2. Very powerful particle cannons are not good as piercing but as impact they are not only spectacular but powerful
Or with EMP because the EMP goes on for really long time causing a constant internal damage.
Explosive shock also seem to be pretty good after the patch.
Also, as with all other weapons, you can't hurt what you can't hit!
Sad thing is that lathrix isn't very good at building particle cannons so he's going to go back to boring lasers again.
I wish he would stay with particle cannons a bit longer, create a Tanky impact PC. And maybe little glass cannon ships that shoot emp particle cannons to take out heavily shield/armour active defence of enemy ships.

Well, our situation somehow managed to get worse. Reports indicate that lathrix has produced an airship worth over 500k resource. We have some fleets that are worth less than that. Even worse, it appears that he has already pretty much finished with the Onyx watch and has moved on to our neighbors, the steel striders. With this new airship in his arsenal, I have no doubt he will be finished with them very soon as well. If two trebuchets and a bulwark were barely even able to scratch it, what chance do we have?

Log 76# [sounds of sipping and sighing] I don't know anymore my bosses the twin guard are freaking out about the attacks on the steel striders, well technically I am also there ally but I really don't think we can help. I suppose I should start at the beginning, as said in previous logs I am a merc who is currently employed by the twin guard. As such the other factions that are allied with us are also employing me, but now the steel striders are under seige with no hope of survival. It all started down south, some new faction called the blood guard arose and completely destroyed the deepwater guard assimilating there barbaric styles. The weird thing is they spared the 12 pirate lords, only to make them labour helping the commoners. after that they shredded the lightening hoods like wet tissue then they assimilated them, same for the wight flayers. At this point everyone was scared of them, even there own ally's the onyx watch, who kept giving them ships to appease there leader lathland. The guy captures ships and twists them into monstrous beasts of war, the sickest thing is that they think they are the good guys soooooo I'm pretty sure this lathland did a acrobatic pirouette of the deep end long ago. But anyway rinse and repeat with the gray talons, then there ally's were assimilated, now it is just the st, us and the sd who aren't going to last long. Eros has prepared an emergency plan I'm to get off planet with a backup of her brothers and her own core. So here I am departing this planet I called home for so long to start afresh somewhere else, Somewhere peaceful. This is xipher signing off, good luck you guys.

Vehicle Logs: "Medrengard" Superheavy Air Dreadnought
Armed with two devastating Advanced Projectile Systems, heavy forward-launch cruise missiles, lighter VLS cruise missiles, huge torpedo batteries, and a massive particle cannon, the Medrengard is a true superweapon. It also has some extreme defenses, with maximum-strength shielding, several hundred tons of armor, and heavy anti-munitions laser systems. It's basically a flying brick though. However, it has proven very well as a replacement for the Bloodthirster Heavy Airship.

Personal log #6:
I was able to reach the refinery just in time, the Blood guard had sent a monstrous airship which was engineered by Lathrix himself toward the outpost guarding the refinery, it was able to wistand the onslaught of a Bulwark and two Trebuchets with only a dent in its armour.
When I reached the refinery I immediately rushed toward the engineering bay in search of Erika.
When she saw me she immediately ran toward me and said: "Cyber ?! Is that you ? what happened to you ? we lost contact with the Onyx throne a few hours ago !".
"There is no time to explain" I replied "We must go away now, the Blood guard has gone rogue and we won't be able to stop them".
Luckily for us two, the outpost did not get the message of the Blood guard's betrayal yet and I was granted access thanks to my previous title in the Blood guard.
Once Erika and I escaped the attacking airship and watched powerless as the refinery got shredded into a pile of scrap metal, Erika suddenly asked me what was happening and where I disappeared all of these months. I told her about how the Blood guard took me as a test subject for their prosthetics and my engagement as a minister for them.
"So the rumors are true ? you were working for that lunatic and assisted in his massacres, I'm sorry but even if you are my friend I won't cooperate with a traitor from the Blood guard, even if your so called 'corn' or whatever is going to hang my head on a pike",Erika said.
"Listen I did not have the choice, when the Blood guard stuck their prosthetics onto me after the accident they threatened me of ripping them off and hanging my body on top of their ships unless I worked for them, I tried to keep Lathrix from attacking the Onyx watch but he started getting suspicious of me. Despite my less than ideal childhood within the Onyx watch I would never want harm done to this fantastic country or to you.
I am truly sorry, I was weak of will and scared but now I regret all I did, sadly there is no more hope in stopping the Blood guard, but the only thing I can do to save my honor is desert them and try to save you. Please forgive me Erika",I said.
Erika took a few minutes to look at the now ruined refinery being set ablaze as the Blood guard's airship was hovering above it and turned back toward me:"Cyber I can't forgive you for what you've done just yet, but I suppose it is true that it's too late to stop the Blood guard now so I shall follow you since it is all I have left, much like you. Now do you know a place we can live safely in ?".

Uh, there seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding. You see Lath, the SD aren't actually finished, some of the new designs (my Singularity included) have updates pending, and many of the hovercraft and a few planes are in desperate need of a complete overhaul. So please deal with the TG first if possible.
Well that was already the plan, and that's a shame to hear they are still being worked on - I did hold off some skirmishes with them earlier in the series from people asking to me wait back then too :P
I will hold off with them being the last faction, but I can't wait forever haha ^^
Lathland you could go into devtest, there are still a few updates pending, but they will all stay there until the next update, and a fair few are working there. It is also bug free for now, as all the features and bugs got eumped in 2.00.

The Singularity is pretty crazy, but it currently has a roll issue that can leave it crippled in prolonged fights. The guys who made it said they have a fix ready, hoping that comes through in time. Same guys are trying to make a new Scarlet Dawn (the actual HQ unit).
You could try making a laser with a firing rate restriction, let it recharge between shots. Use the setting on the LWC to make it work.
I think it still has the same roll issue. When test-firing my railgun against the Singularity, I got it to lean on its side and warp right into the sea floor. When it attempted to fly back up, it shredded itself.
You should try EMP particle cannon, it can be really powerful with reasonable energy cost. It only has to be accurate enough to hit and it will take those annoying shields down!

Railguns are completely useless against shields - and godly enemies are pretty much all shielded.
It can target small objects and flyers and like that
its possible to make them anti shields

Lath! I've been messing around with Hesh shells. (Squash head, HE warheads, internal fuses. The shells that make the blue fragments) and between gauges 300-500mm they seem to be extremely effective with 2-4 meter shell racks depending on the gauge of course. Also instead of using fragment on the missiles try explosive/ EMP hybrid. Love your videos btw :)

Re Kitakami:
You are half-right. The Kitakami was a Kuma-class Japanese torpedo cruiser that had most of its main cannons removed to make room for an assload of torpedo tubes (incidentally, both Kuma and Kitakami are in the Dangerous World past of FTD)
However, the only thing the Steel Striders' Kitakami shares with its namesake is the missile spam. While the IJN Kitakami had torpedoes, the SS Kitakami has air missiles which can strike enemy air and surface vehicles. Also, the IJN ship did not have a support aircraft, but the SS ship does.

2. The Warlord (Decommissioned for it's ludicrous cost)

You can make a Super railgun with shells up to 30 meters long for the Mesrengard main weapon. You just need to put your input feeders directly on the cannon breach.

i love the way u had the bloodthirster set up, those lasers really helped. I think your cannons ought to tear larger ships apart, even if theyre slow.
Two suggestions:
1.
Extend the wing segments and incorporate small pulsed lasers into them, and replace the particle cannon with a continuous laser running down the spine of the Medrengard.
2.
Create a sister ship with two massive lasers on the top and bottom and possibly a small hangar at the back for a drone of some kind.
I believe the Kitakami was a WW2 Japanese Cruiser.
Asphodel the Heritor was a Chaos lord, he was the villain in Necropolis, the third book of Gaunt's Ghosts.
More firepower is never a bad thing and I think the blood God would be happier seeing you shred the enemy with a laser
Why not make a bomber that uses ammo ejecters in place of bombs

You place an autocannon (simple weapon) pointed at the ammo ejector, which destroys it and ejects the bomb shells in whatever direction it is placed. A system that triggers the gun when above the enemy will release all the bombs at once, but requires tweaking to get the timing right.
Lath, personally I feel that a laser would be a good idea because I do really enjoy watching your enemies die in seconds; particle cannons just aren't very visual. Also the Merengard's design is idyllic and I adore it.

Yeah I even looked at the radar buoy at that point, when I say flare I tend to mean any combination of flare-radar buoy-sonar buoy since they all have similar effects on different missiles, obviously not completely accurate but easier to say quickly in a fight :P
Make the particle cannon more focused on kinetic damage, in order to get that amour damage this vehicle needs.
I've found the simple lasers to be extremely effective for their size: a 2 axis turret with 2 simple lasers on each side is an extremely easy to build weapon that is great on big crafts as a secondary weapon. A bunch of them on the sides of this ship could be pretty fun

If you still want to build the capital ships after the gods i suggest that you give them nicknames of those gods. For example Khorne's will be the blood god, Tzeentch's will be changer of ways and so on. Hope you like that
The medrenguard (whatever it is) has an adorable bug face, with its little mandibles either side of the PAC and the 360 radars as the eyes.

Before removing the particle cannon, turn it into an EMP dispenser.
Lovely against shields. ~40% damage and attenuation, about 0.9 overclock. Going by your size it should do something like 100000 dmg per bolt.
I was really impressed with the Medrengard. What ever it's performance may be, it's one of your most creative creations yet.Also up-voting high calibre railgun to replace the PC.
10:30 - Asphodel is also the name of one of the three areas of the Underworld from Greek mythology - the Asphodel Meadows, where most people - i.e. those that didn't do anything very significant - ended up in the afterlife.
Asphodel is a place in greek mythology where the dead go if they have just lived but did not do much good or do bad.
Lathrix you could make a suicide craft with 500mm shell explosive racks on the nose if you thought Nukes were too efficient!

Thanks for all of the work that you do. I enjoy watching your videos. If you want to put a laser on the front feel free to. Personally I am partial to having a massive death cannon coming out of like a dragons head, but that's me. Something you may want to consider is having a few flak cannons on the side for small flyers or anything that comes within 1000 ft. of the ship. Just a thought. Once again thanks for the hard work you put in to this and keep it up!

My vote? Replace the plasma weapon with a large cannon array, i'm thinking a 'shred cluster' of numerous advanced multi-barrel gatling cannons. Should turn a Bulwark into iron filings and blood paste in about 6 seconds :P Thoughts??
Despite being late, I hope my opinion is valid:
I prefer the laser system, but if you only add one q splitter (?) make it fire once per second with massive damage in that one shot. Make it like a discount particle cannon, but actually good.
Hey, Lath. I have an idea for a neat challenge campaign for after this one. You can have one structure and one vehicle per resource zone you control. Also, you should limit each vessel not by a volume limit, but by a cost limit. If you ever do this idea, you know more about ship cost than I do, so you should set the cost bar yourself. :)

Three sets of fuel engines (Taken from the Scorpion and slightly modified.) Then two electric engines powered by RTGs and the run off of the fuel engines :)

Kitikami is a remodeled Kuma class crusier from world war 2, she was a torpedo cruiser with 5 quad torp launchers on each side of the ship.
Yes lath there is a cruiser named Kitakami in the IJN fleet she is a Kuma class light cruiser converted to a Torpedo cruiser.
Lathrix you should after each victory over a faction have some sort of "parade" episode that showcases the vehicles used to conquer that faction

Comparing the bloodthirster and the medrengard medrengard looks:8 out of 10 firepower (compared to its size and energy consumption):6 out of 10 bloodthirster 8 out of 10 firepower with no laser 10 out of 10 looks 8 out of 10 that is what I think also I love your videos keep up the good work
beside exchanging the particle gun, how about adding a small laser on the top/bottom to deal with very fast (and maybe small) enemys with high precision?
it doesn't need to be overly powerful, just having a weapon that can accurately hit fast enemys is already a good addition.
Beware of the fury, and the SS has good flyers, and their main fortress is named Damascus, also love the airship! Gl and hf
tiny, short range, fast firing particle cannons are the best for small fast moving enemy. they just pluck them out of the air.
I do believe the Toad is named after a certain species of, well, toad that has it's eggs embedded into it's back. As a result it's back is covered in holes. In the FTD Toad, the holes house missles/torpedoes instead of eggs.

i think you should stick to particle cannons, sure right now its not working as well as a Laser, but at the same time, you haven spent a long long long time using laser and im sick of it.
So it's nice to see you learning to use a new weapon system, i think you will get better at making a particle cannon that will work for you and we will enjoy watching you build and learn along the way! :D

The James11 rails are shit. They can't do anything except AP but then Just use miniguns. There's no kinetic impact round, only AP
@@jipdevries1541 I have a really good railgun that primarily has HE shells with AP heads, or Frag with AP heads.
Lathrix, I'd also like if you put a giant, fat cram cannon on the back. The laser is fun and stuff but a giant cram cannon is awesome and can be really powerful, as you already know. And another reason for me requesting this is that I like giant guns.
You should make an AP rail gun with at least 1800+ speed. Sniper would take out the annoyances without having to use lasers. Would snipe their critical components. Goal of the bullet would be to shoot straight through the enemy
I really enjoyed your use of the particle cannon, and I would be interested to see you make it work for you. It looked similar to your concept with the warlord, outlasting the enemy and destroying them with hundreds of cuts.
You might try using more than one particle cannon with multiple particle accelerator lenses to create a kind of shotgun to perforate enemies with piercing volleys for a more noticeable and reliable effect. Im not sure how much room you've got in that nose.
Your Particle Cannon weapon seems too powerful for what you are doing with it anyway. If you pierce all the way through an enemy, some damage is wasted as it goes through the other side to hit nothing, unless you've min/maxed it perfectly somehow so the beam deals only the correct amount of damage to pierce all the way through the ship and nothing more. I also wonder if you have your cannon and energy weapons using the same AI, as that could explain aiming problems, but you've worked with lasers before so Ill bet you're squared away there.
RTGs would also be better in the long run considering how defensive the thing is, I doubt you will ever have to do major repair work considering how it acts like a space weapon sitting at range.

I wonder, is it possible to create a craft, that spawns small attachments/weapons, agains certain enemies? Like... A mother ship spawning laser-based crafts agains laser-weak oponnents, but spawning adv-cannon crafts against other enemeis?
Rather than weapon type restrictions I feel that reducing the engagement range would make for more interesting fights. Most enemy craft aren't set up to properly engage targets at long ranges (1.5 to 2 kilometers away)
Lath will you ever show the internals of some of your vehicles and explain why you design things in a way (i.e. engines/ advanced cannons etc) ?

Replace the particle cannon with a high damage pulse laser, and replace the underperforming advanced cannons with continuous lasers. :3
Also, have you considered placing an EMP mortar or mortars on the top back? Might be a good way to counter shields/mainframes?
Lathland, Have you thought about having a turret with the gravaton ram that only fires when an enemy gets too close?
Amazing ship, instead of adding a laser where the particle cannon was, add a max size, multi barrel CRAM cannon! That would put out some damage :P
