This video is so comprehensive and helpful - the step-by step was great. I was skeptical before I did a search that I would find a video showing this repair on my recent model number, but here it is! I replaced the hinge as described in less than an hour. It was a great help. So helpful showing how to re-assemble as well. Would not have done this repair if it weren't for this video. Keep up the good work!
Oh brother no wonder a dishwasher cost so much, LOL trying to remove all that stuff and put it back together without losing anything would be a miracle for me.! Thank you for the wonderful video

Great video, only one I could find with this type of spring. On ours the spring came off and I was only able to put it back on without the plastic (since couldn’t extend enough to push through the hole with the plastic pieces… is there supposed to be a way to replace just the spring with the plastic pieces or when the spring comes off is the only thing to replace the whole hinge? Also , since it was able to connect without the plastic part we are just using it like that for now (sadly we are 3 months out of the 1 yr warranty).. is there something bad that can happen without the plastic piece?
Have you still had issues with this spring continuing to come off with put the plastic? I was able the pop mine back in with the plastic but after a month of use it pops off again.. What a pos design..
Our 5-year-old KA DW HINGE PIN HEAD sheered off (It's clearly visible in this video). The door still works but one of these days the door will probably fail. I'm told the PIN can't be replaced, it's an integral part of the frame. Due to this poor design, we may have to junk a $1200 DW. And we hope buying top-of-the-line American-made appliances was the way to go.
I really wish i would've bought a different dishwasher. Only have had it a year and replaced heating element. Now replacing the door gaket and left door hinge. Hey Kitchen aid, never purchasing your brand again.

Haven’t had any issues since - guess we’ve just been lucky then
How do you know which side needs replacement?
Why are we removing the power cables? Is that just a CYA step?
