Brian May recites a verse from "Scenes in Our Village."
"A Village Lost and Found" by Brian May and Elena Vidal - the first book published by the London Stereoscopic Company - collects a particular set of Victorian stereo cards by T. R. Williams, a famous stereophotographer of the time. Each card has a verse on the back. In this short clip from our conversation, Brian reads me one of his favorite verses.

In 2010, I had the opportunity to interview Brian May - but not about music! And not about astrophysics (at the age of 60, he famously completed his PhD, which he had been working on before he got busy as guitarist for Queen).
Since childhood, Brian May has been fascinated by stereoscopy or 3D photography - particularly the work of some of the great Victorian stereophotographers. His passion was so great that he ultimately resurrected the original London Stereoscopic Company, and became a modern publisher of books of stereoscopy.
In 2010, with the release of "A Village Lost and Found," the first book from LSC, he and his co-author Elena Vidal gave a presentation at Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Before his talk, I had a few minutes to speak with him about the book and his passion for stereoscopy.

A Village Lost & Found was my first taste of Stereoscopy. I love how immersive it was. I’ve been a fan every since. Thank to Brian Malow for bringing the topic of stereoscopy back! 🤩
A Village Lost and Found was also my intro to stereoscopy. I bought it when it was released and immediately started experimenting with a DSLR and Photoshop. And printing them to view in the Owl that came with the book. A few years later, on Instagram, I saw Brian posting stereos and talking about an app... and then I really got into it because of how easy it had become.
