  • The .380 ACP Glock 25 has been around for a while, but not available in the United States until recently. It's the same size as the Glock 19 and 23, but can it use the Glock 19 mags?

    Funny people have never heard of it. If there's one Glock everyone has been asking for, for decades, it's been the 380s.

    Thanks for the review! I have known of the Glock G25 and G28 for years, but I never thought that they would ever be available in the USA. If it wasn't for the misguided section of the Gun Control Act of 1968, they would have been here a long time ago in Austrian manufactured form. But, since Glock has a manufacturing facility in Georgia, they made it happen. I'm a bit of a Glock collector and wouldn't mind having one of each in my collection.

    My wife tried to like the 43X and while she can shoot it accurately, the recoil is hard for her and it takes her a while after she adjusts her grip for a follow up shot. She can put one on top on the 1st shot but it takes time. She took over my G44 for EDC so as soon as they became available I got one. She shoots that G25 like a beast. 15 rounds rounds she makes it look like she shot a 12ga slug. I want one now

    Firstly, thanks for the video. What I find appealingly amusing is that you're hitting with the thing at distance and weak handed....with standard Glock sights. There are purveyors of optics that I doubt could make those hits strong handed, two handed, on a rest, and with an optic on it. Good stuff. Thank you.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I know the terms "strong hand" and "weak hand" are in common use, though I prefer "primary hand" and "secondary hand" or "support hand", as I don't want my brain to think I have a "weak" hand. And after shoulder surgery my primary hand/arm (right) is no longer my "strong" arm. But shooting with my left hand is something I should be doing more of, as one never knows when that skill may be needed.

    Hang in there regarding your shoulder injury. I have had the misfortune to have experienced three separate shoulder surgeries, two on hyena right in 1995, and 1 on the left in 2009. The recovery times of 4 months seemed like an eternity each time. It will be worth it once you get your shoulder back and healthy. Thanks for showing us the .380. This might be the best gun for my oldest daughter. She is a bit recoil sensitive.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  3 месяца назад +1

      The G25 does seem easier to shoot than the G19. Once my doctor approves shooting more with my right hand, I'll have to do a recoil comparison between the G25 and G19. (I may even throw the G23 into the comparison.) Thanks for watching.

  • @brianc1701
    @brianc1701 3 месяца назад +1

    Great review (as always)! I wonder if the G19 would accept the G25 guide rod, perhaps it would then extract the 380 rounds and cyctle? Best of luck with your recovery!

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for watching and for the suggestion. I just took the slides off both the G19 and G25 and the guide rod/recoil assemblies are different at the muzzle end and can't be swapped. Even if they could be swapped, the .380 case, being shorter than the 9mm case, wouldn't head-space in the 9mm chamber, it would only be held by the extractor. That could create a reliability problem, as the .380 case rim is approximately 0.02" smaller than the 9mm case rim. But hey, it was worth a try.

    I saw one of these for sale and was surprised, I hadn't heard about this model. It appears it still uses a tilting barrel, just with a slant cut on the barrel. Is this correct?
    Thanks for the video!

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for watching. It does still use a tilting barrel, as the lugs at the bottom of the barrel are essentially the same as on the G19/G23. However, without the barrel-to-slide lockup at the front of the chamber, the slide doesn't have the resistance that it has on the other Glocks, therefore making it more of a blowback action, rather than a locked breech action.

  • @billspen
    @billspen 3 месяца назад

    Good review. Thought you might want to know that you can mount the 25 slide, 25 recoil spring and the 25 barrel on a 19 gen 4 frame. I'm a left handed shooter and the 25 frame is a Gen 3 and thus the mag release is not reversible. You can reverse the mag release on the 19 gen 4 frame. Too bad you can't find a 25 barrel, 25 recoil spring and 25 slide only if a person already has a 19 Gen 4.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  3 месяца назад

      @billspen, I've seen G25 barrels and recoil assemblies, but not the G25 slide. The price of those components would probably be close to the price of a new G25. You could also use the G19 slide, though reliability would benefit from a G25 extractor, as the rim diameter of the .380 is about 0.02" smaller than the 9mm.

    • @billspen
      @billspen 3 месяца назад

      For what I can determine the 19 extractor is the same as the 25. The 380 bullet falls too low in the 19 barrel thus the extractor can’t extract the bullet.

  • @Johnny-jr2lq
    @Johnny-jr2lq 20 дней назад

    Idk if 380 is as close to 9 as you say. I have tried to shorten 9mm brass to make 380acp cartridges. And it didn’t work if I remember correctly the 380acp is like a few thousands smaller at the case head. I mean over all 380 is a very close smaller version of the 9mm. But if a reloader wants to make some 380acp out of 9mm it doesn’t work.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  20 дней назад

      When I say the .380 is basically a 9mm short, that's the semi-official designation (9mm kurz literally means 9mm short). However, even though the .380 takes the same diameter bullets as the 9mm, the case diameter and rim diameter are ever-so-slightly smaller. The 9mm shell holder doesn't work for .380 cases in presses and primer tools. Thanks for watching and adding the info.

    The Clock 25 is a Gen 3 Glock. Not Gen 4.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  Месяц назад +2

      You are correct. Though technically, I didn't actually call the G25 a Gen 4. I did, however, make reference to the G19 Gen 4 and put the G25 side-by-side with the G19 Gen 4, so there certainly was that implication. But thanks for watching and making that clarification.

    Thank you very much for this video. It's interesting to see that the G25 is now available in the US. It is also interesting to see that you are able to hit some targets at 50 yards with it.
    But, in your current situation, how do you compare it with a Shield EZ, a Security-380 or even a LC-380? How easy to to load and use is it for you?
    Thank you in advance for your answer.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange  3 месяца назад +3

      Thanks for watching and commenting. As to comparison: I have the Shield EZ and Security .380 (i reviewed the Security .380 a while back), but I don't have the LC 380, which is in a totally different class of gun due to it's size.
      I won't compare the G25 with the EZ, as the EZ is a single stack gun with a grip safety (and some have a manual thumb safety) and I've seen many shooters struggle to get a good enough grip to press in the grip safety. So, of the guns you mentioned, the G25 is closest to the Security .380. Spoiler alert: As much as I like Glocks, I much prefer the Security .380. It is lighter and feels better in the hand. It is easier to rack than the Glock and, due to it's size, it is a little easier to carry. However, some may discount the Security .380 because it has a manual thumb safety, but that's just a matter of training. (Don't EVER carry a gun that has a manual safety with the safety disengaged. Instead, train, train, train, to reactively disengage the safety as you come up on target.)
      I hope this answers your question.

      Totally subjective, but I think the Security .380 has a better felt recoil than the G25. If you haven't checked my Bul Mini Cherokee video, I did a side-by-side with the Bul, G25 and Security .380 showing recoil of each.
