Please raise your hand if you’ve ever felt personally victimized by winter 😂…Jokes aside, we want to be SUPER clear on something. We absolutely LOVE The Lake & The Land, they’ll both always feel like home but there is just no way around it…winter is rotten and has no redeeming qualities. Sure, it felt empowering to not only figure out the problem but to literally break apart ice and go down and fix the waterline ourselves but c’mon, what the actual heck is our life?! Winter adds an obstacle to everyday life that you sort of just learn to live with…my parents actually pointed out while we were having dinner that this must all seem absolutely foreign to so many of you living in southern climates. The reality is, just because this is our “normal”, do we really HAVE to life with it? If you’ve been here for a while, you know we’re always dreaming & scheming…family is everything to us and as our parents are getting older, what if we could find a place that they could also escape to and enjoy during this time of year?? All that said, we won’t be back next Sunday, we’re taking a bit of time to immerse ourselves in a new place and seeing if it feels like home. Also…can you even IMAGINE what the plumbing bill would’ve been to diagnose and fix this?! Another project for the win! Love you all, can’t wait to share more soon xoxo

I lived in the woods for about 9 years, 30 miles from the closest freeway. Living on the river looked beautiful but it was one thing after another in that house. ESPECIALLY if anything happened to the wells, water lines, plumbing! Spring & Winter were the hardest (floods or frozen then floods) I'm not one bit sorry to live back in the city! It's a quiet little neighborhood & there's delivery! I have no intentions on moving again, but ya never know. Things happen. You do what you have to do!

In the fall I have two bales of straw put outside my house to line up where the kitchen sink is, open the cabinet doors, and let a steady stream of water run. If it still freezes, first, I use some tactical choice words, then I remove all the stuff under my sink and put in a small space heater, just long enough to thaw it out. Then I watch some tropical movie and cry.😂

At first watch of this video I was completely baffled as to why you didn't have water in this new house...!?! It does HAVE a central heating....Some kind of furnace, right ?
But then when you said that your water comes from the lake......Well... During the winter months THAT could easily get frozen up with the kind of temps y'all get up there !
But didn't you guys have a well drilled where your dome house is, with insulation around all the piping ??? Isn't there running water there ?
I personally DETEST being cold! And I think most people do... And that's exactly why California and Florida are WALL to WALL people !
Moving to some place like the Caribbean or Hawaii--(I've never been to either place) sounds and looks like Paradise, but there must be SOME REASON why all the rich Americans haven't already gone there and bought up all the land ???
So if you read this, I hope you'll analyze that while You're there and tell us (or at least ME) when you post your next video, WHY YOU THINK THAT IS ? (that those paradisical islands have not been over run already by the wealthy people across the globe ?)
      ENJOY yer selves !

I live in an old farmhouse in western NC. I always check the weather forecast each day in winter, because, yeppers, my water pipes will freeze too. I have to be vigilant and drip or run a tiny stream in all faucets to prevent it from happening. I'm having to do this a lot this winter. It's a drag, but this house was built by my grandpa in 1903; my mom lived her whole life here; and I was raised here myself. Old houses aren't simple and easy to live in and maintain. If you love your home and land as I do mine, it's well worth it. Good luck, boys.

I'm pretty sure COVID didn't help.
So many people/children got such a feeling of isolation that hadn't been anyone's normal.
The boys were used to living and working in the city.
I will admit to missing Todd's garden - if they don't put one in this year.
      All of those fresh vegetables!
They put in fruit trees, too! And berries!
I love their new place. The look of it is amazing.
But it's The Land I love.
I'd love to see them back there some day with a family of their own.
This is ALL about THEIR dreams!
They're so young and have so much more of their own living to do.
I hope they bring us along because I'm invested!
I'd love to see them happy.

Something is always going to go wrong and need to be fixed, no matter where you live, but you’re correct, winter just makes it all so much more ridiculous.

It is wonderful that your parents were close and able to help y'all.
You have invited us into your lives. I for one am grateful cause y'all are inspiring. You have taught me to keep going even during the deepest and darkest times.
Yes, we miss y'all next Sunday, but do what you got to do. We will be here when you get back.

Gosh, sometimes I think that if you don’t have bad luck, you don’t have any at all….
However, you were able to fix this with Todd’s dad all by yourselves! Quite an accomplishment! Despite all the setbacks you sustain, you are able to keep a smile on your faces. That alone is no small feat, so yourselves apart on the back! Your positivity is what keeps bringing us back week after week. You are wonderful rays of sunshine, in a world that contains so much negativity. Thank you for the truly wonderful men you are! You are a joy to watch! ❤

What I love about your vlogs is that you have one problem after another, and you solve them. I have watched you weekly whilst studying, and when things get difficult, I have drawn inspiration from your ability to work things out and how you have drawn on resources and the people around you for help. Please don't be disheartened you are such an inspiration.

I dont view this as quitting. I view this as giving yourself the break you deserve and need. Enjoy the warmth. Whatever you guys end up doing, we're here to support you all the way 🤗💚

I had hoped that situations like this were behind you with your move to The Lake. I feel so bad that the bad luck continues but I am so happy that Todd and Timmy could repair the hose. I haven't had hot water this week and even that has sent me spiraling. Enjoy your island getaway! You deserve a break. Take your time, relax, and refresh. Love you guys!

TBH, I have been incredibly inspired these past years watching you guys and truthfully, a bit jealous. That being said, I live in Hawaii and cannot imagine the winters in Canada. I feel like I fast forward through those episodes with winter and pretend its just building solar panels, outhouses, and gardening everyday on your land. The lake house looks gorgeous... in summer or a Christmas vacation where I could pretend to be a wild wilderness mama for a week max.

This brought back memories! The first year I bought my lake house, my water froze. The foot valve was in the lake but no one knew where it was and the ice was frozen solid (white) so I had to wait for spring. It was a couple of months of dragging spring water. Glad you could resolve your issues quickly
