Anomalous carrion golem is a big buff to spider damage especially at 50%+ quality. I use life gain on hit with my cyclone and have ES on hit from watchers eye, and use hydrosphere to kill worms for spiders as a simple solution. Have a look at the shadowstitch builds for it (which I think I started), they are very good.
Nice video, fun to see how your theorycrafting is similar to mine in some ways and different in other. I've played arakaali's fang a few leagues back following a build on the forum (from chromino). This version went with herald of agony and poison scaling, using fast casting skills to proc virulence and worms. Very well documented build page, do recommend!
Heya, pretty sure that a cast while channeling goes socket-by-socket for priority, so if you put the offering first and desecrate 2nd, you won't get the offering on the first channel trigger but will have 0.6 seconds time to summon your spiders before your offering ticks again.
Awesome idea for a video series. Love seeing collaborative open-minded explorations of builds. All my best builds came from suggestions and tweaking from other players.
I'd love to see more videos like this. It helps me develop my own build making and testing skills. Please continue with these if it's not too inconvenient. I think Lightning Coil is only best in slot for high budget setups on Pathfinder or with Mageblood. Phys taken as elemental is very strong, but doesn't help with elemental defenses, and it's a lot better when you can get close to 100% conversion to really minimize how much you have to invest in armor/evasion. Pathfinder having permanent elemental flasks with 80-100% increased effect (or even more in a 3 flask Mageblood setup) is incredible with phys->ele, so it's really hard to justify anything over Lightning Coil or Cloak of Flame there from a defensive perspective, but on an Occultist Arakaali build, I can't see it being better.
When he showed the Coil comment suggestion, I thought the exact same thing. I even paused the video and went back on the item to really check it out and I couldn't figure a scenario on a Occ where Coild would be remotely as close to a Brass Dome or Dopple. But as I've played Pathfinder this league, that chest on it is simply BiS, it's crazy how good it is, I'm sure Pathfinder (or even both) will be nerfed this next league and I won't even be mad about it, it is just way too strong rn
i actually use it on scion! scion gets good damage for minions via guardian and necro, it also gets incredibly flexible budget options via pathfinder for flask shenanigans. big bonus for not requiring the pantheon for worm sustain. its insanely underrated. ive played EVERY ascendancy with arakaalis as a challenge. lightning coil plus additional sources of phys taken as elemental allows you to drop determination, and grab other auras. watchers eye for double purity of elements is a good source, as are shield corruptions and helmets. its a different way of building your character that you have to start from the beginning with. you cant only go half way with it.
About the spiders video: Personally I think your big strength lies in the fact that you are digging in to a build. You get lost in it. Make errors, fix them and come out on top. usually with something completely new or something that seems weird, but works surprisingly great. Copying a build will never have that same appeal, at least not to me. This video was fun though! More "trying followers ideas" with different builds too! 😁
Im confused why you dont want to use the standard setup of Divine ire-Cast when channeling-desecrate? channel divine ire to spawn corpses, use flask, stop channelling divine ire. this fixes the ' janky' feeling of the cyclone (low hit chance = cyclone misses, and you only hit 1/2 worms which leads those feelbad moments where you only summon 2 or 4 spiders. -If you dispense with the feeding frenzy meme and extra minion shenanigans you can have 2 separate channeling setups (with enough gem slots due to dropping the feeding frenzy meme), divine ire for spawning and cyclone for your offerings, which is what I do to make it very smooth! - you can use auls for an extra aura, then use profane proxy with despair to proc the aoe curses for your explode- you'd be surprised, the skitterbots keep up with the spiders easy (plus you can soft target them with the cyclone channel with your mouse - the spiders and skitterbots tend to run towards your mouse pointer if you're actively channeling, even with the Ancient Skull helm effect) Also i use asenaths, its potentially overkill but it does improve the clear even more, and the automation of curses means you NEVER have to stop and cast desecrate, offerings or any curses, which is HUGE QOL -also Curse on hit! it proliferates all your explode effects (also why I run asenaths) or a despair on hit ring, makes clear way better (than it already is, which is really good!) - ALSO (last one i promise!) if you're REALLY pressed for gem slots, you can consider using corpsewalkers to drop the desecrate in the cyclone setup- not really ideal for summoning spiders but in a multi offering setup with Leash of oblation (+ mistress of sacrifice) it is basically mandatory - also the regen from the corpses could help fix your recovery problem.
"It felt like you were playing a daycare nanny or something" - that's why I play minion builds lol Really liked this vid - great idea and especially interesting to see your process. If you're using gravebind you may as well just run a single carrion golem + feeding frenzy - that way you don't have to do anything other than use your flask at the beginning of the map. The reason people run divine ire is bc they don't run gravebind and run carrion golem + feeding frenzy. Then Divine Ire is the best way to summon bc when you release it, it's instant, so you can kill worms before your golem kills them. Also was wondering if your cyclone is able to crit? Idk if you were sane the whole time you had the Dopplganger's Guise on. I couldn't watch the vid.
I love the problem solving video, my issue with streams is that because of the nature of the media there is a lot of emptiness and as a watcher we get parts of the thoughts but not what was said earlier or later, but this video format solves these issues, I love it please do more.
I like your new outro song! When watching this video i was thinking why doesnt anyone else do this? Needs more like this! I am sure this way we will hit some cool new build techs sooner or later.
Loved the video. Arakali bomber was one of the most fun builds I've ever played, I put about 15-20 divines into it this league and was very happy with the results given the budget. Minions / auto bombers are something I'm trying to learn more about and use way more frequently moving forward if possible.
when u explain stuff everything sound so easy , but then me (the noob) try to craft stuff and waste 3 divines i was farming for a week :) i think knowledge gap between veteran player and new player is very very big in these game , things that are obvious for You are black magic for me . i would love to see video how u take build from maxroll or somewhere and craft items explaining slowly what u do and why , just an idea great video as usual keep it up glad to see you back in POE
Does the build need a timeless jewel or has an expendable socket for the Vaal one? Whenever someone mentions Guise as a defensive option I assume they imply using it with the 50%ele taken -> chaos, +5% chaos max res keystone.
I use Storm Brand to kill worms before other minions can. The low attachment range is still better than Cyclone radius, and they instantly attach/damage/chain. Also helps start explode chaining if you're using Asenath's or even a Hextouch setup.
I played a pathfinder spider build, it made it to have parity with Dan's build except I used bane with hexbloom for cursing monsters instead of having blasphemy auras and used asenath's touch/oriath's end to make up for not having profane bloom. Vaal haste socketed into the triumvirate ring for increased duration, soul refund and chance not to consume souls for high uptime on vaal haste. Wore a lightning coil brigandine and funneled all of phys damage taken to elemental resist and high evasion with ele flasks so I didn't need to invest any points on the tree or equipment for res. Around 24m dps with squire shield while vaal haste was up and monster was cursed with bane, comfiest build I've played with spiders since I just can't get away from pathfinder flasks.
I play spiders nearly every league, and the one thing I love about it is that there are so many ways to play it. Personally I can't stand playing any cyclone version of it, I link divine ire to cast while channeling and desecrate so that I have corpses for spider summoning or an offering skill whenever I want. Oh, and they can pry my corrupted +1% additional max res brass dome from my dead fingers, lol.
Also if the minions kill with poison dot the kills will always count as your kills so there’s a way to fit that in to instantly start your maps in not sure tho as I don’t play minion builds
ty for the video, i did not know much about this topic, so it wasnt really that interesting to me. so i just wandered off in my mind and got some really exciting and creative progress for the dnd campaign im planning, TYVM
Every league I try a new build, and I end up finishing the league with arakalis, in my opinion it's the best build in the game. I had never realized that it was difficult to summon spiders, or I never cared, something I always do is put desecrate wherever I go so I never had a problem stopping to summon them again. And movement on the spiders, I would say makes it a lot more fun.
Arakaali is my favorite thing in POE. Every league, I play some version of it once. This league doing more tankier Jugg version with Asenath pops and double curse with Storm brand as trigger. From previous iterations, I liked pre-nerf (could be put on left click) Doedre's Skin Occultist version.
Do you have enough max resist and regeneration to support righteous fire? Righteous fire would instantly kill the writing jar rats and you wouldn’t even have to press anything. Once it’s active it just stays active.
I really thought the gravebind effect would have been a good contestant for a minion mastery. Something like "kills from your minions are instead counted as yours". Obviously of great benefit to arakaali's, but it's not like there aren't other on kill effects that minion players may want to take advantage of.
im glad you released this video, was thinking about trying spider next league but i really hate any non permanant minions so just been mostly playing golems or zombies. that summoning mechanic would just annoy me haha
I like how you try stuff to try new stuff. No one is wrong, it's just a different take. Ghazzy has a guide for Spiders using a weapon swap. I don't know that it's any less clunky, but it's another take.
I'm with you, I don't love how little you can automate this build to make it feel good, but I did want to bring up the one thing: cyclone is certainly the better feeling channeling skill, but given what your accuracy is going to be like on an occultist (or how many points pathing to Resolute Technique would be), IF you're relying on cyclone to kill the spiders from the jar, that might contribute to some jankyness. Divine Ire sucks, I totally agree, but at least it doesn't miss :P
Maybe I edited it out in the video but at 9 attacks per second and 50% accuracy I think it's a wash and at least cwc cyclone can give us other benefits. It's all too janky for me though!
I like using the Vridis and doppelgangers as a defensive layer. May have to look into using that for a different build in the future. I think spiders are still a little too clunky for my taste but maybe a different minion like golems or something could benefit from it
Best way to summon spiders is the most traditional way: get divine ire and corpswalk, run several steps then channeling divine ire, then press worm flask, easy 18-20 spiders..If you are looking for damage, get cluster jewels and a Caspiro jewel at Eternal Youth location, easy 200% minion damage (also this is the only position where timeless jewels can cover the attribute notables ). For tankiness, use Brass Dome, good combination with Caspiro. EB+ divine blessing Malevolence, with Inspiration and alt increase duration for free aura. The main issue for this build is recovery, but this league you have bloodnotch right?
Dopple and lightning coil defense tech allows you to to forgo determination for the most part so just swapping the chest In pob doesn’t really get after the fact that it’s a core defense approach shift
If u already ditching the ancient skull helmet u can bring utility spectres linked to feeding frenzy for ALOT more dmg/clearspeed/movespeed (frenzy ape + arenamaster) the feeding frenzy alone is already worth it. Also bring bone Rings with miniondmg and ore minionspeed/minion ias% they huge
Actum's Berserker Double-Strike with the Soul Eater-things you can get from the crucible-tree. (I tried to find one but it didn't exist a month ago) :(
I didn't really like using gravebind or skitterbots, feels like too much of a loss for minimal qol. This also allowed me to put in purity of elements, which can make gearing a lot easier. On my champion I usually just summoned 10 at the start and as long as you keep fighting in the map, it maintains itself. Bossing will always be the most awkward with divine ire though, especially if you die and gotta get back in. Also all the builds I've seen use cyclone to spawn corpses and cast flesh offering and thought that felt great. One of my favourite builds that cleared the whole game!
i played that for a while too, sadly sinse the introduction of cluster jewels, its much more efficient to just pump all your effort into minion damage and buff up the spiders.
I played this build in betrayal and it was stupid amounts of damage for so little investment beyond the dagger itself. it was the first build I could actually farm red maps with. The melee minion playstyle just wasn't for me so I never tried it again, but if I get bored with a ton of currency, I'll try it again some league.
Can you use a lower level CWC and have flesh offering be the last skill linked? This would allow you to press cyclone, cwc desecrate, writhing jar, kill the worms and have flesh offering me the last ability to go off.
Everyone is different and what may be amazing to me might be trash to someone else. Like I know that many people hate some of the meme builds like Cast on Ignite but I absolutely eat that shit up. Spiders might just not be your bag. But I know in the hands of someone who loves them (like my BFF) they can annihilate the entire endgame.
Telling someone Lightning coil or doppelgänger is better than brass dome is like telling someone a lawnmower is better than their Mercedes. The lawnmower is useful, but they serve completely different purposes
i think the defensive armour comparison using max hit was quite unfair since there were lots of things that u didnt consider such as divine flesh with doppleganger, not needing determination and armour if u have 100% phys taken as elemental with lightning coil (never used this mechanic so idk if this is a thing), etc. just saying the ehp is lower only applies to your specific setup which isnt built for those items
dont need gravebinds.. alternatively. just use the deadly ailment support 80% less dmg with hits.. means all the kills basically comes from the damage over time.. which count as player kills.
I love arakali spiders and it just does everything. Clear / single target but its not great at one thing but the damn summoning of the spiders is such a fucking pain in the ass. Nothing worse than summoning 2 spiders vs sirus or some big boss
arakali was ok but goddamn I still remember how I hate it when I lost all my spider in high wave simulacrum, all they need to do is let the spider refresh.
I'm not a fan of the Cyclone setup because since you don't have much hit rating you can end up missing the worms and they walk away. I haven't tried it myself but I hear putting Culling Strike with SRS is pretty good.
If you can make VD/DD Work on a decent budget(80 div max-Early league equivalent) I'll become a sub for life. Has to be either infinite flask tech, tanky, overcapped res, decent armour or some combination of good defences to boot so that it never gets blown up. Another one that I saw a guy playing on a decent budget that was very solid was Cyclone CWC Occultist Detonate dead with Fire to Chaos Convert. Sounds like a meme, but he was super tanky & had like 13 mill - 15 mill dps on his league starter variant. Also if you can make Cyclone work without it being Abyssus 4k life shockwave no spell supp guy. And not a COC delivery system like it currently is. Have lots of ideas banked up but need to hop off now, if I get any replies or nods I'll see what I can put together. Otherwise good luck with the project Little Edit - I also made a COC FR Character that doesn't need a mageblood and still had crazy defenses and 25~30 mill dps. The only downside for me was the lack of aoe, even +1 radius on cyclone via the occultist variant felt better. But it was very very good none the less. Also did not need Tailwind boots n stuff, functioned without.
9:40 maybe too much is put into skitterbot? just inferno legion is enough i think. the idea is just enough damage to kill worm from the jar isn't it. just use jar and go. don't have to setup anything more. also as subtractem said he still need jar for boss anyway.
CAST ON CRIT WHIRLING BLADES. PLEASE i know it sounds hella dumb but its my dream build. the thought of just zipping through a map with whirling blades and exploding packs seems so much fun. in my head im thinking of when i crit i cast one big fat spell that does a lot of damage, not a lot of spells that add up to big damage, but 1 big one. also with the name lock tech it could possibly feel pretty sick on bosses? idk. i tried whirling blades prismatic burst with a level 35 shako but im too bad at this game to make it not feel jank. it worked but my attack speed was too low to be fast and i didnt have enough cdr to make it line up smoothly. also the aoe was really small. overall pretty ass but was fun trying to make my own build.
Played around with that idea for quite a while too but there just isn't really a way for it to feel good. I think the best version is discharge either hit based or ignite but coc ignite in itself is kind of dumb and after all it's still discharge and I think people who actually play coc discharge would never use whirling blades. It can work I guess but I think especially on bosses it is impossible to make a good coc build with whirling blades because you are manually accountable for your procs.
yeah i actually played around with it two leagues ago, it's where my CoC hexblast build came from. as said above there's just no way to hit a single monster cleanly 10 times a second with it. ignite can be ok but you're better off just doing shield charge and igniting with that alone for its base damage.
Have you thought about doing it with shield charge since it has a wider radius to proc? That used to be how COC cospri's builds were played, you'd have a shield charge more attack n cast speed setup in gloves with a basic COC along with the cospri's pops and everything you touched exploded with COC Discharge for generic whites, and the tougher ones you cycloned with ur 6l Chest.
Hey try running a blight map (don’t like significantly juice the build tho on your character 😭) make a zombie build if you do it right it could be great for most bosses I’m pretty sure you should be able to do maven maybe shaper? I forget if it can do Ubers or not
@@subtractem your being confused is making me confused just do something with zombies and don’t omega juice the blight map because I’m not super sure the build can handle it 🤷♂️ hope that made more sense 😅
@@subtractem ahh okie so it’s not do zombies aswell as the skitterbots I’m not sure that’s gonna work I mean do a zombie build I wanna see what you could do with it and then “blight map” you know what that is I’m not sure where I’m losing you here honestly 😅 I’m confused elaborate if this wasn’t what confused you
Wait no I got an idea maybe you’re confused because “why zombies?” I forgot my reasoning mb sorry 😅 so you could use any skill in the game absolution skeletons spectres fireball vigilant strike but the idea behind using the zombie gem is “zombie”
This was actually one of your best videos. If other people like it as well you could consider doing it with more builds.

its insanely underrated. ive played EVERY ascendancy with arakaalis as a challenge.
lightning coil plus additional sources of phys taken as elemental allows you to drop determination, and grab other auras. watchers eye for double purity of elements is a good source, as are shield corruptions and helmets.
its a different way of building your character that you have to start from the beginning with. you cant only go half way with it.
- you can use auls for an extra aura, then use profane proxy with despair to proc the aoe curses for your explode- you'd be surprised, the skitterbots keep up with the spiders easy (plus you can soft target them with the cyclone channel with your mouse - the spiders and skitterbots tend to run towards your mouse pointer if you're actively channeling, even with the Ancient Skull helm effect)
Also i use asenaths, its potentially overkill but it does improve the clear even more, and the automation of curses means you NEVER have to stop and cast desecrate, offerings or any curses, which is HUGE QOL
-also Curse on hit! it proliferates all your explode effects (also why I run asenaths) or a despair on hit ring, makes clear way better (than it already is, which is really good!)
- ALSO (last one i promise!) if you're REALLY pressed for gem slots, you can consider using corpsewalkers to drop the desecrate in the cyclone setup- not really ideal for summoning spiders but in a multi offering setup with Leash of oblation (+ mistress of sacrifice) it is basically mandatory - also the regen from the corpses could help fix your recovery problem.
Great idea to start a new series "build together"
"It felt like you were playing a daycare nanny or something" - that's why I play minion builds lol
Really liked this vid - great idea and especially interesting to see your process.
I usually use the corpsewalker boots with the build to be lazy and gentle touches with despair on hit to count as you killing when they explode
27:58 also haste double dips into your attackspeed with the minions attackspeed right? or does it not cause of the "nearby minions"
What is the keyboard in the left from you? It looks like one of the old IBM that feels really nice, and how do you get one?
It's a Realforce topre keyboard. Quite different from an ibm model m but I love it. Amazing feel and super unique!
when u explain stuff everything sound so easy , but then me (the noob) try to craft stuff and waste 3 divines i was farming for a week :) i think knowledge gap between veteran player and new player is very very big in these game , things that are obvious for You are black magic for me . i would love to see video how u take build from maxroll or somewhere and craft items explaining slowly what u do and why , just an idea great video as usual keep it up glad to see you back in POE
Does divine blessing work for skitterbots? Thinking about it I doubt but if it does, you just pop them at the beginning, enable your auras and zoom.
Doesn't matter what you do. However many divines you dump into it you can find something better in every department for 1/4 the cost of divines.
Im curious, what level of investment is the first variation that you showed?
Thanks for showing I don't need to be sad about not playing this build
ty for the video, i did not know much about this topic, so it wasnt really that interesting to me. so i just wandered off in my mind and got some really exciting and creative progress for the dnd campaign im planning, TYVM
Dang, I read these same comments in the last video and was like... I would be interested to see him actually try these and report back. Very nice!
I love seeing The experimental phase and figuring out all The optimalisation bits. I Hope for more vids like this in The future
Please more videos like this, its great to get your thoughts on different builds
Fun to watch you work through a build!
Great video and interesting format. I would like to see more.
I built an EK Trickster Harness of the Void build and it's pretty good. Inspired by your last season video. Thank you.
The one I played this league was mainly a HoP build with the spiders, worked really well imo
Obviously of great benefit to arakaali's, but it's not like there aren't other on kill effects that minion players may want to take advantage of.
im glad you released this video, was thinking about trying spider next league but i really hate any non permanant minions so just been mostly playing golems or zombies. that summoning mechanic would just annoy me haha
arakallis spiders is my all time favorite build. i have 3 or 4 on std. good video man. appreciate you
I like how you try stuff to try new stuff.
I think spiders are still a little too clunky for my taste but maybe a different minion like golems or something could benefit from it
Cool process to see, thanks for posting!
Summon skitterbots with Infernal legion, means desecrate, wormflask and lots of spiders very consistantly
I like the video. Shows different angles and approaches to popular builds. I dunno if the masses are going to like it. Could be niche.
For 100 Divines this build seems increeeeedibly underwhelming. Thank you for making this as I had wanted to play this and it has no changed my mind
I like cwc desecrate + divine ire with cyclone. Easy and quick, but you do need a 4l devoted to it.
@@fma0420 yeah but summoners are always socket starving..
Also bring bone Rings with miniondmg and ore minionspeed/minion ias% they huge
very nice sharing the process
i absolutely loved this video and i really hope you make more like this
Actum's Berserker Double-Strike with the Soul Eater-things you can get from the crucible-tree. (I tried to find one but it didn't exist a month ago) :(
can you share the latest pob that you are comfortable running with?
I didn't really like using gravebind or skitterbots, feels like too much of a loss for minimal qol. This also allowed me to put in purity of elements, which can make gearing a lot easier.
On my champion I usually just summoned 10 at the start and as long as you keep fighting in the map, it maintains itself.
Bossing will always be the most awkward with divine ire though, especially if you die and gotta get back in.
Also all the builds I've seen use cyclone to spawn corpses and cast flesh offering and thought that felt great.
One of my favourite builds that cleared the whole game!
One of my favorite builds a couple years back was Death's Oath with Arakali's.
i played that for a while too, sadly sinse the introduction of cluster jewels, its much more efficient to just pump all your effort into minion damage and buff up the spiders.
Never thought to play minions and probably never will, still a great video!
What is that grey circle around your char?
maddening presence from amulet i believe
you should use carrion golem for your feeding frenzy, the wave attack hits everything, and you have perma frenzy
Everyone is different and what may be amazing to me might be trash to someone else. Like I know that many people hate some of the meme builds like Cast on Ignite but I absolutely eat that shit up. Spiders might just not be your bag. But I know in the hands of someone who loves them (like my BFF) they can annihilate the entire endgame.
really like the video format
Try our build ideas? Self cast totem explode instead of traps, super scale the totem placement speed and use it as a speed mapper instead of a bosser
I think you might enjoy poison Chains of Command slightly more. It's a build that's somewhat similar to Arakaali/SRS gameplay
Telling someone Lightning coil or doppelgänger is better than brass dome is like telling someone a lawnmower is better than their Mercedes. The lawnmower is useful, but they serve completely different purposes
This video was excellent thank you.
I really enjoyed this form of video
Would love to see this for the thirsty whispers build I've been playing this league I think you would have a lot of fun trying different things out
Awesome, thank you!
i think the defensive armour comparison using max hit was quite unfair since there were lots of things that u didnt consider such as divine flesh with doppleganger, not needing determination and armour if u have 100% phys taken as elemental with lightning coil (never used this mechanic so idk if this is a thing), etc.
just saying the ehp is lower only applies to your specific setup which isnt built for those items
dont need gravebinds.. alternatively. just use the deadly ailment support 80% less dmg with hits.. means all the kills basically comes from the damage over time.. which count as player kills.
3:24 "Short and sweet" you say? lol
:)
that's what she said
I love arakali spiders and it just does everything.
I haven't tried it myself but I hear putting Culling Strike with SRS is pretty good.
love this style of video.
I don't usually comment but I gotta say this video is fantastic.
100% chance to not consume discharge cast on skill use discharge brother, it’s a fuxking blast
if you wanna try a nice minion build, try Frostbearer spectres... they are so good if you got currency to invest
Otherwise good luck with the project
Little Edit - I also made a COC FR Character that doesn't need a mageblood and still had crazy defenses and 25~30 mill dps. The only downside for me was the lack of aoe, even +1 radius on cyclone via the occultist variant felt better. But it was very very good none the less. Also did not need Tailwind boots n stuff, functioned without.
SRS with spiders is interesting. I was bored playing just janky spiders too.
9:40 maybe too much is put into skitterbot? just inferno legion is enough i think. the idea is just enough damage to kill worm from the jar isn't it. just use jar and go. don't have to setup anything more. also as subtractem said he still need jar for boss anyway.
Like that skitterbots tech
I KNOW you don't HAVE to link the fang... but if you did 3 link it, it would look prettier and that might make you like the build more. :P
I forget if it can do Ubers or not
??
@@subtractem your being confused is making me confused just do something with zombies and don’t omega juice the blight map because I’m not super sure the build can handle it 🤷♂️ hope that made more sense 😅
What I mean is I have no idea what you're saying.
Devilcat is the master of arakaalis fang
Guardian version is so good. Talk about map 🏃♀️
