My dad Bobby Sheen sang the theme to “out of this world” we still have the production company cards that used the same logo as the show. He collected royalties up until it went off the air.
Wish that would go onto DVD, also then you might be able to get royalties again.
Yea out of this world is extremely hard to get we need DVD I know there starting to bring back a lot of 80s tv programs on DVDs
That's awesome! The song makes the show!
I’m 44 years old and I remember all these shows.I was a radio/TV junkie as a kid. Thanks for the history of these shows I never new why the Valerie Family became the Hogan Family until now 👍 👍
Yeah, I can see why it was changed. I would have kept the original title. When people hear Hogan Family first thing pops in their head is Hulk, Linda, Nick, and Brooke.
@@the80skid20the Hogan family was lame
It sounds like you had a very similar childhood to me as we're the same age.
@jwb52z9 I really miss those good ole days where life for us kids was amazing. Well, for the most part, it was. Cartoons on Saturday morning and wrestling superstars on at noon. Movies, TV shows, technology, etc etc. If I could be allowed to go back in time to any Era I definitely would choose the 80s over and over again.
@@the80skid20 so do I but the Hogan family was lame Jason Bateman was on a better short-lived show called it's your move and it got cancelled I don't know why the hell it happened it was a lot better than the Hogan family and it had the dude that was the first neighbor on married with children
Yes . Out of this world. Loved that show. Always wanted to be able to freeze time especially during test time in school.
Also Jerry O'Connell in My Secret Identity .
@@treesoul00 Yes. Back then I also wanted the power to use for bad, such as freezing time to get tons of Thrifty Ice cream, etc. Haha
Thank you Mr. Crucial! You schooled us on some deep cuts. For your consideration in your part two episode: “Sledge Hammer!” (1986 to 1988) “Small Wonder” (1985 to 1989), “Too Close for Comfort” (1980 to 1983). ✌️
I remember small wonder, even as a kid I remember it was so bad it was good😂
Yeah not many remember sledge hammer 🔨 it was one of my favorites I loved how he treated his gun like it was his girlfriend and he sweet talked it before bed
Sledgehammer was wonderfully weird just like Max Headroom
@@formicaforever.. oh I loved Max Headroom .I was soooo disappointed when it was cancelled
Too close for comfort was cancelled in 1987 not 1983. 😤😁
I remember all of these shows Kurt. I remember watching The Hogan Family Halloween episode. Nightmare on Oak Street. The boys are all set for an evening of terror, watching a horror movie. However, when it's over each one of them is scared stiff and goes on to experience their version of "Nightmare at Zombie High." OK Kurt thanks for posting this awesome video.
I remember that episode!
@@roderickcortez138 yeah it was one of my favorite episodes. I just wish I could buy the series on DVD. Thanks and have a good day.
I’ve been watching out of this world on RUclips. I never heard of Brothers. I forgot about Dream On. I love your idea of Dream On with 80s and 90s movie clips.
@g-carsquad8262 yea I wish I could just pause and unpause stuff like Evie. Just imagine what you could do.
I was a teenager in the late '80s, and I loved the TV show, "Head of the Class." It was one of those shoes targeted at a teenage audience, and I greatly enjoyed watching it. It had what is, in my opinion, the best 1980s TV theme song, a glam-style hard rock song. In the mid 2000s, I actually found the full version of the song on the more-primitive Internet that existed then, but I don't know where to find it now.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane! SOAP was my favorite show! The only frustrating thing about SOAP was that the last episode was a cliffhanger...then the show got cancelled and the cliffhangers were never resolved! 😆
SOAP was a late 1970's (1977-1981) show that was ubiquitous in reruns in the 1980's. That's how I remember it.
I just finished watching Soap on Tubi tv. Right now I'm watching Charlie's Angels. Just finished Scarecrow and Mrs King, Eight is Enough, finished Fantasy Island Tubi tv.
@jamiesilverman773....that's what happened to ALF ..it ended on a cliffhanger
I remember watching Sledge Hammer at around 5pm during the week in 1990. Parker Lewis Can’t Lose was another good one.
My Two Dads and Double Trouble were a couple of my favorites
I forgot about many of these shows! Thank you!!
Oh wow. I remember all of these. My favorites we’re Who’s the Boss, Different Strokes, Growing pains, Soap, and Benson. There are so many other great ones from the 80’s. Can’t wait to see part two of this. I’m sure A-Team, Golden Girls, Alf, Family Ties, Night Court, Webster, to name a few will be on that list 😅 thank you for this trip down memory lane 💗
Punky Brewster was my favorite
Different Strokes and Family Ties were shown in Trinidad during the 80's. We then moved back to the Uk in 1986 where the majority of tv was from British shows.
More of these please! A gameshow episode would be killer. Shows like Fun House and Double Dare were a staple of my growing up years. Would love to hear your thoughts on all those old game shows.
You remember Fun House hosted by J.D. Roth . cool!
Remote Control on MTV.
Kurt, your videos bring so much joy!
Hey not a lot of people remember the cop comedy sledge hammer 🔨 it was like a Dirty Harry spoof series
Sounds really familiar
‘Trust me, I know what I’m doing’
- shoots camera
😂
@@DWINC yeah he slept with his gun under his pillow remember
I just got done watching both seasons on DVD
He got a loudner for Amigo
I subscribed a few months ago and I haven't been disappointed yet!
Garry Shandling Show, I was fortunate enough to attend the taping of an episode. During filming, a camera operator tripped and fell, which of course stopped everything. GS gave his full attention and discernible genuine concern for the crew member, who it turned out was shaken but unhurt. Garry then reminded everyone to work with care, that injuries can easily happen around the sound stage with all of its production equipment and set pieces.
Yeah I think the Gary Shandling Show on Showtime!
There have been SO many comedians just starting out during that time talk about how good it was for their career to be on that show and just how nice Shandling was. I often hear it referred to as the "comedian's show". So good.
RIP Garry Shandling 🙏🏽
That's so nice to hear about GS. I attended a taping of Who wants to be a Millionaire with Regis Phillbin and the moment the cameras stopped rolling his smile/joking persona disappeared (I was so disappointed).
@@alisachamoy225 yeah, what a faker, ei? Back in the 80s, I attended the taping of The Merv Griffin show. He was super relaxed and personable, both before the taping and during breaks. He made friendly small talk and chatter with the crew. Nice to see. 😊
One of my favorite shows from my childhood was “Get A Life”. Super original , weird, and very funny show starring Chris Elliott as a middle aged paper boy who lives with his parents. They would have some really clever over the top episodes. For instance there was an episode involving time travel, another that spoofed E.T., one where Chris becomes a male model. Charlie Kaufman was one of the writers along with a few Simpsons writers. Still one of the best shows.
Loved that show. Own the series on VHS and DVD.
I totally forgot that one
And the show Square Pegs.
It's like living on the moon!
Ahead of it’s time
Thanks Kurt this video was the 💩! Great memories 😊
This was fun, I really like your Idea for Dream On, they could call it 80s Life or Back to the 80s.😉 Keep on Truk'n.
Just The Ten Of Us was one of my all time faves! Really wish it would come out on DVD. Who's The Boss had a spinoff as well. It was called Living Dolls. Leah Remini amd Halle Berry were in this show. It only lasted maybe 1 season. Another obscure fave of mine was Rags To Riches. It was on NBC from March 1987- January 1988. So many great shows from the 80s!!
@jenlan1735 Speaking of Who's The Boss only season 1 has been released on DVD! How about A Little Bit Strange which starred a young Martin Lawrence just after we would see him on What's Happening Now!! A Little Bit Strange pilot aired once and that was it and is considered to be lost media. Only the promo from 1989 exists!📺📼📼🤷
Oh boy, what a great recap all these great TV shows. Thanks, Kurt
I was born in the 80s and raised in the 90s so I remember some shows that weren't that popular like Inside Herman's head, Parker louis cant lose, Baywatch nights, USA High, Going places, Swans Crossing, California Dreams, The Ben stiller show, Weird Science tv show, Monsters and lets not forget 90s Nickelodeon and MTV shows, That's another list.
Love this channel thanks for memories
Really enjoyed this video! I remember all of them and a couple I literally had forgotten since the 80’s. Although not really the 80’s but When I was in I think it was 7th grade home ec class I had what must have been the world’s laziest teacher lol. So much so that honestly I don’t know if I ever even knew who the teacher was but we literally spent the entire year watching Home Improvement lol! We’d get to class the bell would ring we’d watch two half hour episodes and bell would ring and that was it. I still to this day don’t know how the teacher really got away with doing that lol. We didn’t have to take notes. We had no test….nothing! We all got an A at the end of the year. I’ll never forget that class lol.
I LOVE everything 80s. I will literally sit there and smile like a jerk when I am watching old commercials or shows, music...stuff like that. I imagine it is bc it brings me back to my teen years! I remembered ALL of these and how excited was I when they did the reboot of Punky Brewster with all the same cast! I know it tanked, but my daughters and I loved it. Plus it gave me a chance to show them the original. My kids have loved lots of 80s shows...growing pains, who's the boss, facts of life, mork and mindy to name a few. Thank you for sharing these! ❤❤❤
WOW! I remembered all these shows except Hardball. You really found a diamond in the rough with It's The Gary Shandling Show. Yes indeed very funny ,even the theme song was funny. Yes definitely do a part 2, There are plenty of shows from that era that are completely forgotten...
Wow thank you for the great memories. I'm 52 years old and watching this brought back so many great memories
I remember the Hogan Family! It was one of my favorites! I really liked Sandy Duncan!
Netflix just added the pilot episode of The Incredible Hulk now I'm on a mission to watch the series in order.
That intro to Valerie really brought me back. I haven't seen it in over 30 years. I am 44. That was one of the top shows back then. How could a show like that just disappear?
Valerie got fired
I mean the when it was The Hogan Family it disappeared too. I never saw it in reruns.@@SergioArellano-yd7ik
One of the more obscure 80s show that I remember fondly is "Bosom Buddies" which starred an actor who one day would be one of the biggest stars in the world - of course I'm talking about Peter Scolari
Growing Pains was by far my favorite 80e show. I can remember the whole family watching it every week. Simpler times, and so wholesome.
I loved it too, but now It hurts me to think about it since Kirk Cameron became a creepy religious zealot.
The show 'It's Your Move' with Jason Bateman was really good, only lasted one season. I wanna say '84 ish or so? Good cast, David Garrison from 'Married With Children' was in it, and Caren Kaye.
I agree. Was disappointed when it was cancelled. The show had a horrible time slot going up against Dynasty and other major shows.
Apparently it was cancelled due to young boys mimicking Bateman’s antics. Letters from parents apparently was the culprit.
Small wonder was a good show. It had a girl, who was a robot named v. I. C. K. I
Can't remember the dad's name , but he was in a lot of 80s shows
His name was Ted Lawsen. Hahaha. I watched that all the time. It also had the nosey neighbors, the redhead named Harriet and her mom was the assistant to the principal in Ferris Beuller.
Yea I remember small wonder’s and punky brewster 😂
Few ever talk about “Brothers” and that was my favorite! ❤️
Little known fact, While Kirk Cameron was on Growing pains he would have bets against Micheal J Fox on Family ties who could spin around more per episode.
Every time I watch your clips they bring back so many memories of my childhood. Despite the fact that I live in Poland many of these programs also aired in our country or we watched via satellite TV. Thanks a lot for the great work you do. Greetings from Poland
I knew and watched all of these shows except Brothers, Out of This World, and Hardball. Took me back. Thanks!
I loved It’s Gary Shandling show too. I’m right there with you on the theme song.
I'm 41, but I remember enjoying Different Strokes, Facts of Life, Punky Brewster, Webster, Growing Pains, Mr. Belvedere and of course, Full House and Family Ties
I vaguely remember Hardball. I do know that I wanted to see it because of "Buddy Revell". One of my all time favorite shows from the 80's is Tales of the Golden Monkey, which coincidentally starred Caitlin O'Heaney who played a teacher in Three O'Clock High.
I grew up in the 80's, so most of these are familiar to me. I think my favorite shows in the 80's...ones I never missed, were MacGyver, Perfect Strangers, Growing Pains, Family Ties and Cheers. And I know your channel is more about the 80's, but I also miss many of the first-run syndicated action shows that were big in the 90's. I LOVED Xena Warrior Princess(huge crush on Xena and Gabrielle), but also shows like Hercules, Sheena, Sinbad, Relic Hunter, Highlander, Renegade, etc. Sure, they were campy, but I really enjoyed them, and miss seeing those kinds of shows today.
I've seen clips of OUT OF THIS WORLD and all I've got to say about it is damn, Evie's bedroom set is so hardcore '80's designed. The pastel's bright colors are permanently burned into retina.💗😂✌️
We had great TV shows back than I rarely watch TV anymore. I am 54 I watched them all. Miss the 80s
Just the 10 of Us was criminally underrated!
MIssing SO many other obscure ones. Misfits of Science, Whiz Kids, Tales of the Gold Monkey, Bring 'em Back Alive, Automan, Blue Thunder (Crappy version of Airwolf with Dana Carvey), Riptide, Street Hawk, T.J. Hooker, S.W.A.T. Double Trouble, The Enforcer, The Wizzard, Mr. Belvedere, Small Wonder, Mama's Family, Gimmie A Break, 227, Kate & Allie, Head of The Class, B.J. And The Bear and it's spinnoff, Sheriff Lobo. More popular ones: Simon and Simon, Hunter, THe A-Team, Knight Rider, Hardcastle and McCormick, Dallas. I'm TOTALLY a product of growing up in the 80's. Like.....as if.
Funny, I just mentioned small wonder in my comment
Totally
Fer Shure!
Im 45 and I remember all these shows! Great video my friend. Subbed!
Hey Kurt, I have a few shows to throw in the mix.
Wiseguy- I loved the first season. You could kinda tell that David Chase took some ideas from this show to create the Sopranos. It was before Goodfellas and that era of mafioso films. Jonathan Banks is also in it who played Mike on Breaking Bad.
Head of the Class- I absolutely loved this show. I caught it on reruns on TV Land about twenty years ago or so but the original first few seasons were hilarious.
Charles in Charge- One of the classic theme songs from 80s sitcoms. The show was originally canceled but brought back with a new cast outside of Scott Baio. The dynamics between Mr. Powell and Charles was great and who did not have a crush on Nicole Eggert during this period?
Was anybody else a fan of these shows?
There is one masterpiece that never seems to get any recognition from the 80's . That is " I's your Move " starring a very young Jason Bateman , only 1 season and it vanished . Definitely in my top 5 from the 80's
Thanks Kurt. I really appreciate all the effort you put into everything you do for this wonderful channel 🇮🇪
I remember Out of This World as one of the shows that aired on Saturday afternoons during the 4:00 hour. It's partner show was My Secret Identity , which starred Jerry O'Connell as a teenager who stumbles into his neighbor's experiment and gains superhuman powers. It had a not quite, but similar chemistry between the leads that reminded me of Doc Brown Marty from Back to the Future.
Oh yeah don’t forget Silver Spoons, they way a young Jason Bateman used to hit on Erin Grey was hilarious
I remember watching who’s the boss with my mother and my brother when I was a kid in the 90s. That was a great time. Great great time thank you for the memories man Thank you.
We need a part 2
You can't forget Mr Belvedere, and My two dads they too were 80s popular shows that few remember.
Loved “Diff’rent Strokes”. Dana Plato was just too cute (R.I.P.), and in my late 20’s-ish, I had a t-shirt that said “I’m What Willis Was Talkin’ About!” I should dig that one out again! 😂 Great video as usual. So many great memories for this TV sitcom junkie!
I remember all but 3 of the shows you mentioned here! "Just the 10 of Us," "Brothers," and "Hardball" were all news to me. I avidly watched and loved all the others
Some of the 80s tv shows I’d love to have the complete collection….. out of this world….dance party USA is a teen dancing show from the 80s and scratch
a 90s teen magazine show… lost shows
I am 60 now! Some of the latter 80s stuff never heard of, but I spent most of my time overseas with the Army from 87 to 00! Thanks for the memories!!!
I only know the first two. Work and party must of kept me from tv. Great channel. I have flashbacks here.
My brother and I use to watch a show called Riptide. We loved it
I watched all those except Brothers. Love that you had Out of this World. I can't get anybody to remember that show.
"Who's the Boss" and "Growing Pains" were two of the mid- to late 1980s television programs that were broadcast in the Philippines. In my high school years, Alyssa Milano was frequently the object of the teenage boys' crushes. She was on my Brooke Shield, Phoebe Cates, and her poster collection because I used to like her a lot. I wish you would also include the 80s films you adore and advise everyone to see them based on your reviews.
Some other 80's gems were Family Ties, Coach, Alf, Mr. Belvedere, Golden Girls with spin off Empty Nest, Wings (90's), and the forgotten Small Wonder. Small Wonder was about a robotics engineer who secretly creates a life like robot and tries to pass it off as his adopted daughter. You know that tale as old as time.
Definitely do a follow up video. 👍
So many good shows. The 1 hour shows were the best...Buck Rodgers, Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, Airwolf, A-Team, MacGwver, TJ Hooker, V The series and Final Battle, 21 Jumpstreet, Moonlighting...I'm sure I forgot some...
Miami Vice, BJ and the bear, battle star galactica , scarecrow and mrs king, hunter , street ( night ) hawk can’t remember what it was called,
I'm 53 i remember all these good shows,
It's Gary Shandling's Show was on Fox Sunday nights (or Saturday?). My sister loved that show, loved the theme, and she had a crush on him 😆
Out of this world is up on youtube, all episodes
Great one, man! I remember all these shows. The mid-late 80s were my favorite era of television. A few shows you might remember are Night Flight on USA, Heart of the City (ABC) with Christina Applegate played a teenage punk rocker and dad is an LAPD detective. I Married Dora was another favorite. Saturday mornings had "2 Hip For TV"(NBC) with Ahmet Zappa and Colin Quinn. It was a daytime youth variety show that took place in a bowling alley. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Edie Burkell, and El Vez were musical guests. It was ahead of it's time. Up here in the SF Bay Area one of the PBS stations played a lot of BBC/UK shows on weekends. I remember Alexi Sayles "Stuff" and "The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole" and of course Young Ones. A lot of these shows introduced me to punk rock along with one of the local college radio stations KFJC
Kurt great video. I love the 80's shows. I watched and remembered half those shows. Dont remember Hardball. Street Hawk was one of my favorites but only lasted 1 year. Had a hugh crush on Samantha. Thanks again Kurt for the videos.
HAHAHA!!! HARDBALL!!! You got me on that one for sure. It looks like an (unintentional) borderline parody. Great video. I could go in for a bunch more of these review format types. Always excellent work, Kurt!
Watched them all in north Hollywood when I was a kid
4 best boy shows were dukes of hazard, airwolf, the fall guy, and hardcastle and mccormick
All great shows! Silver spoons is one of my favs.
My jam was MacGyver, the A-Team, Jeffersons, wings, and cheers
Please release the complete series of out of this world …probably one of the hardest to get I’ve been trying for a long time now….I really liked out of this world I had a crush on the girl in the show 😂…they will never make shows like that anymore to bad.
I remember watching syndicated shows on Saturdays nights like "My Secret Identity" and "Friday the 13th: The Series".
yep loved all those shows back in the day, love watching re-runs of them on youtube now, for nostalgia's sake, i just got done watching the complete series of ''WKRP in Cincinnati'' on youtube, next on my list ''The Fall Guy'' and ''TJ Hooker''. It's a shame there are no CHiPs episodes to watch on youtube, i have the boxset saved in my ebay watchlist , but it's real expensive, i'll buy it eventually!
Awesome episode! I remember most of these. Can't wait to see another episode with more missed shows. (I also grew up in the Valley and remember some of these from reruns in syndication on KTLA5. Great times. I feel like I'm the only person who remembers Family Film Festival on KTLA5 every weekend with Tom Hatten?)
Such great memories of all these great television in the 80's. Hey 80's I would love for you to give a request to get 1989 classic "Gleaming The Cube on blu ray. Because I know you have some connections. Thank you 80's life for all that you do.
Bring these shows back
Love your channel
Hi.
Im a new subscriber.
I was born in 84 so i was basicly a 90s tv kid but i do remember some of the 80 stuff. For some reason my childhood with watching tv shows didnt start till 1989. (Well besides Seasame street and mr rogers)
Id like to see the one with the clips of old movies and tv shows...that sounds freaking AWESOME!
Wow, I had thought about that show "Brothers" a couple months ago but couldn't remember the name. Thanks for covering that. As for your "Dream On" remake idea; "I'd buy that for a dollar!"
I remember "hardball, too"
My vocabulary comes from 80's skate videos and Fast Times at Ridgemont high.
Oh man as an only child I lived through my TV families 😅 in the 80'S and 90'S
You had showtime in the 80s that’s a big flex’s 💪🏽
OMG! I never knew anyone other than me who watched “Dream On.”
Silver Spoons is one of my all-time favorites.
great video
I remember most of these shows
I keep looking at the Powell Peralta poster behind you espicially the Kevin Harris logo.
loved the Scull in the RCMP mountie uniform
Tim in Toronto...
Watched Soap all the time! Great show!
Dream On was a very good show. Glad you mentioned it! I was just thinking about it a lot recently. And Garry Shandling is always funny as fuck too!
A couple I never heard of were The Ten Of Us and Brothers oh and Hardball watching “ Taggart “ Play baseball was hilarious great vlog Kurt.
I Just heard the first few notes and knew that it was The theme to Gary's show loved watching that back then.
I love your channel
I remember watching The Hogan Family. One episode that stands out in my mind was they were in the attic at the beginning playing with an old lamp. They leave with the lamp plugged in and their house catches fire
I remember BENSON ! Always liked that show
I LOVED Dream on. Favorite show at the time. VERY hard to find for a long time. Now much easier.
