  • A Species Update
    In todays little video we will take a look at some of the spiders that have joined the Beastie Room , all of these new spiders are females and will be future breeding projects, and some will be an exercise in the way we keep them to see if we can see more of them by making them feel more confident and comfortable .

    It is my personal opinion that dogma has no place in science, ESPECIALLY in natural science where you're dealing with intelligent creatures. It seems like each time I watch one of your videos I have that conviction strengthened. You give your residents homes that they're comfortable in and they live their life the way most enjoyable for them personally. Good on them, and you!

    They're pretty and interesting nonetheless and I'm looking to getting my own tarantula in the near future.

    My T.Vagans, Rubes, has done something similar to what your OBT has done with the entrance to the burrow and is currently sat at the top of the entrance. I am currently planning to rehome it but I kinda feel bad for doing so right after it's spent so much time making it's current burrow which takes up half the enclosure which kinda surprised me when I noticed how big it is.

    Hi Dave,
    I love your channel :)
    I wanted to ask about your enclosure for your Chilobrachys: How do you prevent excess moisture/provide enough ventilation in there? (Or am I simply, most likely, not seeing the ventilation?)
    Asking because mine also lives in an aquarium, but after long searching, I have found a cooking utensil... can't think of the name, used for baking and made of metal, this one fits exactly on the aquarium and has a lot of holes in it. After using just a lid it smelled pretty stale and potentially unhealthy in there, which is why I bought the metal sheet. However, her enclosure is bioactive, and yours' doesn't seem to be? Is ventilation not as big of an issue in that case?
    I have another, smaller, currently unoccupied old aquarium where I have little hope finding such a convenient cover, and just being able to use any lid on top/learning how you aerate yours would be so much easier for me xD
    I wish you a very nice day!

    • @daveslittlebeasties
      @daveslittlebeasties  3 года назад +3

      Yes there is no ventilation in this tank only a small gap around the lid? this was only a temporary enclosure as I had nothing else at the time for her as my room was being refurbished, I would not normally use this type of enclosure , short term its fine but not really long term I prefer full open ventilated tops on all my enclosures she has been rehoused into a Komodo with fully ventilated top and bio-active which is much more suitable, 👍

    • @jacobsparry8525
      @jacobsparry8525 3 года назад +1

      @@daveslittlebeasties
      Do they haved fly paper ined where you are? It comes ined strips and you could cut it way thinner and then may be put a piece hanging fromed the roof of the cage. Or put some ined a little card board box with just a hole not big enough for the spider. It is not poisonous, just sticky very and probly if it is high enough the spiders would not bother it but the flies liked the sweet stuff on the sticky layer and once do they check in they do not check out. May be that might helped out?
