Michael Crabtree's legendary moment against Texas deserves a deep rewind

- It’s November 1st, 2008. We’re in Lubbock, Texas. The number one Texas Longhorns are trying to hold off the BCS’s number-seven Texas Tech Red Raiders. Clinging to a one-point lead with eight seconds left, if UT’s defense can make one last stand their title shot is nearly guaranteed. Tech, on the other hand, has the chance to not only upset a rival but throw themselves into the national championship conversation at the same time.
Both teams stand at 8-and-0. Obviously, one team won’t stay perfect. And there’s enough on the line that what comes next is guaranteed to overshadow how we got here. Where did this Tech team come from? How did Texas become the best in the nation? How we got here makes what comes next all the more special. So, let’s rewind.

I am a Texas tech student who grew up in Austin as a UT fan I cried and cried when we lost that game and now I have to embrace it as my schools greatest play........ it’s a complicated feeling

I was there, 20 feet from Crabtree's catch. I'll never forget it, you can see me for about .1 seconds in the replay. I lost my hearing for a day, voice for two days. It was awesome.

I remember watching this with my dad. We weren't from Texas, we didn't care about either team really, but it's still one of our favorite college football moments we've seen

I was thinking the same thing watching this. I dont remember watching much college ball with my dad but for whatever reason we both decided to watch this game...to this day one of the best football games I've seen at any level
If I remember correctly, Texas tech beat Texas, Texas beat Oklahoma, and Oklahoma beat Texas tech. All of which finished 13-1. It was a memorable season to say the least.
Actually they wiped their cleats with Oklahoma. BCS was so trash TX still should have played for the title.
Yeah, Oklahoma blew out Tech in I think their final regular season game of the year.
I mean they were outscored 25-14 in the second half and Colt only threw 1 TD, but 🤷
Texas didn’t wipe their cleats on OU, only winning by 10. OU beats Tech 65-21 and Texas and Mack cry as Texas loses the tie break to OU for the Big 12 South Title #Boomer

Lol "Go big or go home" Many coaches have lived or died by motto. Like going for it on 4th down or going for a 2 point conversion. If it's a success, the coach is the greatest coach ever, he get a raise and contract extension. But if it's a failure, the coach is the worst of all time, he gets fired at end of season

omg this is one of my favorite games of all time. i remember going crazy when Crabtree scored and I couldn't believe he got drafted by my favorite team the niners. His NFL career wasn't as good as I thought it would be but in college he was my fav.

I was in the stands for this game and rushed the field afterwards, this was an incredible moment.
I remember watching this when I was just a freshman in high school. I wasn’t sure who to root for until I learned more of the importance behind the game through commercial breaks and the halftime analysis. Once I had the information, I decided to cheer for Tech and was screaming after they had won. 4 years later, I committed to Tech. Fell in love with Lubbock despite people always saying there’s nothing to do there. Part of me wonders if I hadn’t watched that game, would I have even considered Tech as a possible university choice? Despite that lingering question, I never regret my decision. GUNS UP 👆🏽

I VIVIDLY remember this moment, and the fact that Texas losing this game is what made them put it all on the line against Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship which they BARELY won thanks to a dominant Suh for Nebraska running wild on the Longhorns and McCoy.

This is one of those "I remember where I was when I saw it" moments for me. I was in a hotel in rainbow city Alabama after leaving the Alabama game. (We beat Arkansas state like 30 something to nothing that day roll tide) but I'll always remember the excitement college football brought me on this day.
