Many thanks for this video! Great camera work combined with clear concise instructions. It gave me the confidence to replace the clutch on my 2003 Sabre. I couldn't be happier with the results.
I’m subscribing mostly based on the effort you put into getting the right camera angle at 8:24. You channel seems to have a lot of content I’m looking for. More motorcycle videos please. There more exciting than fixing a house or even a nice car.
Great vid, it was the one that got me done (2000 Shadow Sabre VT1100C2). My exhaust cover clamps were completely seized with rust and would have twisted into ribbons, so instead I loosened the 2 header bolts and the 4 support bolts and removed the entire pipe, super easy and avoided the whole sheet metal clamp catastrophe.
Nice job Bob. I changed my springs and used different bolts as well. Those OEM bolts tend to be a one time bolt. I think its BS if you didn't screw them up keep them. I placed my bike on the left side. Didn't have to drain my oil. I also reused my gasket. Which I wouldn't recommend. But mine came off in one piece. I just reused it. I got a spare. If guys are trying to save money, they can change the 1st and last friction ring. It will save tons of money. You can tell when they are going bad cause they get darker .Use a magnet to remove rings a tad bit faster then the hooks. Still used the hooks for the plates. Great video Bob. Thanks. Keep them coming! Excellent video.
Frogman172 Wow these are some great tips that you mention here. You could also lightly sand the clutch plates to give them a little more life. I only wanted to do this every great while so I wanted to go with new everything. The way I figure it is the more time I spend working on my bike the less time I send riding :-) That is great to hear that your gasket came off and you were able to reuse it along with the oil. You may want to consider changing your oil sometime soon just in case any debris got into the oil while the cover was off. Great tips, Thanks
Other than the necessity to remove an exhaust pipe (which would still be hot if the bike was run to thin the oil before this procedure), this looks so much easier than replacing the clutch on a Harley Davidson Sportster! Thank you for this video!
Thanks man I really appreciate ur videos bro I have the same bike I really needed to Do all that and no one could do it for me since I live In a small sorry ass town I rather not name it lol but I wanted to thank u for showing me How to do all that it really saved me money I don’t have n now I can go to work thanks to u God bless...💯❤️🙏🏽✊🏽
Hey Bob, did you replace the gasket with where the exhaust meets the engine? Is there also a gasket or something where the pipe meets ths muffler you replaced? Im doing my clutch soon and want to make sure i get all the parts needed
Thanks, im gonna do mine soon. Its slipping when i give it full throttle in 4th. I just didnthe stator. I hate working on the bike. But i love the feeling when im done and she is running again.
Hi. I just replaced my clutch using the Ebc kit. I also replaced the springs. Though now I have no action in the clutch lever even though the cable is adjusted all the way out; whereas I did before. Could I have missed something? The shifter arm does come up when I pull the lever; though it does not disengage the clutch.
Not sure without seeing the whole bike and what else is going on. I would pull it back apart and check it while it is apart to shed some light on the issue. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
I just purchased a 2006 shadow Sabre with 16k miles. The clutch doesn’t engage until the lever is almost fully out. Does this mean I need to replace the clutch?
I've changed a few clutch packs on a few different bikes, this one seemed to go the smoothest until... now I can't find neutral no matter where I have the cable adjusted... no slack, some slack, enough slack, too much, etc. (Adjusting from perch and from engine side of cable). I am stumped and have to ride this thing to work daily.... Any help would be appreciated, thanks anyone in advance....
I've never hear of something like that before. I know you may not want to hear this but it may be a good idea to take it back apart and check everything out. It would be terrible for you to get stranded somewhere. Keep us updated if you find anything out. Thanks for watching.
Hi man. I have the same bike but I am not sure if nuts are in inches or metric, what wrench I should use? Also can you please advise minimal toolkit for service this byke?
Nick Smith The good thing about this bike is that all bolts and nuts are metric. A tool kit is a personal thing and what you put in it really depends on what you plan to do with it. Thanks for watching.
joey boone From the looks of it you should not need one either. Here is a inside look at the 95 VT1100 clutch i996.photobucket.com/albums/af83/funbro/95%20VT1100_zpsgnhn0xtv.jpg Hope this helps, Thanks for watching.
Not absolutely sure but I would guess they are the same. If you call the local bike shop/ Honda dealer they should be able to tell you. Thanks for watching.
Do you mean to tell me this on the Shadow is like rebuilding the transmission on a car? It can't be this easy. Is rebuilding the engine juts as easy? I heard you had to remove the whole engine and take apart the engine to work on the "transmission" on most motorcycles. I guess some you do and some you don't.
To work on the internals of the transmission it's recommended that you take the engine out. But to change the clutch pack it's about the same on most bikes.
Fantastic video. I really appreciate motorcyclists like you who create quality content.
Thanks for watching
This video makes me a LOT more confident in changing my clutch.
Thanks a lot Bob.
Glad to help, Thanks for watching.

First and last friction ring are black according to the manual and marked with A, others are marked with B and they are brown.
Other than the necessity to remove an exhaust pipe (which would still be hot if the bike was run to thin the oil before this procedure), this looks so much easier than replacing the clutch on a Harley Davidson Sportster! Thank you for this video!

Thank you for posting this. Its top notch quality. I better DL all your vids before they disappear
I hope they don't disappear.

I’m some glad I found ur videos….I have the exact same bike……
It is a great bike. Thanks for watching.
you just saved me a lot of money thanks
Glad to hear you saved a lot of money. Thanks for watching, and happy riding
Did you have to adjust the clutch before and after the installation of the new one?
Thanks, im gonna do mine soon. Its slipping when i give it full throttle in 4th.
I just didnthe stator. I hate working on the bike. But i love the feeling when im done and she is running again.
Sounds like it time for a clutch. Thanks for watching.

Great video bob
Could you do a tutorial about changing the speed-o-meter cable / braking oil /clutch cable, etc.
These are helping me out alot
Great ideas, Look for them in the near future. Thanks
I just purchased a 2006 shadow Sabre with 16k miles. The clutch doesn’t engage until the lever is almost fully out. Does this mean I need to replace the clutch?
No. You can adjust the engagement point with the screw up on the clutch lever.
Hey Bob thanks for this Video, I have a Question if are you sure for the bolts the torque is 106lb?
Nope, I’m not sure I will have to look it up.
@@funbro1 thanks bro
Excellent video.Appreciated.
Glad it was helpful! Happy riding.
Great, great Vlog man it has help me allot, thx!
Awesome! Happy riding. Thanks for watching
After how many miles did you replace it Bob?
About 35,000-40,000 from what I remember. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
What brand of clutch plates and springs you used and did u have to drain the oil
EBC clutch and Yeah drain the oil. Thanks for watching.
Is there any real difference between this model and a 2001? And do the friction discs have a certain order they face?
There may be some slight differences but the process will be the same. As for the plates it doesn't matter what order they face. Thanks for watching.
Will this be the same procedure for the honda shadow spirit 1100cc 2006?
Should be very similar, maybe some of the tool sizes will be different and be sure to verify the torque values.
Thanks for watching
does the shadow motor SC18e have a 5 gear box or a 4 gear box transmission
All of the Shadows that I know of have 5 gears. Thanks for watching.
Do you have a video on changing the primary drive gear set?
Sorry I do not.
i am trying to figure out how to simply access the clutch cable to lube it. please help. i did buy the motion pro cable luber
I would go from the top down, might be the easiest way. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
I've changed a few clutch packs on a few different bikes, this one seemed to go the smoothest until... now I can't find neutral no matter where I have the cable adjusted... no slack, some slack, enough slack, too much, etc. (Adjusting from perch and from engine side of cable). Hi
from what website you bought the gasket and the friction plates?
can you please share the links for the parts?
There are many to choose from, I don't remember what website I used at the time.
funbro1 have you ever used any of Caltric products?
befor watching just the reviews Does this apply to the VT750DC 2001 as well
I'm not sure if it is exactly the same but it may be similar.
Replaced clutch plates for general maintenance or was it slipping??
It was starting to slip so it was getting time to change. Thanks for watching.

Nick Smith The good thing about this bike is that all bolts and nuts are metric. A tool kit is a personal thing and what you put in it really depends on what you plan to do with it. Thanks for watching.
Is it the same for a 95 and I was told that I need a clutch tool I didnt see you use one I just wasn't sure because yours is newer
joey boone From the looks of it you should not need one either. Here is a inside look at the 95 VT1100 clutch i996.photobucket.com/albums/af83/funbro/95%20VT1100_zpsgnhn0xtv.jpg Hope this helps, Thanks for watching.
Thank you bud I really appreciate it
Is this the same on the 2005 Sabre?
If not exact it should be pretty close. Thanks for watching.
do you have a video on changing the stator?
No, not at this time sorry.
Grasias por la clase amigo
De nada
Does anyone know if the tourque specs on a 1998 Shadow Aero are the same for springs and cover?
Not absolutely sure but I would guess they are the same. If you call the local bike shop/ Honda dealer they should be able to tell you. Thanks for watching.
what oil do you run in your shadow???
+Justin Reed 10w40
Good video thanks
Thanks for watching
can this be used for a 750?
The process will be very similar but probably not exact. Happy riding and Thanks for watching.

Спасибо 😉 👍👍👍
Спасибо за просмотр
I pay a mechanic for this?
You can do it. Thanks for watching.
With this be the same process on an 06 shadow 750 aero
It might be somewhat difference.
2024 an fix to do this 😂
i wouldnt have used the gasket sealer with the paper gasket, its kinda like wearing 2 condoms, sounds safer but it isn't.
I just did it because it creates a good seal and it’s safer...as long as it’s not overdone I’ve never had a problem. Thanks for watching
