    Mujh se pehli si muhabbat
    Mere mehboob na maang
    Beloved, don’t ask me to
Love you as I loved you before
Maine samjha tha ke tu hai to darakhshaan hai hayaat
Tera gham hai to gham-e dahr ka jhagda kya hai
I had assumed that as long as I have you, life is radiant
What anguish in the world could possibly rival the anguish of being without you
Teri soorat se hai ‘aalam mein bahaaron ko sabaat
Teri aankhon ke siva duniya mein rakkha kya hai
Teri aankhon ke siva duniya mein rakkha kya hai
Tu jo mil jaaye to taqdeer nigoon ho jaaye
Yoon na tha main ne faqat chaaha tha yoon ho jaaye
Your face is what lends permanence to springtime in this world
What is there in the world except for the beauty of your eyes
What is there in the world except for the beauty of your eyes
If I gain you, destiny would bow down before me
It wasn’t so, I had merely wanted it to be so
Haan.. Mujh se pehli si muhabbat mere mehboob na maang
Mujh se pehli si muhabbat mere mehboob na maang
Beloved, don’t ask me to love you as I loved you before
Beloved, don’t ask me to love you as I loved you before
An-ginat sadiyon ke taareek baheemaanah talism
An-ginat sadiyon ke taareek baheemaanah talism
    Resham-o atlas-o kam-khaab mein bunwaae hue
Ja-ba-ja bikte hue koocha-o baazaar mein jism
Khaak mein lithde hue khoon mein nahlaaye hue
The dark and savage enchantment of countless centuries
The dark and savage enchantment of countless centuries
Woven into silk and satin and brocade
Bodies everywhere being sold in lanes and marketplaces
Caked with dirt and bathed in blood
Lauṭ jaati hai idhar ko bhi nazar kya keeje
Ab bhi dil-kash hai tera husn magar kya keeje
Ab bhi dil-kash hai tera husn magar kya keeje
Aur bhi dukh hain zamaane mein muhabbat ke siva
Raahatein aur bhi hain wasl ki raahat ke siva
My gaze returns here as well, what can I do?
Your beauty is still enchanting, but what can I do?
Your beauty is still enchanting, but what can I do?
There are many other sorrows in this world besides the sorrow of love
There are many other delights besides the delight of union
    Mujh se pehli si muhabbat
    Mere mehboob na maang
Beloved, don’t ask me to Love you as I loved you before

Who is living in the Hearts of Millions of Peoples Worldwide.....While Noorjahan is the Malek Tabassum....and she is living in some of thousands of peoples of the world......We should accept and believe the true facts......Day is Dat and Night is Night.....Nobody can change this Natural System of God/Allah.....The Voice of Today.....Zaki Jamal.....Hyd....India.

There's no doubt about Madam Noor Jehan's melodious voice and her unique style of singing but her Urdu pronunciation was exemplary despite her being a Punjabi

What do you make of Mr. Faiz Ahmed Faiz's Urdu shairy, he is yet another Punjabi? Quite an interesting yarn he'd conjured up for the Madam to sing, yes?

    • @mohammedalijawaid1323
      @mohammedalijawaid1323 2 года назад

@@Asif-mz4pv yes, must emphasize there's no bias intended. it's the admiration of a perfect pronunciation by a native of a non-native language. in fact, when it comes to Punjabi poets you will see from Iqbal, to Faiz, to ahmed nadeem qasmi, to munir niazi, to amjad islam amjad and many more. all have immense contribution to Urdu poetry.

@@mohammedalijawaid1323 I remain exclusively a devotee of Ghalib; as the Urdu poetry begins and end with him. And it is my contention and insistence that since Ghalib no one has emerged to go beyond the high water mark established by him to this day. I don't know quite what to make of this, but the arc of poetry is most unforgiving.
Similarly poetry in the English tongue too hasn't seen a contender to take the baton from TS Eliot.
Poets' task is to show the society its true face ultimately; as they are the living breathing conscience of the society and help us see where have we gone wrong; giving the young marching orders so to speak; to help bring about a revival in arts; to infuse energy; to help us snap out of our besetting sin of lethargy and laziness.
It has been upwards of 150 years since the times of Ghalib and yet Urdu poetry arrested in the same old well trodden ruts, most infuriating. I'm fed up with such hyperbolic poetry that doesn not meet the Truth test.
See my attempt below where I have tried to explain Faiz's poesy. Cheers!

@@Asif-mz4pv Sorry, I couldn't find your attempt on Faiz. there's no denial of the fact that Ghalib an ultimate phenomenon in Urdu literature. while I respect your opinion but the kind of tasks you wanted a poet should do is unbecoming for a poet. Poets are not reformers they create art either through expressing their own ideas or through what's happening around them. like any other art this expression created by any poet may reflect romance, comedy, intense love, politics or any sensitive issues of the contemporary world they live in.

Here, the following is what I had posted, and I'm merely reproducing it for your pleasure, enjoy:
Mujh sei pehli si muhabat marei mehboob na mang!
      My translation in English:
Don't ask me, my beloved that initial love I had had for you!
Though Faiz loads much of his poetry lifting the very same beloved to amazing heights; while maintaining that the beloved still carries the same punch ... but the shine is off. And he goes as far as saying that there are matters more ghumbir than just mere love. Evidently he has grown up; that is the conclusion one is left with to draw. It is bitter-sweet poetry, and it wouldn't be fair if I didn't criticize the lover's sentiments as genuinely dishonest. Why go on to build up the beloved to such heavenly heights, only to reject as unwanted in such brutal terms, quite unmanly. (My opinion, and I don't mean to disrespect anyone. Thanks for reading).

Biggest difference between Indian music and Pakistani music is about repeatition. In Indian music singers doesn't improvise,or repeat their successful song.they maintain their sanctity of original song.In Pakistani music old , popular songs are repeated by original play back singers, they improvise and release it again.
