Great video. Just a quick note on the last point where you have a male thread on the coupling. You can turn the 22mm piece upside down so the coupling screws into the female thread of the 22mm part and this should be able to remove the olive no problem without needing an iron coupler

It's a handy toll. I wish Monument made an adapter for Honeywell & similar valve threads.

Used one of these when fitting a new shower unit only 5mm stub of pipe protruding the olive was totally concealed by the brass fitting nut. The replacement shower came with fancy chrome nuts. Would recommend one of these

Always have used the monument olive remover. Unfortunately I had my 22mm one stolen with my tools👎
Definitely worth having in the tool bag for its versatility.
There's always other tools like 7" small grips that works as well.
Great video another tool to put in my bag😂👌

if the compression fitting has been over tightened, it's a near impossible to use this tool to get it off.because the diameter of the copper has been distorted.

Please advise: when torque is applied to the monument sleeve puller, with the end cap inserted into the open end of the pipe and making contact (bearing against it), is there substantial torque transferred to the pipe itself, potentially disturbing the other end of the pipe, which has a compression ring/nut (near the wall end in my case), from coming loose? I noticed this puller does not have a swivel mechanism to prevent/minimize this. Not sure if applying grease will mitigate this issue though. I could, of course, use a pair of pipe pliers to restrain the pipe, but this is the last resort as I do not want to distort the pipe. Thanks Mark.

Great video. Do you find that you need to cut the pipe down and extend it with a new piece because the olive has damaged the pipe? Is there a workaround if the pipe is damaged like using PTFE tape?

Can you buy a key to fit a lock shield valve instead of using an adjustable I've looked everywhere and can not seem to find one

I haven’t got the brass olive puller type, but when you said you may find it awkward to use a drill to turn it in a tight space, couldn’t you use an angle drill adapter/attachment? Either type, with or without a chuck I have both types of angle drill adapters! Just wondering………

I bought a olive puller . Unbranded but good quality. But did not fit inside 15mm pipe when changing valve.
Found off cut 15mm . It fits in one end, but the other where it's been cut . And the pipe taper's in, IT does not fit.?

I would like to remove a traditional thermostatic shower valve for a bar mixer valve but there is only minimal 15 mm pipe protruding from wall and I need to remove the nut and olive to fit a new wall mount kit to support the new mixer shower. On balance reading the reviews it seems that it will be hit and miss whether or not I will succeed in removing the olive without damaging the protruding pipe. I can afford to take the risk so will purchase another exposed traditional shower mixer. he ho it is what it is......

Not useful with honeywell zone valves.. honeywell port valves nuts are different size although it says 22mm, still not correct thread.

I purchased this after watching this video and others reviewing this tool. I used it on 15mm copper pipe. The copper pipe truncated after tightening the tool using a spanner to remove a stubborn olive. This distorted and flared the end of the pipe which meant I was unable to fit a TRV valve. I had to cut the pipe and add a section which added hours to the job. Not recommend.

These work great if used properly, it won't work if the pipe or olive is damaged or the pipe end is not cut square/straight as it will pull at an angle and the olive will dig in to the pipe. You don't need to use a spanner to tighten just to hold the nut steady you tighten the tool using the handle provided. I only used fingers to tightened the compression nut up.

If you need to cut the crushed pipe part why bother remove the olive

I had the same question. Perhaps it was to show that the tool will remove the olive even if it’s on that tight. Personally, I see that, and I’m reaching for the pipe cutter.

It's unnecessary. There is no need to pull out the olives at all. Just replace the external valve and keep the original olives.

have you looked at " Maun Industries " olive removal tools, 15mm and 22mm, made in England, top quality.
We use to use a junior hacksaw to remove the olives, back in the 70's, a lot of people over tighten the compression fittings, which is not good, and then you would not be able to use the olive puller, but you can use the olive cutter.
if you ovr tighten the compression fitting, it will start to leak.which is counterproductive.
    tightening requirement -
size mm - number of turns after hand tightening - equivalant torque value
    ( NM ) newton-metre

do you remember - " popeye the sailor man" cartoons, he said to Olive his girl friend, "will you hold my Palmolive " and she said " not on your Lifebuoy "
you maybe too young , to remember that Palmolive, and Lifebuoy, were the brand names of hand bar soap many moons ago.
