She is the Bob Ross of watercolor painting!
omg that's amazing lol
Who doesn't love some Bob Ross!?
Thank you for the comment. Made my morning.
Yes please it’s healing to watch these videos
What kind of paper do you use? The ones I’ve been using definitely aren’t as durable as yours, it seems to get overworked way too easily
Jackie! New subscriber here. 85 year old man, red/green "blind", but still trying to paint. Truly admire your approach to "misty". I've never tried watercolor before but I'm excited to be starting...have the basic supplies, and am so pleased to have found your tutorial. This video is an eye-opener. Thank you.
Hello Robert! I'm glad you're here and picking up watercolor. I hope you find it therapeutic to see how the paint mixes with water and does it's own thing once applied to the paper. If you haven't tried Arches cold pressed paper, I hope you give that a go, too.
Thank you for leaving me a comment and spending time on my channel. Happy painting!
So your an dumb duetan right?
I'm back to try again. Had a few issues last time, chiefly overworking my paper. This time, I'm doing something different. I'll let you know if it works.
Bravo Robert. I ’m an old lady too! And I like painting with AQUARELLE ‼️ 2:18 😊
@@JackiePeacockcongratulations‼️👏🏼👋
Lovely misty landscape!
I don't get tired of them.
Thank you for sharing!
Very interesting technique. I've never seen anyone do that up curved stroke for fir trees. It looks very nice.
The rain in the background is my favorite part and I love the way she turned that painting around and made the water drip that is so cool
I am a high school English teacher who tries to learn something new every summer that is out of my comfort zone. This summer I am trying my hand at watercolor. I have never painted or drawn before. I am ordering my supplies this weekend. Your videos have given me the confidence I needed to jump right in. I will be back when I make my first landscape.
I LOVE that! I'm so glad you're giving watercolors a go. It can be frustrating, but when you find a subject you enjoy it's so therapeutic. Thank you for sharing and I hope some of the landscapes I've provides so far speak to you. :) Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! You can share your art with us in our private Facebook group called Painting Moodscapes if you want.
Love the mist, Jackie! No apologies needed as far as I’m concerned. Can’t wait to try this one. I’m new to watercolors (62 years young) and love the challenge. I think you’re going to be quite successful on this platform!
Aw I appreciate that. Thank you so much.
I wish you many happy paintings!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and teaching us!!! Beautiful!!!
There can't be too many misty landscapes! I've learned so much from this video; thank you for the relaxed teaching that is loaded with specific techniques.
Haha I agree!
Thank you for finding me and sticking around. :)
Hi There.. I am from Edmonton Alberta Canada..I am a first time water painter. I love scenery's..I also can totally feel your techniques..I paint the same way...even as a kid I wanted coloring books that had scenery's.. I used to draw cartoons and cassette covers that always blended together. Like the group Nazareth.. If you were to see one of their covers, it is a type of sunset..or surise..anywsy It flows into each other..details are added like yours. I am so glad to have found your tutorial on water coloring scenery's. Finally someone I really can learn from. I just love watching you paint without sound...after about the 15th time..lol..and found relaxation in your painting techniques.
Thank you for the great tutorials, I will be watching all the others as well. Also all your new ones. 😊
Thank you so much for being here and for sharing that with me I really appreciate it and I love that you can relax while painting and watching these videos because that is so important to me as a creator.
Hair of the Dog!
This painting is soooo. Beautiful.
Thank you for your videos! It helps a lot with depression. Please keep making these beautiful tutorials!
Thank you so much for sharing. I love calming and atmospheric videos, and it seems like so many are connecting with that. I know it's what I love to see as a viewer, and hope to continue doing that here.
Lovely painting! I'm sure you know this already, but wetting the back of your paper at the same time you wet the front will help prevent the page curling as much during the first wet on wet layer. That way, you don't have to push the center down with your finger to get the paint to move over the middle of the page, which might affect the paint.
I don't know why she doesn't tape the edges down as touching the paper so much is risky, as oils from your skin can leave fingerprint marks, plus it's just more stable for beginners' less steady hands.
Ordinary matte Scotch tape is cheap and doesn't rip the paper.
This is VERY good! Thank you! I like this style you use here. Soft (impressionistic) without hard lines. I am sure whatever you do turns out nice.
Thank you so much, Jana. I have a lot of messy paintings though. But I try haha
I love your misty scenes!! Velvet touch Brushes are so great😊
Thank you, Maria! I love how so many of my viewers love them too. 🥰
Therapeutic ! I do a lot of art but love the way you are transparent about your learning... just like your paintings :) ... awesome work!
I appreciate that. I’m trying haha. Thank you!
This is the first one of yours that I've run across. As you admit, you've done a few trees. Bonus because I enjoy how they turn out and as well, we get a lot of examples of your process. Very nice.
Hello and welcome, Michael. Thank you for enjoying my videos and the trees.
Thank you, Jackie! Love this misty scene! ❤
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching. 🌲

i loved how aesthetically you presented your painting to us. Thank you.
Thank you so much 😀 I adore aesthetics, so I’m glad others appreciate it too.
I love your misty paintings....paint as many as you can.
Absolutely will! Thank you!
This is so pretty, Jackie! I’m trying to learn how to do watercolor correctly. I usually use pens/graphite that let me get precise detail, but watercolor seems to be a whole other ballgame that is building off of layers! 😅 Thank you for tutorials like this!
I also love tree’s and mist!!… and just picking up a brush after 20 years!!.. thank you for posting videos 😁✌🏼
Woohoo that’s amazing! Happy painting! 🌲🤍
Love this, my guilty pleasure is birch tree bark, the blues and pinks and creams tans and white, the eyes that look back at you. I could paint them all day long.😊

I love this technique you are using for the painting I would like to do. I'll try it...probably many times until I can get the look I'm after. I live near the mountains and take pictures that I want to paint. So when the wind blows the snow around the mountain tops I think this will help me. Fingers crossed. Thank you for this lovely picture. Your voice is very soothing which is really nice because I get a little anxious before I try a new technique since I am just a beginner with very big aspirations for improvement. LOL, I love it so much!

I've been searching for tutorials like your misty watercolors for some time now! So excited when I stumbled upon your channel! I'm only a few months into watercolor and have never picked up a brush before at 61. It's been such a joy learning and helps so much to calm my sometimes manic brain. Your techniques and your soothing voice and simple explanations are exactly what I've needed. Can't get enough! Do you have a Patreon or Skillshare acct? If so, I would love to support you there! Thanks so much for all you do!
Welcome Rhonda! And wow thank you for such a kind comment. I’m glad you’ve stumbled upon my page and are enjoying the content. Keeping the lessons and paintings as simple as possible is important to me. I know that they’re sometimes challenging, but I try my best to simplify them. It’s what I would have wanted and needed when starting out. Let me know how your creative journey moves along!
Happy painting 🌲🤍
And no, not on Skillshare or Patreon (maybe one day I’ll be on Patreon but not now).
However, if you sign up for my newsletter (I think you may have… I think I saw your name) then I’ll share when I release ebooks and digital courses. That’s my main focus as far as offering extra teaching bits. Thank you so so much for wanting to support me.
I would love to see your take on more cartoonish style of watercolor painting
Hahaha I love that! Hmm sometimes when I need a break from landscapes, I paint subjects like teapots and Scandi houses. I mainly do illustration style of work in digital formats. I'll have to think on that, though. I'd probably share something like that on my IG @jackiepeacockart if you'd like to follow me there.
If valium could talk, it would sound like you and Bob Ross talking about art. So soothing.😂😂
Omg 😂 best compliment

Thank you for sharing! I also love to use lunar blue and moonglow for my mountains
Welcome! Thank you for watching! Oooh I just purchased a tube of moonglow! It's so pretty. I was going to use it for water reflections, but mountains sounds great!

Adorable👏👏👏
Very informative video! Thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful, and thank you for watching!
I have liked loose styles as details sometimes make my paper fray. What kind of paper do you generally use?
I tend to mostly use arches cold pressed paper. I find it’s been the best at holding a lot of water and blending.
I hear you on loose painting, though. I love a mix of both. Details and loose.
I like this video , thank you .!
Glad you liked it! 🌲🤍 Thank you.
Thank you for sharing! I'm an acrylic painter trying my hand at watercolor. What kind of paper are you using?
Love it, why don't you tape you paper down?
Haha that is an excellent question. It depends on my mood. Sometimes it’s nice to not tape the paper down so I can feel like I have a little more freedom to move the paper around. I also don’t have to worry about the paper buckling in the middle or worry about the paint peeling off if I use a lot of water. I find that constantly misting the paper as I’m working is enough. Yes, it will curl a bit, but not enough to mess up my paint.
But, sometimes I use tape, too. Just depends. Lol however, I do prefer not to use it. 🌲
Wish I could show you my version. I’m so happy with it. Thank you.
I haven’t created the FB private group account yet, but I will soon. But if you have IG, I’d love to see it there.
And more importantly, I’m so happy you’re happy with your painting! 😍🤍🌲

Hello, I’m 75 years old and I’m trying to learn how to watercolor. How do I fix it so that you’re writing doesn’t color a picture I have no idea what you’re doing but when you have a picture up, it was beautiful. Is there anyway you can put the writing right across the top of the screen.
Thank you I think this painting is beautiful! Awesome job. I just subscribed to your channel. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸

That's nuce 👍❤️. Also your voice is quite ASMR
Thank you so much!
Asmr 🫣🤣 love it. Hopefully that means I bring calming energy to my videos.
@@JackiePeacock yes it does 👍
Beautiful painting. Can I ask why you didn't tape down your paper?
Thank you so much for the comment and of course for asking. So it depends on my mood and all honesty when it comes to taping my paper down. If I don’t want a white border where you would have tape, then I like to wet both sides of the paper. That way the paper is going to stick to whatever surface I have it on. It’s also going to keep the paper flat. This is a great practice to get in the habit. If you decide to do wet on wet, it doesn’t work out, so well if you are trying to paint wet on dry. Hope that was helpful.
@@JackiePeacock Thank you. I will have to try this.
I coud watch you all day.
Omg so much love, thank you! I appreciate it.
I adore misty scenes. They just do something calming for me. However, im a strange person as i actually do not like splatters. I feel they detract from a beautiful painting and make it look the kid got at it. But to each their own eh? After all it IS your painting, not mine. And i love love love this one. Its simply perfect minus the splatter. Lol
😂 I do love a messy splatter, but I understand your point of view, too. Sometimes it’s nice for a cleaner look.
Thank you so much for the comments, Marlene!
❤❤❤❤❤
Love ittttt❤️
Thank you so much, Sandy! 🤍🌲
I hear you said you like to spray your paper when you lay a tree down so I did but then when I draw the tree trunk it just went away with water become blurry 😢
Ooh ok. So that used to happen to me too (sometimes it still does if I over spray). Try keeping your spray bottle further away when you spray. Almost like a fine mist. If you’re using the went on wet technique, than maybe let it dry before spraying. I usually do this on dry paper. I spray only ones. Lay a couple of trees down, then when the paper is dry again, spray again.
Hope that helps. 🤍
Omg my spelling 🤣 sorry about that.
@@JackiePeacock thanks for replying . Also do you think the color I use matters? The Daniel smith color you are using is so calming and beautiful. I was using W&N 12 colors palette it looked like a mess. I want to buy those color you are using and give it a try again.
@@miou196 hmm that’s a good question. I think any profession grade paints will give you vibrant colors. I don’t think brand really matters. I just happen to love the color ranges for Daniel Smith.
@@JackiePeacockа какую вы используете бумагу? Это 100% хлопок, наверное ?
Is there a reason the watercolor paper isn’t taped down?
I can’t quite remember why I didn’t tape it down. Usually when I don’t tape it down I will wet the front and back of the paper, but I don’t think I did that this time. But that’s what I’d recommend if using WOW method.
Very nice mist effect. I'll try it.
The splatters absolutely don't fit to the picture.
I hope you get the effects you want.
Haha yeah the splatters have been a moss and hit for viewers. 🌲
@@JackiePeacock too cheap. :D
Where’s the description?

💚💜💛
👍👍🙏
Ah, the beautiful mystery of mist! Would that be "mistery"?
Hahaha :)
WHAT PAINTS /BRUSHES WILL I NEED TO START OUT.
For landscapes I usually gravitate towards the Princeton Velvetouch long round brushes. I also like the Grabie detail brush set for mountains.
I’m new and love your videos minus the background noise
Hello iestfamily! Welcome to my cozy corner on the internet :)
I'm glad your enjoying the watercolor content I'm providing. Is it the rain that is effecting your watching experience? I know that sometimes when I record, my recorder can pick up on house sounds, like the fridge in the kitchen and my cats which can be distracting. I'll try to lower the rain sounds for future videos.
This seems to be a different brush technique from your other videos.....I think it might be easier for me. I will give it a try. gulp !!! I'm sure it isnt as easy as you make it look though. :-)
It is a bit different. I like to change things up a little bit. But, I agree. This is a bit easier than some of the other trees I do. You've got this, Lindy. :)
@@JackiePeacock no I havent got it....I cant do those either............ LOL. think I give up with trees for the moment.
@@lindyhawthorne2164 lol omg 🫣 you sounds like me a few years ago. I had to take breaks from trees, too. I do that a lot with landscapes when they don’t turn out the way I want. I always switch to leaves. Do you have a favorite subject you like to paint? That’s what I’d do when needing a break.
@@JackiePeacock thats amazing that you say that as I was thinking I just need to go back to painting flowers......I can usually do that. Not having much luck with landscapes. You are very smart !!!!
@@lindyhawthorne2164 I’m sure taking a break will help. And going back to what you know best is a nice way to boost the confidence again. Then try again! 🤍🤍
I tried... I need a lot more practice!
Keep practicing and you’ll get there. And even more importantly, you’ll explore different ways to paint a scene and develop your own style to something you’re trying to replicate. 🥰🤍
I would love to see your reference while you paint.
If I use reference photos in the future, I’ll be sure to have them on the screen.
I don’t have them in the videos because I usually paint from my imagination.
🤔 its hard because too much water ruins your painting 🙄
Too much water can definitely cause some problems for sure. The paper I always use is Arches cold pressed paper. It holds so much water and I've never experienced any tearing or ripping. What paper do you typically use?
@@JackiePeacock just watercolour art paper from the works 🤔
Hmm I haven’t tried that paper. I’m not sure how thick it is, but if you can experiment with thicker paper it might be a better experience. If not then I’d try just misting your paper and not using the wet into wet technique.
@@tylerburton267I ruin my painting no matter what I use. Watercolour + me = ack.
