Just the “plain” GTX560 , not even the Ti model and not even the 2GB version ( I still have my *GTX560Ti 2GB Phantom* from Gainward) and yet ,some decent numbers considering its age.
I’ve said it many times that if we take in account the performance we see in current tests … a proper Fermi GPU ( *GTX580 3GB* , or a *GTX560Ti 2GB* ) could still perform wonders *if the drivers were up to date* !!
based on a super-capable and an all-around compute-based architecture ,a properly implemented Fermi(like the 2 models I mentioned) ,with proper driver support ,might not achieve very high fps but it is very capable to get the job done…
Thank you for these tests ,Fermi is my most nostalgic architecture.

The 560ti with the extra memory was the only 560 worth buying. The other 560s were just upclocked 460 with the bus intact. When the 560 came out they changed the 460 to version 2 and cut the bus from 256 to 192. You could buy 2 460s for the price on a single 560. Then all you had to do was connect the sli bridge and overlook them to get better performance than the 560s.

A hair better than a GT1030 (DDR4) or a little bit slower than a GTX750/GT1030(GDDR5) albeit with a massive power draw. The 1030's are still supported by newer drivers for now and has very low power consumption. This is best suited for free to play online games on any old 4 core processor, but if you plan to play any AAA games released in 2018 or later then prepare to be disappointed ^_^ I had the 560ti (50usd used) and it served me well from 2016 to 2018 until it was replaced by GTX 1060 3gb (199usd bnew) which I'm still using to this day in 2024!!

You should try to limit the FPS in riva tuner options, to test if the 0.1% low improve in several games/cards. You will be surprised in some games, even if the limit is near the average (60fps would be the limit with more sense, to "work better" on older monitors but even for all range of fps, 45, 90, 120, 144, etc).
And try Dirt Rally 1 with older pc's. Ego engine will surprise you and it's a great game to test and very cheap nowadays.
    Keep with the good work!

Note there are some earlier GTX 460s which had 2GB (I have two), back when NVIDIA allowed AIBs to make VRAM-doubled SKUs, and some of them run much the same or faster than that 560's 810MHz clock, while other 1GB 460s were already faster anyway (such as the EVGA FTW which had an 850MHz core, I had two in SLI, or there's the Palit Sonic Platinum 1GB which had an 800MHz core).
Infact the 560 had the same shader/TMU/ROP config as the 460, due to it being just a cut down version of the 560 Ti. Worse, the existing 460 v2 was considerably faster (despite the lower ROP count) and could oc like crazy, eg. there's an EVGA model with an 867MHz core which can usually oc to 1GHz+ (I ran my pair at 1025MHz), which made them especially nice in SLI, also because they were very well priced, though alas the v2s didn't receive the doubled VRAM treatment, probably because by then NVIDIA realised how often people were buying such cards to achieve top-end performance at a much lower cost than premium models, sans the lesser VRAM (it didn't matter a hoot for games like FC2).
The 560 Ti finally increased the shader/TMU count for midrange SKUs (a full GF114), though it had the same 32 ROPs, while midrange base VRAM from NVIDIA didn't increase until the 660's 2GB (which was basically the same speed as the GTX 570 despite having a much higher shader count, because the shader design completely changed). The 460 is Fermi, while the 560 and 560 Ti are Fermi 2.0, but weirdly the 460 v2 is also Fermi 2.0, though with a narrower memory bus (which didn't seem to matter in practice, and it meant less heat, hence the easier oc'ing). I plan on jamming a 280mm AIO on a 460 v2 sometimes just to see how high it can go for lols.
Perhaps the most interesting Fermi 2.0 SKU is the GTX 580, partly because of its 50% higher ROP count than even the 560 Ti, and the much higher shader/TMU count, but also because of the doubled-VRAM variants which ranged from the blower style EVGA 3GB with a 797MHz core (Palit had a similar model with a 783MHz core) up to the MSI Lightning Extreme 3GB with a default 832MHz core (though it could oc to 950MHz+). Fermi 2.0 was especially good for CUDA and FP64, something NVIDIA utterly crippled with the 600 series. Indeed, for CUDA the GTX 580 beats all the 600s and all the 700s except the 780 Ti and Titan, though not for gaming of course. NVIDIA changed the shader design after Fermi 2.0 to improve power efficiency and other issues, but it meant the newer designs needed 2x to 3x the shader count to reach similar levels of performance.
Steve, I'd be happy to lend you an MSI L.X. GTX 580 3GB model to test out, it would be fascinating to see how it behaves, inparticular where its much larger VRAM gives it an edge even where its base performance may be lacking vs. later models, or slower SKUs like the 560. Let me know if you're interested. I'm in Edinburgh and thus can easily post one down (search for "SGI Ian", you'll find my site and thus my Yahoo email address). I could also send a more typical GTX 580 1.5GB model to compare.

I had this with two 150 watts PSU setup, then I bought a 650watts PSU and then it malfunctioned. Been gaming with it from 2021 till 2023. And wouldn't you know, I have been using it with the heat spreader detached.

Breaking the 1024MB VRAM barrier was quite the feat back in the day. I can't wait to see single 1024GB GPUs. I've already had a taste of this with multi-GPU servers for scientific compute, pooling 2TB VRAM across 32 GPUs, and going back to standard desktops feels sobering.

I had a rig with HD7770 which perform similarly to this. It can only comfortably play AAA game up to 2014, anything newer than that it's a struggle. I tried to play AC Unity and it's too unplayable for me lol. I finished Witcher 3 and GTA 5 though, with below 30fps😬 If i were to play it again, I probably would've chose 720p resolution to get better fps since I don't have big monitor anyway.

Could you try running modern day graphics cards on older games? Lots of games that I really wanted to enjoy as a teen (Skyrim, modded minecraft, etc.) are now enjoyable at super-high framesrates. Can you give us a hint of what experiences exactly can be expected?

dayum I have this card somewhere, didnt think it could still run something (likely gpu would run 5-10fps every game but nvidia being nvidia so vram is limiting factor likely causing many games to refuse to launch). (BTW this card was capping vram already 2012 I got it, as it is budget tier card)

The only uses case for this card. Is if your on a zero or near zero budget AND you allready have or get for free a PC with a PSU that has 2 6pin powercables AND the GTX 560 is free or like max. £/$/€ 5,-. Just untill you can get a better GPU. Otherwise if you can afford a PC with a PSU that has 2 6pin powercables. You can get a better card or use your total budget and system configuration better. Nice video do 👍💯

Can we take a moment to appreciate just how well optimised GTA V is? If you turn V-sync on the stutter will go away BTW. I had a 560ti 448 core for a while and it was a really good card, had some really weird VRAM amount like 1.282gb or something.
