It's an incredible streak but Fischer's was more impressive. Included in the 20-win streak was 4 straight wins against Petrosian, statistically (I believe) the toughest GM in history to beat. Fischer was on another level in '70-'72. He also spotted the champion a 2-0 lead, then beat him by 4 pts in a 21-game match.

Fischer’s 20 game streak is better by far! He beat 7 top players in the interzonal tournament and then extended his streak well into the candidates! He started the candidates with two 6-0 rounds!
Fischer won 7 straight games to end his interzonal in 1970 before winning 13 straight games with 0 draws, 6-0 vs two and winning the first against a former champion Petrosian in a CANDIDATES tournament. They drew three straight games after losing the second game before winning 4 straight to win the match. But the craziest part of it all is that Fischer played in a rapid tournament before his match with petrosian...and scored 21.5/22...meaning he drew one rapid game and won 21 of them against some top competion. There will never be another run like that ever against grandmasters of any strength.

I think something that is usually overlooked is probabilities of sequences. For example, a coin toss has a 50/50 percent probability that it lands on either side. But the probability that it lands on the same side 3 or 5 or 10 times in a row gets closer to zero on each toss. Fabi's performance in this event is nothing short of phenomenal but Fischer's 20 game streak in my eyes will always be the best streak in chess history unless another world champion gets a bigger streak.

This was an amazing chess and art lesson. Thank you for that incredibly exciting and insightful analysis.
