This combo with the distortion on the rat dialled back a good bit from what it is here into a British-style high gain amp with the gain rolled well back will get you pure Queens of the Stone Age tone as well.
Well, this combination of pedals isn't meant for playing Polyphia or Dream Theater. It's supposed to sound dark and muddy. Like Sunn O))). Yup, it captures that sound brilliantly. Actually, I think I know what kind of music I'll be recording this weekend with my Acapulco Gold and Mooer Black Secret. Oh, and the secret RAT settings should be "everything on 6." So 6,6,6. Get it. Really, try it.
@@eaglebauer944 the control knobs straight up or half way means the setting is at 5 (maxed out is 10). Just beyond 5, at about "1:00" is 6. Set all the controls on 6. So the controls are at "666" ya know, from "The Omen," "the devil's sign", etc. The setting is pretty much how t SunnO))) would set their RAT pedals.
I ran this same pedal combo for awhile into effects loop of a Randall Diavlo . For me it gave an extremely muddy sound. Note definition was muted. Plugged into front of the amp and it was a disaster. But hey had to give it a try.
Did you try into clean channel?? I’ve ran it through a 30w engl, orange or15 and rocker terror on clean channel and it sounds great! Sometimes a little gain in the or15 but never heaps dirty..
@@chris-tq5ly Into an OR15, gain at noon and a Marshall JMP 100w head. I think these pedals do work better on clean amps. But I love a bit of grit on the amp.
I run it on front of my amp and have had better success running it into an amp in a box style overdrive which I think tames it a bit and attenuates the output. If I run it straight into the amp I get constant feedback. Using a noise gate also helps, and I've even noticed just rolling off the volume from 10 to about 8 makes it more usuable without taking away too much gain. I have a Mesa/Boogie TC-100, but I run it into the clean channel which I have attenuated to 20 watt, I think.

I saw similar comments before, but I'm still not sure what you guys mean by "666", everything at 3 o'clock, or what?

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!!
Fucking love the chug with this heavy fuzz
Should I stick with this combo of the pedals or get the Will It Doom Agatha pedal
The Aghartha is awesome :) get it 🤘

I do struggle getting a good tone out of the Acapulco Gold with a big amp. It is basically a power amp itself so hard to use in my rig.
@@Hellbilly1969 I messed around with that pedal for a couple months and sold it.

bruh
Bruhh O))) 😉
How do you avoid getting all the feedback with both of these pedals on?
Why avoid the feedback?
Maybe playing with headphones? In general, while you are playing there will be no feedback, only when you stop
What's your tuning? Drop C?
Yes 👍
Needs more bass
I mean. Is the Rat really necessary😂
Yes.
To achieve "life pedal" tones? Yep.
is it possible to blow the input of the acapulco if you feed too much stacked signal ?
I have one and couldn't break it when attempting this, came back to tell you
@@SuperDeadRooster ahah thanks, at least me neither
no.
