. I knew nothing and expected nothing in the beginning. Watching Mark can be a little annoying because he talks slow, but you'll realize quickly he does this because he packs so much information in each tutorial. I soon was digging in vcarve and learning more on my own.
I don't plan to sell anything. I make things for the local neighborhood with children for free. Getting a note from the kids is all I need:)

Fantastic video, Christy! As you know I use Fusion 360. But I may dip my toes in to the V-Carve world here soon when I get the woodworker X50 in. I use Fusion because it was fitting my needs more than V-Carve would have by a mile. But I would like to do some actual carving with the new machine lol. (I seriously can't wait to get that thing in). Lol I almost offered OF up in Toronto to literally drive up, assemble it in their shop, test it and pack it back up. No joke. When you have stuff that you need to get done and waiting on the machine that is going to do it...a little frustrating to have to wait.

I have heard that fusion 360 is awesome! I don’t know people who use it with the 1F but I would encourage you to join the Facebook onefinity group if you haven’t already. Do you know if you can download the speeds and speeds from places like bits and bits before you have a machine? Just looking to get some of those things up and running to help reduce down time when the machine arrives.

Hey Jeremy! Thanks for watching! I’m excited to share the next half next week. Probably on Wednesday. - you can absolutely download the tool database at any point. The tools today version comes in a regular file you can print out and then you could highlight the bits you plan to use and just have the settings on paper. I didn’t try to open the bits and bits file in anything other than vectric but it is just a regular file you can download.
