Janet Shaffer How strange. Me too! A friend has asked me to do a mountain picture for her. I’m very much a beginner and she’s seen a few of my better ones on Facebook. So, I was searching for a mountain tutorial. Hence finding Mr Fuller. I feel oddly sad that’s he’s not around any more.
I agree with Zack you do have such a calming style of teaching, I really enjoyed watching your video and it inspired me to stop worrying about mistakes and just enjoy the process by what I have learned from you and paint 🎨
Wowzer, you make this look so easy. I tried copying this more or less a few days ago, and it was pretty much a disaster. There's a pretty big jump/edit at about 4:17, from where you have the basic shape down to where you start adding in some light grays, I think this is where I got lost. Anyway, I will keep working on it, great technique and thanks for posting.
+johngo6283 If you freeze the video just after that point and make it full screen, you can see the brush work required to make those layers of rock. It is a slow process and very repetitive to watch. I hope there is enough shown to explain the method. regards, Grant
+Grant Fuller I can see why you made your edit there, and that showing all of your brushwork would make the video too long. Pardon me if I sounded grumbly, I understand your reasons and admire your technique. Back to work to try it again!
Beautiful painting. A quick question regarding technique:@6:54 through 6:58 when the forest of trees are added on in those few seconds...are the trees added on "wet onto wet"?....or are trees added on to dry paper? The color mix of differing green hues is absolutely gorgeous.
Sylvia Catalano All trees are done on dry paper, just add new brush loads while the previous wash is still damp and the paint will blend. Many different greens can be made with just these 4 pigments.
You have calming energy, and your painting experience and passion shows! I'm in the process of a small landscape painting currently, as a beginner. Thank you for this video :)
Hello! Thank you for your video it is very helpful! Im wondering if you could do a watercolor version of kazuo oga's landscape work ( he used poster colours). Because I was trying to do it but I made a big mess.. I really dont know how to start it..I know it might be a bit too much to ask..>_< I really appreciate your works and love your teaching style. clear and simple!
+anabel S Hi Anabel, we all have our own style and I would not be able to demonstrate someone else's method, only my own. Here is a landscape of mine ruclips.net/video/zN3QP1KSKHQa/видео.html
+Staffan Bergström Thank you, my paper is 200 lb. Curry's CP (same as TH Saunders), Winsor Newton paint. All my supplies are listed on www.grantfuller.ca under the menu "Workshop Supply List"
Was absolutely loving this until four minutes and 19 seconds with the big jump and I got lost would love to see this without the edit as I really need help with mountains
So happy this channel is still on YT, what a talent we lost.
Is this artist deceased? How sad. Just discovered him.
