  • After seriously practicing jump rope for a few months now I am really starting to enjoy it. I’m 48 years young and seriously, if I can do it I am sure you can (btw not saying I can do it well).
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“Take advantage of five before five:
your youth before your old age,
    your health before your illness,
    your riches before your poverty,
your free time before your work,
and your life before your death.”
    Source: Shu’ab al-Imān lil-Bayhaqī 10250
Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
Today’s workout inspired by ‪@RushAthleticsTV‬ they have a tremendous channel and the way he breaks down the tutorials is amazing. I also recommend ‪@JumpRopeDudes‬ as they have some tremendous tutorials plus ‪@CoachNateKG‬ but what he teaches is quite advanced and gives you a longer term goal.
Please let me know your comments, this is less instructional and more documentarial as I am looking for tips and pointers from more experienced jump ropers on how I can improve.

Keep at it, is my advice. I have just begun to derive a serious enjoyment from it. As my skills develop I can keep changing it up and making sure the workout stays interesting.

MashaAllah! May Allah SWT preserve you and keep you healthy in mind and body. Ameen.
What an excellent way to keep fit! Fast heart rate is one thing that prevents me from doing cardio, but I know I need to do it. This is a wonderful idea. And the skills you did are impressive, mashaAllah!! I admire your dedication.
I appreciate your authenticity and that you showed and talked about your frustration and that you took a rest. There's a tendency on social media to only post one's successes, and so it can be comforting to hear, "I'm always tripping over the rope!"
Keep up the amazing work! InshaAllah with more time and practice you'll be able to do those skills that you want to be able to do. BarakAllahu feek

I think that maybe many of us parents are worried about the same issue. Companies spend millions if not billions making computer games and social media platforms as addictive as possible and although it might be fine in small doses, it becomes problematic when that’s all they want to do

Is it necessary to criss cross the rope etc? can't it be done like simply and consistently?

Absolutely not necessary. Do it in whatever way you enjoy. For me I find the extra “tricks” make it more interesting and burn more calories

@@irumnageen2443 I will share with you an advice that Shaykh Salem Al-Taweel (حفظه الله )gave to me when on Hajj in 2009 on the day of Arafah. I asked the Shaykh to make du’a for my family to be guided to Islam. He told me “Allah The Most High hears the Du’as of all people and if I make du’a for them I will maybe say ‘please oh Allah guide the parents of this man’ but if YOU supplicate for them you will beg Allah with sincerity and mention their names and it will have much more impact”
My point is, while it is not impermissible to ask others to make du’a for you or others… Allah should always be the first one we ask for help and even if we ask nobody else to supplicate; know that Allah can change the situation of anyone just based on your du’a alone if He wishes.
As in surat al-Faatihah (translation of the meaning) “You ALONE we worship and You ALONE we seek help” (capitals for emphasis)
Also the hadeeth in which it is mentioned that of ALL of the creation came together to harm one of us they could not do so unless Allah willed it and vice versa (it is a very well know narration)
So in conclusion… Know that Allah hears your Du’a. Try to be consistent in asking Him. Make sure that your du’a is made according to the legislated ways and also using the following methods if possible: in Sujud, after athan and before iqaamah, during rain, when travelling, etc.
This is an advice to myself first and then to you and may Allah correct me in that which I falter and forgive me and you for our shortcomings and accept our supplications
