Hey man, nice to see what's up. I have some things from some of those musicians too: Klemmer, Purim, the Crusaders, and yeah, really good stuff. Other's I'll keep an eye out for, thanks.
Love your podcast! I do think your videos are better when the album is closer to the screen. Yeah, I'm 65 . Got old eyes ya know! I dig all your fusion and free jazz pics. It's became my favorite style of music over the years.
I love it when you say "if you feel a little poor" definitely can relate. While prices are a little higher here for those records than your estimations, they are still rather affordable and some of those I have seen a tons of times. Those Klemmers are not to be found though. The inly one I've ever seen and own is Waterfall
Great selections Dave! Couldn’t agree more with everything . I think that Klemmer Magic & Movement is great! But the real banger is Klemmer’s LP titled “Eruption” probably one of his last on Cadet. Peace! JC
Used to have that... you basically can’t go wrong with John Klemmer until you get to “Fresh Feathers”. His later LPs for Arista and Elektra / Musician aren’t too bad either.
Barefootin' on cheap heat recs.....like the new view.....thanks for the showings..... Flora doesn't get much love......i only have her debut in Brazil "Flora" i believe and the amazing one with Airto burried in the sand in the cover i think his second....also mr Mann had some great recs and played with wonderful musicians.....my kind regards.....
Haha yeah I never wear shoes in the home... didn’t realize my big ol’ feet were so plainly visible until after I posted the video! Glad you dug my LP choices... need to feature Airto’s great LPs in a future episode!!
I got those crusaders records at Kmart in 1975 I believe when they were deleted also picked up Southern comfort all three are great records in my opinion. I listened to them a lot as I didn't have a lot of jazz records back then. Almost 50 years ago now. About 15 years ago I bought the crusaders the second crusade double album out of Japan very good record as well and great sounding. I also picked up Les McCann layers in 1974 also one of my favorite records is returned to forever light as a feather with Flora plurum on it I bought that butterfly record because it had everybody that I love on there but for some reason I don't have it anymore just didn't click I guess enjoyed the video thank you.
Bozzio on Brecker's was after Zappa. Then Vinnie went in to play with Frank, then David Logerman (excellent drummer), then Vinnie back again, then Chad Wackerman. Bozzio went to U.K. with Eddie Jobson & John Wetton after some touring and some studio work, then formed Missing Persons with Warren Cuccurullo and, Terry's then wife, Dale. That group cut 3 albums and an E.P. but I really can only recommend the E.P. and Spring Session M as Terry switched to using electronic drums after those and I bailed out at that point.
Have passed by the Herbie Mann and Les McCann tons of times. Will scoop them up next go. The Liebman I definitely will check out being a Hino completist.
Oh man... you GOTTA get “Invitation to Openness” it is all that and then some!!!!The Mann LPs with Sonny Sharrock are surprisingly good though maybe not 100% great listens & they’re basically everywhere.
@@El_Bicho_Feo Yes, one positive or negative with this fondness is you could end up with a million records or cds at some point. I've been digging for as long as you I imagine , late 70s' the passion kicked in, and might have 500 Lp's I'm keen on, or listen to.
I’ve a couple of Herbie Mann albums, one of which is a bit meh but I think the other, Memphis Underground is superb. It would come under your cheap heat banner as I only paid around £6 for it a few months ago in my local record shop.
Yeah I had to really think hard about including those… especially when he’s done several other LPs that I like more & a couple dozen that I don’t like at all😂. But I listened to these a few times and really dug what I was hearing… will check out Memphis Underground!!
I love the obscure stuff keep showing it!!! I live for it
Me too!! I’ll get back on it in the next video...
Nice video forsure always informative and well cared for

I just picked up the first Return to Forever so I need that first Flora on Milestone and the live one. Keep my eyes out for the Les McCann. Thanks!

I hear ya! I’ll move closer in the future. I do use closed captions, so be sure to turn those on… just click on the “CC” box on your screen.

Great video! I have some of these and wholeheartedly agree with your assessments. In fact, I’m realizing I should pull some of these out to play now.
Thanks, Mike! So many great LPs out there!!
Amazing music. Is that Kenny Barron playing all the video?
Yessir! That’s all of Side 1 of his LP “Innocence”.

You are easily pleased Dave! Crusaders a little under rated, a few of their 70's Lp's had their moments.
Guilty as charged! In certain genres, I tend to like almost everything as long as the music is well-executed.
