- James Corden known by many as The Late Late Show host found himself to be called out by the internet on an iconic Reddit post on r/IAMA.
He has had a wonderful career with a lot of exposure and opportunity. Known very well for his hit comedy series Gavin and Stacy in the UK, James had a quick rise to fame and was found to be well-favoured by the general public.
It wasn't till later where his true colours were shown as many people came out to share their experiences meeting meeting him in person. - Развлечения

And to be honest I didn't have a clue who he was!..

James Corden is Fat Gordon Ramsay trying to mask his true character.
I don't begrudge him for not wanting to take pictures with people, nobody is owed a picture with anyone. But treating his staff and service workers like garbage is unacceptable.
I don’t begrudge him for that either BUT I think those two kind of go hand in hand in a way.
He's a prick, but I totally understand why he would get pissed if someone is standing outside the bathroom stall for a picture while he's taking a shit.
I agree but he is perfectly capable of being honest with them and telling them no politely
Loved? Most hated?
he's just not memorable at all.
Just meh.
You are owed a picture in the VIP tent. You literally paid extra for it.
You will never hear the word “cunt” more than when a British person describes another British person
False, an Australian will say it once a sentence. I should know, I am one
Or when I play Elden Ring.
Yes, the C U Next Tuesdays.
As a British person; go to Australia for a day and have your mind blown.
thing is we have 2 uses for the word. We can use it as a term of endearment or as our worse insult. Calling someone a cunt in a cheery tone shows a strong level trust and familiarity between friends, calling someone a cunt in an aggressive or passive aggressive tone indicates a deep hatred. There are a few individuals who particularly garner the latter response, Corden is one of those individuals. That and a few other choice words. For the likes of Corden its usually a few more. And honestly, usually with people like him its not even cunt, cunt isn't good enough to get across our hatred.

@@Foulfellow I salute you for warning your friends.
The fact that he acknowledges his behaviour, yet shifts the blame from his personality to his career, is a bad sign. He's simply trying to set himself up to avoid taking responsibility for any future criticism. I hope society continues to see through it, and not give him a free pass.
James's problem isn't that he is drunk on fame.
The main problem is that he will do anything to keep that degree of 'importance' and even parrot mainstream misinformation just to stay relevant.

@@melissas7589 omg I thought I was the only one who suspected this
That's the one main thing that annoys me about him.
Hosts should always allow the guest act to perform uninterrupted, but Corden just cannot help trying to make himself the 'main act' and takes away the limelight from his guests.
Totally unprofessional and a high end act of utter twattery.
I always thought that he really dislikes himself and is so insecure, that's why he tries ti be cool, tries to show everyone that he loves himself and make everyone love him as well.
He’s like this in everything…even in gavin and Stacey, how many scenes were there when the whole cast was pandering to smithy because he was acting like a child? Corden wrote those scenes
First time I saw him was in Doctor Who and thought he was genuinely likeable as that character. But after he got his own show, for years I've wondered what his real personality was. Now I see that he probably started as happy-go-lucky Carpool Kareoke James then dwindled down to the "It's All About Me, I'M THE STAR" arsehole of Crosswalk The Musical, treading over iconic, humble celebrities and staff to make himself look more important. James can do beautiful things like take Paul McCartney to his childhood home and setup a surprise stage in a small pub to give Paul the feeling of being a kid again, but it doesn't outweigh all the awful things he's done to others.
Can you imagine acting like a spoiled brat after a show that aired and ended over 10 years ago, now THAT shows how fragile he already was

As a Brit I can say that I always hated him, and so did everyone I know. How he became famous is a mystery.
Agreed, although I'm not a brit, but have no idea where he came from or why he's on shows. In the U.S. Ive noticed, the media like to use a British accent person to either get attention or talk down to other characters in TV and movies, like they're stupid and beneath them. Case in point; the Devil wears Prada, the way what's her name English coworker girl talks down and insults Ann Hathaway character in that snooty accent, and rolls her eyes constantly and lm sure there's others. Oh and Gordon Ramsay too..
He was good as Smiffy, but the real JC is nasty.

I think part of the issue was transitioning away from playing characters to playing himself. With Gavin and Stacy, it was alright if his character was annoying sometimes, because he was still a well-written character that suited his performance style. However, when he started making himself into a persona as part of presenting, especially once the spotlight was put directly on him with the Late Late Show, that's where his less likeable traits began leaking through. Now every performance he does feels like a variation on himself instead of a character, and people keep letting him improv when he's not that great at it imo.
"Playing a character" he can't act, he's just himself, a bellend.

The only time I've seen when he wasn't a dick and sincere was when he addressed the Manchester Bombing on the late late show in 2017.
The thing that rubbed me the worst is when he had an animal expert, and they brought a Turkey and he was only interested in eating that. I think thats the best way to deal with fame. They're actors and story-tellers that have some small ressemblance of confidence, but they're still people at the end of the day. No-one is above anyone else, and once you forget that, you do indeed become James Corden :/
@@ktm125sxbeast do people like celebrities that eat bananas?
I think this phenomenon must hit late-night hosts particularly hard. Kimmel, Colbert, Corden, Fallon, and Seth Meyers were all pretty much universally liked back in the early days when they were just moderately famous. They all "seemed" pretty down-to-earth and generally likeable early in their careers but as soon as they became late-night hosts and got the big money, all of them became insufferable twats almost instantly. Then again, Craig Ferguson became more likeable when he got his show, so maybe he's the exception to the rule. I wish he was still on.
He reminds me of an old boss I had: entitled and rude af to everyone except clients. Mean is in his bones.

The truth is every celebrity can have a persona. Even those who seems to be genuinely loveable are putting a face. They just know how to play their cards right.

Corden is a good example of fame revealing who you are.
After seeing him on TV more than a few times throughout the 2010s, Corden always seemed a bit annoying and his humor never really resonated with me - it felt low-brow or condescending or even downright self-serving, with him laughing at his jokes more than anything else.
It wasn't until recently I began hearing about his attitude, and this video really opened my eyes to his awful behavior and why hatred of him is so widespread when compared to simple annoyance caused by most not-so-funny public personalities. Thanks for the video, and let's hope Corden gets the help he needs before even his friends and family begin to ostracize him for being, as you so eloquently put it: a cunt.
In James’s defence (which is not something I’d ever thought I’d say) you sort of took the Patrick Stewart thing out of context. It started with Patrick reprimanding James on standing in the background and looking bored (which is perfectly reasonable tbh, James should have had enough respect to at least entertained, but alas) which, to James’s credit, he did apologise for, even if it was a little harsh. But then Patrick continued by making rather unnecessary jokes about James’s weight, which promoted James to get angry at him. In my opinion, I think both should have just kept their mouths shut, because there was clearly some sort of animosity between the two anyway that they shouldn’t have aired live on TV at an awards show.
Again, I’m not someone to defend James Corden because I hate him as much as the next person, but I thought I should at least give more context to the Patrick Stewart thing. Regardless of the person, jokes about their weight is pretty much off limits, especially in front of a massive audience. Patrick Stewart could have easily dropped the subject as soon as James apologised for his demeanour and it probably wouldn’t have got so out of hand.
Nah, he deserved it. I think Patrick Stewart would've been fine with most other people but Corden is such an odious waste of space that Patrick just had to give it to him.
@@alexg1778 Yeah I mean don’t get me wrong, he deserved most of what Patrick Stewart gave to him, I just think overall it was a bit drawn out and not great timing for either of them to get into a fight.

@@TheNewThrone especially if you're white and privileged
Sorry but Patrick is a deity in waiting. Whatever he said , Corden totally deserved it.
I think the problem is that James Cordon was about 6 months away from losing relevence here in the UK when he made his move to America. From what I remember his panel shows were slowly but surely getting cancelled and his short lived TV & Movie comedy career here in the UK sank like a lead baloon after Gavin & Stacy ended, going in on such memorable projects as "Lesbian Vampire Killers" with G&S co-star Matthew Horne. While Cordon had managed to transition to panel show host for a few years here in the UK with shows like A League of their Own, that wasn't going to last forever. In short, Cordon's move to America was one of desperation and not well thought out, and as such he's basically wrapped himself in this America-friendly persona that most Americans actually hate but the network executives love and over time Cordon has just lost his soul to the American media machine, doing anything to stay relevent.
His limited talent ran out. So he himself sold out. How America gave him relevance boggles my mind to this day.
@@cattysplat Sold what out? His behaviour hasn’t changed significantly - only become a bigger version of the same person he’s always been.
@@oldvlognewtricks I have to agree with you on him always being a bit of a dick. If you watch back his panel show appearances like 8 out of 10 cats or big fat quiz of the year, his sense of humour has always been rather mean and childish, with the inability to deliver the jokes well. Having him side by side with actual comedians he always came off as a dick because he just did what made him a spectacle rather than the usual British comedy which is often self-deprecating or good-natured banter. He can’t even measure up as a TV host as he can’t beat Graham Norton who dominates that game or pass Conan or even Jimmy Fallon at their American segment-reliant and self-important humour. I hate to say it but he’s better off acting and even that wasn’t memorable. I first saw him in Doctor Who and very quickly forgot about him until he became mainstream and I was seeing Americans talk about him online. To his defence, he isn’t near as bad as Jimmy Kimmel or Ellen, who can’t deliver a joke to save herself. He’s always had American humour so that’s why he might have succeeded there.
I think this take sums up the situation really well
Kinda wish the UK would stop giving us their leftovers...first it was Piers, now this fucker. The worst part is he replaced Craig Ferguson, perhaps the the greatest late night host the US has ever had. Corden might be more popular, but he sure as hell is less funny, way less funny. And he had a really shitty, inauthentic personality that you really could see the cracks of with "Jean Luc"
Gavin & Stacey still holds up & I’m still impressed that he & Ruth created such a masterpiece.
fame went to his head slightly & he lost what he once had with the British audience to the point we all hate him
I use to love that show, it really was stellar, I was really proud of him. I wasn't keen on the show he went on to write with the guy who played Gavin, but you can't take away what him and Ruth created with Gavin and Stacey, and James showed his acting chops long before that.
Singer of Eye of the Tiger lives in my area and he pulled the 'do you know who I am?' when he showed up an hour late for his dinner reservation and I gave his table away. I've only ever seen Rocky 1 and knew the song from guitar hero or whatever. Completely dumbfounded when I asked if I was supposed to. From what I gather he quit the band again not long after that
Wow. Picking a fight with a literal 80 year old man and getting in his face. I knew he was a pos but this is even beyond that.
This is the same guy that had a fit while accepting a BAFTA because Gavin & Stacy wasn't nominated for best comedy.

Back in about 2007/2008 I was working as a runner on various shows at a studio in Kent. One weekend our largest studio was used for the Radio 1 Big Weekend after party, which was basically a big rave for celeb types and those around them (and some ticket winners) linked into the Radio 1 festival of the same name. It was pretty messy overall, two lorry trailers turned into bars, little baggies left laying around, and at one point I was doing poppers in the green room with the band The Klaxons.
A bit later in the evening James Corden arrived at the studio in a Ferrari with Vernon Kaye, tearing into the studio car park like they were boy racers outside of a McDonald's...
They then proceeded to walk around the studio showing off the big bag of cocaine they had (as if they were somehow part Escobar) and generally being obnoxious twats (and that's saying something given that we had Pete Tong and East 17 there at various points too). It got so bad that they became the only 2 people to be 'asked to leave'that night, after that the rest of the night went pretty smoothly until about 6am.

Sort of unrelated but I had a slight existential crisis in the first 19 seconds of the video when you said “He’s a big see you next Tuesday”.
A few weeks ago I said “see you next Tuesday!” to my English teacher when class was over and she was like “Oh no, don’t say that!” And I didn’t understand why not until she explained. Even afterwards I didn’t truly believe someone would ever use the phrase “see you next Tuesday” to express vulgarity but here we are. How come I didn’t get to learn about that until just now?? I swear I’m condemned to learn everything the hard way
😆😆😆 (I dunno why I'm laughing - I didn't know the phrase either, until you spelled it out, so you're not on your own!)
Learned something new
Edit: lol it is an acronym
If it aint hard, we won't remember I guess. But hey I learn something new from this video and from you too for asking. Cheers
Umm, still trying to work it out here🤔. Oh.....just...phonetics ..got it.

@6:30 "Adaption." lol I think it's adaptation, my friend
Fame is like money. Both will magnify who you really are. If you're generous, you'll become even more generous. If you're a narcissistic sociopath... you'll have even more victims.
It’s even easier to see that when you realize fame and money are both just different forms of power
My sister in law, who is British from the UK, said she had a few friends who worked backstage in one of his shows. They said he was anything but nice; he was a nasty, entitled and crass person who treated the crew members as if they were beneath him. It’s a shame because I did think he was funny at one point.
It goes back to upbringing for me.If your parents instil positive traits, kindness, politeness, respect then you won't go far wrong. You hear that fame turns people's heads, will if you have been well brought up it shouldn't. Being kind and respectful is important, and becoming rich and famous doesn't entitle someone to be rude to others, I know it's obvious to say this but some so called celebrities think they can behave like this.
@@rickykilby4672 You obviously have no idea, his parents are lovely people and quite decently Catholic too, they brought him up very well.
The problem with big success is actually the success and how it affects some people, not everyone can handle it well.
The problem with James is that people thought they they own him just because he plays a nice lad cockney character on tv and when he acts like he is famous or is in any way himself they cannot abide it and go mental.
@@britturk123 And you obviously have no idea what an opinion is,oh dear.
@@rickykilby4672 Sorry, It may have come off as rude, but what I meant is that you do not know his parents, they have been on his show many times I have seen them, and they are decent people .
I have no problem with your opinion about bad parenting and disrespectful children, I am just saying that his parents brought him up very well and with the purpose and belief of respecting others.
If James has made these mistakes it is because he became too successful rather than how he was raised, some people cannot take fame as well as others.
@@britturk123 no problem I apologise if my reply was a bit snarky. All the best.
I've seen the song James is in in Cats, and it's extremely clear he doesn't understand Bustopher Jones. At all. He thinks Bustopher is just fat, whereas in the song, Bustopher is literally a fat cat, and the rest of the clan loves him for making everyone slightly more posh just by his presence. And that's why I hate James Corden, he completely ruins one of my favorite characters in that play.
What a jelical comment
I don’t think he had anything to do with the song sadly. You can thank the writers for that. 😂
He didn't make the movie, that's the directors and writers fault lol
That play was always bad
@@calmghosts I have no doubt James C doesn't want to portray anything outside of "working class hero".
you literally had the title: "how James Corden went from lovable brit to intolerable git" in the palm of your hands and went against it
Wow, he's such a good actor! He totally made me believe he could be like his character on Doctor Who that is a lovely father
I've never liked James Corden, but goodness if those redditors are to believed I feel like a saint compared to him
The first time I saw James Corden was in Doctor Who and he was a pretty fun character there as far as I remember. After that, nothing else he appeared on was entertaining imo. His interviews with celebs are ok if you focus on the likeable celebrities instead of him
I thought the same thing! He was very good in doctor who.
me too
Same
Same
He was in Gavin and Stacey one of his best tv shows, he played such a relatable, funny character, but after he was in that show and he moved to America he became someone completely different, it’s such a shame
The cats dude 😂
Absolutely mental to go after Stewart who in 50 years is always gracious.
I love Peter Cook's response to someone who tried to pull a "do you know who I am" on him. In a loudish voice he asked bystanders, "does anyone know who this person is? He seems to have forgotten". I think that's a lot of the "do you know who I am" peoples problems. Although, in the case of aristocracy and/or the privileged they don't really know, they have no self awareness. In truth, they have no real awareness. Privilege disqualifies to a large degree. People raised as monsters, rather than becoming them.
American here. Picked up a group from the uk, they were all nice and I remember talk shows came up and I had to ask “was James a actor or something before he got a show in the states?’ They laughed and said no , they had no idea why he had his own show… he wouldn’t get a one on uk tv. Later I went to a filming as an audience member and he had to do so many reshoots of the simplest jokes and they weren’t even funny. We had to just clap on cue. Conan is legitimately funny, one take and that’s it, he riffs and talks to the audience between takes. James had no idea what funny was
Brit living in America here. James Corden was pretty famous in UK before mate, don't know what group you were in but they obviously missed Gavin & Stacey. James is just a guy try to make a living, yes sometimes his content is predictable but he's doing what he can to make money for his family and their future, just like the rest of us.
Really glad that the wizard community have representation on YT too.
Now this...
Puts a smile on my face.

I love the fact he is on US Tv and we don't have to put up with him anymore.
My feelings entirely 😆
@@jakrobbo7 mrs Robinson mmmmmm
Just switch the idiot box off bro. Don't gotta put up with him even if he was still on TV.
This aged well
Haha, we're sending him back now!
Just the first clip of him with Patrick Stewart is enough to work my nerves lol
Bill Murrah once said that he likes to give a person a year and a half to two years to get their ego under control from the time they get famous. Think about it. One moment your a normal person doing normal things and the next your being told by every person that you are the most amazing thing to ever live. Give the man a chance to bounce back is all I’m saying.
The British public are laughing, glad you guys took him off our hands! He’s always been like that! Funny at first but it soon wears off!
Damn you! I just wrote this! 🤣
And you can have Prince Hazbeen too, they're a matched pair.
Throw in piers Morgan as a freebee
And in return, the UK took unfunny Katherine Ryan off North America's hands
Guess whos going back...
I just looked him up because I had no idea what he's been in besides cats. My man's been in Cats, Trolls, Cinderella (the bad 2021 one), Animals United, Smallfoot, The Emoji Movie, and Teen Titans Go (the movie). Like his career moves are next level treacherous and its all been within 10 to 15 years... *and his ego is this high.* I cannot.
All are bad movies.... I think hes the common denominator 🙄👀 BWHAHHAA
@@instantnoodleskun9336 I would have agreed except for maybe the last two. Emoji movie had no substance whatsoever, meanwhile Teen Titans Go is pretty hated for ruining the original series that ran on that network (not to mention, the show has no substance either). So they would have been pretty hated regardless of Corden being in it.
It’s ALWAYS people who shouldn’t have an ego that have an ego lol
Not even sure, of all those movies which one is the worst
He was in Into the Woods as well
a better title woulda been a lovable brit to intolerable shit lol
I first heard of James Cordan as the voice actor for the ‘comic relief’ best friend of the main character in the Emoji Movie, and that’s basically how I see him.
Is Corden capable of shame? Or embarrassment? Apparently not.
Well he was in cats that should say it all.
In 2010 I worked at a hi-end menswear store and it wasn’t unusual to get media types, actors, sports personalities etc…. And generally they were pretty nice people until the day James Corden came in. From the moment he entered the store he had a total “nose in the air” aloofness about him, basically not friendly at all! I can certainly believe everything in this video 100%.
Omg, I had that same reaction when he was in Gavin and Stacey. I worked in habitat and like yourself I had media type famous people who walked into my store but him, I remember distinctly that he was wearing a cap and saw me and kept his cap down as if he was a a-lister. He didn't even smile and thought he was too good. Him and Ian Wright. Ever since then, I thought they were twats.
"Oh my god, it's Patty!", aah yes, whenever Sir Patrick Stewart Enters a building...
Great vid
Was this dude ever “lovable”? He’s always seemed to have been a fake and insufferable dope to me.

Keanu Reeves & (late) Luke Perry; Joan Crawford & Gracie Fields in the past; and countless others DID NOT let fame corrupt respectful standards of behaviour toward 'normal' people.
I was so sad when he replaced Craig Ferguson. The only talk show host who realizes that the whole concept of interviewing celebrities for entertainment like they're the most interesting people in the world is a joke, some of his bit look like it came straight out of a fever dream and are hilarious, he never acts like his guests are special he talks to them like normal people, he's weird and he's actually damn smart and witty. Only other talk show host I can compare to him is Conan.
THANK YOU
American culture seems to like to reward boring, generic, and untalented people a lot of the time, especially these days. Craig is the perfect host but he never had super huge pop stars and celebs on his guest list most of the time. The general public only cares about seeing big sparkly celebs instead of a host that has charisma. Corden is only relevant because of his carpool karaoke, which is obnoxious as fuck, makes me cringe and can’t sit through any of them.
If you watch Craig Ferguson's last LLS episode where he has to 'hand over' to James Chubdon, it's perfectly clear what CF thinks of his replacement but he's too far gone noping out of there to care less. Shame really, but for now CF's best moments are forever archived on RUclips, at least until he gets cancelled at some future time..
crave cooks: Craig Ferguson one of the very best!!!!!!
Ferguson was one cool Mofo
I have to admit. Way back then, I liked him when he did those carpool karaokes. That’s how I found out about him in the first place. It was just one of the those simple, wholesome things to watch. When I would have to lock myself at home from colds and sickness, it was mindless silly stuff like those videos would entertain me.
Even if I know that most of it’s stage, it was just fun to watch. Yeah, he really did seem like a funny, wholesome personality.
But yeah, he’s everywhere. I don’t really watch any of him anymore. I had to do a double take when I found out he was on Cats. Been laughing at him ever since 😂
Same on both counts 💙🤣

Carpool Karaoke was terrible
@@MeIshKittie Some of the early episodes of it were kinda of charming. It’s grown into something utterly obnoxious though. Just like Jams has.
I used to watch some snippets of his Late Late show on youtube and really liked him. That was also how I came to know of James Corden. Funnily enough, the more I watched his interviews with celebrities I was interested in, the more he started to annoy me and I still can't really put my finger on as to why that is. I genuinely thought he was funny and nice but I guess I started to realize how fake that persona was the more I watched. Oh and reading about all the bad encounters people had with him certainly didn't help. Let's hope he finds some help in therapy, at least he's somewhat aware of the problem and trying to solve it (presumably, we actually can't know how seriously he takes therapy. He of course could only be doing it to shut his friends and family up - wouldn't put it past him)
A critical part of his career pond-hop was his lovable character on Doctor Who.
One trick pony. First time i heard of that guy was seeing a youtube clip of carpool karaoke when he was just starting on US late night and it was one of the better late-night bits you'll ever see. But he ran it into the ground and obviously you cant prolong that bit because as soon as it became popular all the artists just started being over the top and it went from genuine goodtimes TV to forced and fake
Wasn't even his shtick. Just totally ripped off from Robert Llewellyn who did it years prior with Carpool here on RUclips. Not a particularly innovative concept I know, but if there's any reason it was liked, it certainly wasn't because of Corden.
Stewart Lee on James Corden: "Britain's loss is America's loss also."
This should be his epitaph. I found him annoying within minutes of first seeing him on TV.
Yo come take your boy Piers back. I thought we got his ass deported but now he’s back and on FOX NEWS of all places. For the love of god, come get his ass.
It's funny cus in the UK he was already seen as an intolerant brat, then he moved to the US...
That family picture is beautiful. They seems friendly.
I met him at a wedding with his ex girlfriend about 15 years ago and was told his then girlfriend had helped him write Gavin n Stacey, but he never gave her credit and then dumped her
In terms of adapting to "fame", or in my case "authority" (I went from being a programmer to a university lecturer), it *can* go to your head a little bit being the centre of attention. However, the mark of a humble and professional person in such a position is how able and ready you are to keep yourself grounded. Yes, when I teach, I'm the centre of attention and an authority figure over my students, but I'm self aware enough to remember that I was once exactly where they were. Hence why one of the first things I do when I meet new students is to ask them not to call me "sir", just my first name - I'm not "sir" in my opinion. Yes, I'm very accomplished and know my stuff well, which is why I'm teaching it, but that doesn't make me "better" than my students. The more you treat others as equals, the better the response you will get from them, and in a teaching context, the better their outcomes will be. If you act like a self-important asshole, all you will do is alienate people, make them resent you, and kill their interest in whatever it is you do.
I wish you were my teacher
You sound like a cool lecturer. I hated my java lecturer to the core. Java programming was newly taught in my uni back then. He was a dick wad when I raised my hand to ask for clarifications and mocked my lack of knowledge in programming. It was an intro to Java programming module..first class....not even half an hour into the lab.....killed my spirit since I was on scholarship and did not own a laptop so I always stayed late to use the comp lab.....flunked his class..took a repeat....aced that module due to a great lecturer. Graduated and entered the fintech industry. I wished I remember the good lecturers more. But that asshole hammered his shitstain on me that day.....so keep up the good work online stranger!
