During world war 1 Faiz sahab was posted in Germany and when he saw the conditions of the soldiers especially the french his heart that was filled with passion for his beloved took a turn. The horrors of war compelled him to have compassion for his fellow human beings. Hence the passion changes to compassion. He cannot love his sweetheart in the same manner , when his heart bleeds while his fellow humans are suffering
Tina Sani ji sang so beautifully..with lot of sukoon and Aada. It’s stupid to compare ..no doubt Madam noor Johan was legend but whatever she sang is so beautiful .i guess the musicians are local musicians from Kathmandu but played so well inspite of having less experience of playing ghazals.

Indeed, the love or one's country or majhab is above that of one's soulmate. This song of Faiz is a good example of socio-political idealism that can liven-up a thinking young generation. I am not surprised that Faiz's daughter was denied visa to India. Tina Sani has a heart-touching way of saying things. The Kathmandu socialites should be less-selfish in making these events accessible to the wider population by announcing these programs in advance through appropriate media.

huma iqbal I am surprised, comparing Noor Jehan immortal rendition of this ghazal with Tina Sani’s effort. She is nowhere near the magic created by noor Jehan. No offense to Tina, but in this particular ghazal she has no match with noor Jehan.
Such a melody. So softly contoured around alaap. Such a beautiful delivery of words. Ann ginnat saddiyun k baheemana tilasm. Wow so cultured and aesthetic. This nazm is sung in flashback while noor jehan ji has sung in the spur of present moment. No comparisons but both are legendary.
