Now they’re gonna make max do what he’s done to so many people. If he wants Adam he’s gonna have to beat every member of the faction before he can face Cole
I half expected REM's "It's The End of the World As We Know It" to be the theme song for the PPV
I can see aew being the new (old) TNA, no tv deal, wrestlers leaving especially the females and the poor leadership
I was disappointed at first, but instantly realized (from MJFs selling) that this is the right choice, if lets say it’s was some big surprise, that makes a great moment but Cole being the devil holds more weight, now you have a blood feud that you can sell on multiple PPVs. Cole changed MJF from cowardly heel to baby face, gave him a beat friend someone to fight with and for, took him from making ppl jump through hoops to fight him, to a fighting champion (Both AEW world champ and ROH tag champs), these things in the end were MJFs undoing as at the end. MJF is physically broken because of so many title matches for both belts, that’s why I actually like the title finish, MJF going to sleep after such a taxing year. Cole then not only physically breaks him but mentally breaks him with the devil reveal taking everything from him. Can’t wait for the next chapter.

Completely on board with Dan's feelings on the finish to Joe/MJF I feel like the idea of Joe leaving the ring straight after beating MJF making the title not the centre point of the overall match, is representative of how the title has felt since the Devil story started and especially since
Full Gear.
Cole being the devil is perfect because it creates a compiling storyline for MJF resigning a new contract and going after them for revenge. Even better, it could potentially leading to Hangman and Jay White teaming with him for their own revenge.
Tony responding to the allegations wearing that stupid hat and silly sunglasses was certainly a..... choice wasn't it? Looks like yet another AEW PPV buried by off screen happenings. AEW is in need of some better leadership and pronto.

These spots are important do to (MJF) People need to do this more, Losing to the sleeper arm drop spot, Submitted to a standard Arm Bar and others too Losing to standard spots to get over all moves being dangerous
Max has been doing every Babyface trope in existence and it contributed to an amazing swerve at the end of this match

I am predicting still we are not watching Max baby face run but rather the origins of mega heel MJF, we will say years from now I had friends once, the fans loved me … and it costed me everything. He will be the completely justified thanos of the AEW universe

The ending of the MJF vs Joe match was perfect. I had the exact same reaction as Oli and it's so rare to be genuinely shocked by something that happens in a match
I get the Joe ending in that for Joe it was purely a busniess transaction. I help you, my payment is the AEW title. I have the AEW title, you have Max, our business is concluded, I'm out. He doesn't care about Max, or Cole and the Devils and their group so why would he stay for the beatdown or celebrate. That's not who Joe is. Joe is the You got what you wanted, I got what I wanted, you do whatever you want, I'm out guy.
While I also get the other people's feelings is that Cole wanted to be the AEW champion, then Max beat him. So why did he want to do all of this to Max if it wasn't about the AEW Championship?
As for the finish, I think it's two fold. 1: Like was mentioned, Max wants to be a baby face and he gets over all these things and tries to be a babyface but at the end of the day he loses to the most basic babyface, almost guarenteed babyface survives spot ever kinda fits for Max. Also let's be honest as wrestling fans and like Ollie said, we're so conditioned to that not being the end of the match and are thinking about how the babyface is going to escape the choke and try to fight back, that we just expect that to happen and so it shocked us when that didn't happen and he lost because that never happens.
Can someone explain how the jam that jampionship works? Like, how do they defend it?
I like a 4 hour show, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. Yes you won't have a banger with every match or PPV, but I enjoy AEW content. I like the audience participation, commentry and when AEW gets it right, by god do they get it right. There were some not so good match's last night, but the last 3 matches made the World End last night. Can't wait for the new world of AEW 2024.

4 hour PPVs only suck for those obligated to watch a lot of wrestling for their job
Adam cole wearing black is a dead giveaway. They should have at least made him wear another color and do it nwo style by stripping off to black and their logo for more impact.

So I am glad that Joe won. Wish he had more time to celebrate the win, but Joe really did need to win. The Devil story is quite good on paper (Adam Cole doing a repeat of MJF's actual backstory with the popular kids pretending to be his friends), but the execution needed some work. Hope Cole can explain his motivation well.

This story goes back to way before the Devil. The Devil thing was just icing on the cake of a much longer story. Adam Cole befriended Max, literally **helped** him become a better person and discover true friendship, then took everything from him and broke his heart.
Adam Cole is fucking diabolical.
It doesn't matter that it was "predictable" or didn't "live up" to whatever fantasy booking fans ran with in their own heads. What matters is that The Devil being Adam is the absolute worst-case for Max. No one else being The Devil would have hurt Max more.
Overall, Worlds End was good. The 8-man tag match with Jericho & co. was SO SLOPPY.
Its just speculation at this point everyone needs to calm down.
For me with the finish, I like the setup into the finish of Cole fumbling for the ring and it turning out that that was likely on purpose but it did feel a little flat because Max just didn’t seem like he was in the clutch long enough to maximize the effect. However, if you look the first two times Bryce does the arm drop spot Maxs arms go all the way down to the mat, but the third time he hits his leg and stops and it never drops to the mat. There’s a chance (albeit pretty unlikely) that it’s MJFs way back in, he technically never did have his arm drop all the way the third time and so technically didn’t pass out.

Being at the show and a mjf fan i was booing cuz of the finish, but it was loud during everything that happened so it got alot of heat due to the interesting finish
I’m thinking Adam’s plan was to ruin MJF and run him out of AEW.
And he has also beaten Joe in AEW, he hasn’t beaten MJF yet, after multiple attempts.
Now cole has back up, he could beat Joe again, if that’s where they’re going with the story.

AEW went through the growing pains this year for sure. People seem to forget were not even 5 years in yet. I love AEW and cannot wait to see how 2024 goes for em
Actually Dan, the biting is legal for Abadon's match makes plenty of sense. The match still wasn't very good, but biting is illegal just like holding a submission after your opponent hits the rope is illegal. And just like a rope break, or hitting an opponent in the corner, the ref will give you a 5-count to break the bite before calling for the DQ. But Abadon could bite to their zombie hearts content without having to break, which leans in to the whole gimmick.
With Cole and MJF being injured. This is the best decision they could do. The only way this works is if Adam Cole wasn't as hurt as reported. Hom being able to work would have saved the story

Facts. Swerve has soooooo much momentum right now. It almost of how Wardlow was when he was hot. AEW dropped the ball with him. They need to get Swerve's run going ASAP.
Joe had to win after hitting that muscle buster on the apron. If MJF had won after taking that I wouldn't have bought it.
Well that ending was obvious lol. Everyone saw that coming with Cole being the devil and the problem is it made no sense because Cole helped cheat Joe out of winning the belt the first MJF vs Joe match...........And Joe is till that dude after all these years. I was so happy he won the belt. MJF is so popular he doesn't even need a belt at this point.
Lastly, you could tell one of the guys was Roderick Strong just by his walk lol even before they took off their mask
I watched the PPV a day late with the spoilers of Samoa Joe winning and Adam Cole being the devil. Even with that knowledge, I was shocked at Joe winning at the end and just how good the Devil reveal was.
Whats adams masterplan? Why help Joe ? Didnt do nothing for him and his new faction? The trade off for the RoH titles too the kingdom for Joe too the title seems like adam and the new faction got fu#ked over there lol
If that were the case then that'd be the second time that they were going to have a long ish term feud with punk and mjf that practically got scrapped due to circumstances

I don’t mind Cole being the devil, but there are plot holes that need to be filled. When MJF and Cole started tagging, Cole was admittingly going to turn on MJF bc he wanted the World Title. But Joe won.. clean.. now not only does Cole not get the title, but he also didn’t even cost MJF the title. Cole took away the ROH tag titles from MJF, he took away his friendship and MJFs heart with it.. wouldn’t it have made more since for him to take away the world title too (taking it himself or causing MJF to lose it)? That way he can say he took EVERYTHING away. The way they did it, Cole didn’t even take away the most important thing.

I think that this ppv was very good booking wise and had some great matches. I think that we have been spoiled and are just playing up how “bad” current shows are (wrestling journalists) is and as wrestling fans the last 4 years and fans are starting to think they know more than they do and are just being unrealistic sometimes with alot of what they expect. Bring back actual wrestling fandom

Just, what a mediocre PPV with a ridiculous ending. All the matches had problems, but the main event was just a letdown. First, let me say that I am THRILLED to see Joe as champion. And a clean win to boot. Just fantastic. It's everything after that just made me roll my eyes. I mean, you can tell me Cole being The Devil is predictable and I will agree. AEW is nothing if not predictable. But when you tell me it makes sense,we part ways. In what way does it make sense? What was Cole's motivation this whole time? Why spend all the time doing this to watch Joe walk away with the title? Did he seriously spend a year setting all this up cause MJF said something heelish about him way back at the beginning? Is that really what we are doing here?
It's nonsense piled on top of nonsense. So, Cole was The Devil while doing all the comedy bits with Strong as well? Just, come on man. This wasn't a very well thought out angle from beginning to end. The payoff was lackluster. And where does it go from here? The only person in that group with a believable beef with MJF is Wardlow and he's not even a featured player in all of it. Are MJF and Cole going to feud without the title? Are we seriously going to pretend this angle has enough weight to not have a title at the center of it? Jesus Christ, Tony. HIRE A REAL BOOKER!

Probably AEW’s worst PPV of the year but they had a pretty good year for them so it’s not that devastating. The Swerve match shouldn’t have happened. It’s a shame HoB vs FTR wasn’t in the chamber because I don’t think anyone would have complained too much if that came out of nowhere.
A while ago AEW had a cash prize for a battle royale and honestly I kinda wish the C2 went that direction. Cash prizes are underutilized in wrestling. They are easy to keyfabe and are tangible motivations.
The title for Worlds End came about when Tony Khan drove past The Worlds End pub above The Camden Underworld, which any mosher or stagediver knows that the Underworld is stagediving central 😂🕺🏿 which I think makes the title a lot cooler!
Samoa Joe winning makes sense especially if Cole is indeed still injured. Cole screwed MJF, and now MJF lost two titles because of the only person he ever really trusted in AEW. The event leaves the doors wide open on what MJF might be heading next in terms of storyline. How will this feud move along now that MJF has no titles to defend? I find genuinely intriguing. Should the devil storyline be done better? Yes, but the end result was always going to be the same. Cole was always going to turn on MJF, it was teased way too many times before for it to be someone else.
I absolutely hated the Moxley and Kingston match. I don't like neither guy to begin with and I just think Moxley matches are so bad

I was in Steve and larson's watch a long. Man the people there were brutal. Kinda agree with the overall vibe. Felt like a long rampage esp.
Devil reveal was terrible everything from Cole acting as if he couldn’t find the ring to the unmasking and mjf bad acting it’s a 1 out of 10 for me
While I do think this was on the weaker end of AEW ppvs (this is the same as DoN 2023 for me), the opener and final three matches were great. My heart broke for MJF when Cole was revealed as the Devil, I laughed a lot when Cage instantly won back the TNT title, and Kingston winning made me smile. The mid card of this show was a chore to get through tho...
Loved MJF & Joe, Mox & Eddie, & Miro & Andrade, the rest of the show was like a regular night of tv not PPV quality.
Personally I would've thrown Kyle O'Rielly in instead of Wardlow. I feel a heel Wardlow doesn't need a faction, especially being an underlining beneath someone else. And I get Kyle may not be cleared yet still. But I like the idea of Adam trading in his "new friend" that he didn't even 100% trust, for both sets of his old faction friends. The guys he knows has his back. And would want him as the world champ.

All-star 8-man was good, last 3 matches were great, but the rest were things didnt feel like they belonged on ppv... overall id say the ppv was underwhelming
Julia is much improved, but can't carry a match on her own yet. Tony match was flavor of the week just to continue to May's debut. Swerve and Keith are doomed to NOT do this forever. And Jericho... needs to go away for a while... even if the allegations turn out to be nothing. He just needs to go away so we can (maybe) miss him for a bit

Baseball and hockey have even always had penants and awards/trophies for their respective conferences/leagues and the NBA and NFL have always had the same kind of thing with the NFL placing the accomplishment and trophy more well known and NFL having done same even more recently

I like Cole as the Devil BUT I'm not so fond of his gang of losers, idk if I've ever seen a group made of a higher % of people who are just there to eat pins.
I feel like The Devil angle was honestly a low point for AEW: a predictable, underwhelming, drawn out, and disappointing payoff of a mid-card at best faction - the leader of which is still currently injured - turning against the heatless former babyface champion who's leaving for who knows how long while the new champion instantaneously felt less important. This was an angle that AEW had to knock out of the park but instead it was a swing and a miss.
Opener was really fun, then there was a real slump of mid card matches. with a decent final 2 matches. Edge/Christian was ok, but it did nothing for me 2.5/5 overall
MJF losing the bet due the Cole stalling with the ring is a callback to the Punk feud with Wardlow doing the same. MJF cheated Joe by choking him out at Grand Slam so for Joe to get his justice by doing the same is what he wanted. We need to hear what Adam Cole says on Dynamite
I made the mistake of not goi g to the show because I thought it was too cold a card, and in sime ways I was right. That said, I wish I had gone just to be part of a crowd getting behind MJF and see some of these guys wrestle before they retire.
I guess this means we won’t get any more of Roddy’s “Adam!” bits. Shame

I think you and I have a very differing opinion of what makes a good wrestling match... Because in my opinion, that match was terrible and typified everything I dislike in pro-wrestling.

The Christian/Edge double switch and Killswitch giving him the contract after everything was.........hmmmm. seems like a horrible way to use Edge. Shortest AEW title reign in company history. And all the crap to Killswitch from Christian only to give in felt like undoing some of the storyline. Not a fan. I liked Edge winning but then the afterwards was meh.
Is anyone else slightly worried for Mox? He is supposed to be AEW’s ace and he is the guy they rely on the most, but most of the year he has lost all the big matches. Had the title, built up to face CM Punk, lost. Got the title back when Punk got suspended, built up to face MJF, lost. Built up for BCC vs The Elite, lost. Built up to face OC for the 2nd time, lost. Now built up to face Kingston, lost. Other than the 3 weeks after beating OC the 1st time, he has been built up just to lose. This is the type of booking that killed Bray’s characters that was so disappointing.

He was the only person in the tournament to go 5-1 (including the triple treat) and same with being built up to face MJF, he was booked like a killer going into the match.. for the exact reason you stated.. so that when the other person wins, they look great. I think you’re taking me saying “built up” as in “built up to win” but when I say “built up” I mean built up as this unbeatable killer. 2) I get the difference between Mox and Bray with Mox having a proven track record that Bray never achieved… maybe you would have preferred I used modern John Cena? Prove track record, built up to face someone, only to put the other person over in the end.. that’s been Cena since like 2018. 3) I’m not at all worried about Mox being pushed down the card and definitely not to ROH status lol. I agree with you that they use Mox in these spots bc he can take the loss without losing credibility, but that only lasts so long. Eventually ppl just know that he always loses in the end and THEN the loses credibility. You can only use him like that so many times.. and they basically did it 4 times in a row this year. Which is why I asked if it’s time to start worrying about how he is being used/booked. 4) I actually came up with this take on my own. If you’ve heard it somewhere else I’d love to know where bc I’d probably like that person’s content since I agree with the take lol. 5) The PPV was a “C” the 1st half was filled and the last 3 matches were very entertaining. But whether or not I was entertained as a whole doesn’t change how I feel about Mox continually losing the big match. Maybe come 2024 they will do something where losing all these big matches makes him more focused to prove a point and it will all be worth it.
