Great video, very useful information. 50 degrees Fahrenheit is rather cold, 70 degrees would be ideal, but then again I'm in California spoiled by warm weather. Funny bloopers, keep it coming.
thank you so much for doing this using your time and $$money$$ for everyone so they can save their time and money. I will leave thumbs up and subscribe in exchange
Thanks for tuning in, brother! I'll bet you can dial the .308 barrel in to be sub MOA with their premium line. For what it's worth, I plan on picking up a 14.5" .223 Wylde fluted premium barrel so I'm sure I'll do an accuracy test with that one as well and I'll expect good results.
I have a AR 10 BA barrel 6.5 Creed with 20" Hornady match 147 0.65 MOA and with stock ammo 1.00 to 1.25 , they make good barrels for a fair price. I am just a good shooter not great.
Shooting 223, even match grade out of 5.56 barrel will not result in good accuracy. Unless your barrel has 223 Wilde chamber. But either way sierra bthp bullet will do the best. Also 5.56 is naturally inaccurate comparing to 223 chambered gun. Shoot 5.56 ar Because you’re tactical bros. Shoot 223 if you care about accuracy
Great build series, and even though I’ve built a number of AR’s I certainly picked up some helpful information. I posted a reply to Ballistic Advantage as well and am hoping to see more collaboration between you two in the future. I recently built a “mk18” Pistol with a BA 10.3” Hanson, upper, and bcg and couldn’t be happier. In case you’re interested in future ideas, I finished off the build with a Centurion Arms C4 quad rail, a Maxim Defense/SB Tactical PDW retractable “brace”, and a silent captured buffer system from JP Enterprises. Thank you for the great series, I recently picked up some Aero Precision receiver sets during their winter sale and this gave me good info and insight on how to complete those builds. I clicked subscribe, and am looking forward to more in the future. PS-I’m a “Lonestar Patriot” as well in Dallas
Thanks brother, I appreciate your thoughtful feedback and support of the channel! Not to mention, bonus points for being a fellow Texan. I'm glad you found the build series insightful and I'm definitely interested in feedback on new ideas, suggestions, etc. In fact, post up some pictures on my FB page as that's the best way to interact with you guys, swap ideas, and see what you guys are building.
Good job showing us what the barrel can do. You have much lower standards for a quality barrel than I do. I would be very disappointed if I tried as many different match grade loads as you did and not a single one grouped MOA. A $50 Bear Creek Arsenal barrel will shoot that well. If you paid for that barrel, BA should give you your money or another barrel!
Is Aero's M5 14.5" uppers used maybe by JSOC type operators during any type of IRL SAR/DA/HR/ETC type op or even ANY shortened carbine length 7.62.51 in a carbine length... *Like the SR-25K, which I had decked out with offset irons, a Maxim CQB style pop out CQC stock!* ..even had an old ass 3rd gen aimpoint because of an emotional attachement with just a straight foregrip. which I had integrally suppressed but that was in a six year temporary priv sec firm IC job. Just doing PSD in as a trunk monkey lol and idk why, but some FID type asymmetrical stuff since I was the only terp who was fully able to know the little small incremental changes in dialect etc. *Point is, anyone know where I can find something by LaRue, LMT, AERO PRECION PREFERABLY, and then KAC if nothing else comes to mind... Please?* I have my second lead advance team tactical job in years and not being stuck in a hot Yukon truck at TITANGROUP or worse, on a sweating street because we had so much on with the IBA and plates et*....So I'm going light-is-right with a heavy ass caliber thats NOT a 6.5mm Creed for once and back to what would dump a big boy with two to the clavicle.
There is absolutely zero excuse for a modern barrel to not shoot at least one MOA. It’s unacceptable in my opinion. Especially for a company that prides themselves on producing accurate barrels but that stands for any company. Not impressed. I get that that sounds harsh but come on, there are so so many barrels out there for not a lot of money that will give me at least one MOA.
I purchased the exact same barrel, I own one. The barrel shoots lights out with a bare muzzle and has shot .75” groups with no muzzle device but as soon as you attach a flash hider it goes to 1.5”. Iv tried dozens of loads.
Pretty unsatisfactory accuracy results from that Hanson barrel. Especially with the Federal GMM. That's where I stopped watching. Check your torque on the muzzle device. Over torqueing can cause accuracy issues. If not...I'd have to send that barrel back.
Lonestar, I'm curious as to what trigger group you are using. I'm watching you shoot and get 2-3" group but when I watch your trigger pull, there seems to be a LOT of take up in your trigger pull that could be affecting your accuracy. I would think from that 18" BA barrel, at 100 yards, you would get better groups. Of course that's heavily depended on finding the right ammo as well (which is what your video is all about). Please don't take this comment as negative, just real curious about your trigger group.
The barrel is capable of far better accuracy! The groups could improve with a precision scope e.g. Mil Dot or MOA with a Horus type reticle. The Primary Arms 1x8 scope with ACSS scope is an area shooting scope. Area-meaning man size torso area. Despite the talking points of an infinite aiming system in the triangle point, but I don’t find that to be the case. I have the PA 1x8 premium scope and a PA 4x16 premium scope with R-grid 2 reticle and I can consistently shoot tighter groups with the 4x16 than the 1x8 on several of my rifles. Get a precision style reticle scope and you will definitely see tighter groups.
First off, GREAT quality video! Maybe consider letting us hear the actual shooting rather than music playing as u shoot, kinda will put us in the operators seat, if you know what I'm saying... Also, some of those loads should have NO issues getting sub MOA, so I'm wondering if their is an issue somewhere, cause while those groups were definitely not bad, that barrel and your equipment should have NO issues getting sub MOA groups, especially with the loads you were using. Anyways, I subscribed, just wanted to add some feedback. Thanks for the video...
The Lonestar Patriot Check out this video, he has no issue getting some awesome groups with this barrel. ruclips.net/video/6xKjWlo_4ec/видео.html Of course you still didn't do bad with a couple of those loads! I think anything 2 and below I'd be super happy with! :) Thanks again
Man, my apologies as I thought this video was for a completely different barrel so scratch my previous response. You're right, this barrel is capable of sub MOA groups and I believe the tightest group from those loads tested was ~1.25". In fact, Ballistic Advantage has their MOA guarantee so there's no doubt it'll get there with the right load.
The Lonestar Patriot Hey, no problem, I just thought that you knew it has a sub moa guarantee and that you may be slightly pissed off if you didn't get that... :) I definitely wasn't trying to prove you wrong or anything, just was wondering why you thought it was OK for those kinda groups. You seem like a great shooter, so maybe the next video you can show us those sub moa groups from this barrel? ;) Lol Take care brother!
Dump the BA (below average) barrel, get a columbia river arms (black hole weaponry) 16" mid length, mid profile 1:8 twist 3p polygonal rifled barrel, buy some defender ammunition 77gr smk (.64 cents a round!) and you're now 1/2 MOA. Except I use the 1-6x PA acss.
I guess this is good video, good companies known for quality...you were very methodical in your testing...BUT...those were absolutely awful groups. I'm confused that you seem pleased???
@@thelonestarpatriot If you say so...I have two ARs with B/A barrels they shoot sub-MOA using 14 different types of ammo. All the way from 50 to 80gr. 1:7 and 1:8 twists.
I run the BA premium 223 Wylde, 1/8 and it is a tick driver! It doesn't like the 55 and 62 grain bullets as they are about 2 in ch groups, but 69 and 77 grain bullets are sub MOA all day long. Of note, I use a 24 power scope instead of a 6 or 8 power during my grouping tests.
