i've been watching this for few months in order from Season 1. i was too young to watch it when it started at my age 0f 10. Wasn't into girl and boy relationships. I did watch some daytime reruns around 1970 when the show was still on network TV. But I am convinced that Marlo Thomas and Ted Bessel were one of the finest teams on TV and in TV history...They just clicked and made it so damned funny. the script wiring most of the time is Top notch. Supporting players on these shows were also top notch most of the time. This particular episode really made me laugh. great humor, nothing sleazy like today in overdrive.

I think this dress (7:38) is one of the, if not THE, most fabulous dresses Marlo Thomas ever wore in this entire series.

When you get used to your own space, sharing it for long periods of time can seem claustrophobic for both. Also, lots of couples want THEIR apartment, one they got together. To Donald, it will always be "Ann's" apartment

People didn't automatically do that back then. Women's lib didn't really kick in until the late 60's and early 70's. Many were hesitant to adopt new standards.

There's a whole new crop of writers and directors this season. And you can really tell, the show's had a huge tonal shift compared to the prior 4 seasons.

Lew finally doesn't act like an idiot. Why did they waste 4 years + writing scripts with nothing but his irrational, rude, and overbearing behavior? Ridiculous and over the top unnecessary... He actually was allowed to smile in this episode. I am shocked. Ann's outfits are sooo 1970 here lol. This episode has one of the BEST endings for this show "Daddy, when we get married are you going to call me 'Hollinger" too?"

Reva Rose, who played Ann's friend Marcy, also played Lucy, on Broadway, in "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown." Gary Burghoff played Charlie Brown. He would later play Radar O'Reilly on MASH. In both the movie and the t.v. series.

I watched this show growing up and I loved everything about it. I loved Donald and I still want one. I don’t like this last season and I desperately wanted them to get married. I realize Marlo Thomas in real life and producers wanted them to marry. She refused. Now at age 65 watching the shows again, I still love the series. Fun, easy, her clothes, and they were a beautiful couple. Call me old fashioned but I wanted that happy ever after wedding. Because you get married you don’t give up everything you stand for. If you are a strong independent person you still will be. I now think I’ve lost the love for this show. So sad to me.

Avocado green was a very popular decorator colour in the early 1970's, for some reason. My family had an avocado green refrigerator/freezer when I was growing up. Harvest gold was also very popular. It looked more like brown mustard to me. There was also a chocolate brown option. I was not crazy about avocado green either, but our fridge could freeze ice cream and popsicles, which made me really happy. Our original fridge was no longer capable of doing that. I think it was from the 1940's, long before I was born.

Things like how food is eaten should not bother a spouse (or potential spouse). Just accept, though extremely minor, that is one of many things that is different from you. Now, leaving socks on the floor is different. Now that is considered an obstruction, a barrier that either delays or prevents said spouse from continuing onto their goal. Either they have to pick it up, step over it, or acknowledge it at the very least. It all comes down to this. If the course they take is different than the course you take, but the end result is the same (such as an empty plate or which series of streets to go home while driving), then let it go, but if they they do something leads to a different solution, you either need to accept and change your ways or talk to them about changing their ways.
In closing, 90% of quirks you need to let them proceed with, 10% of the time, take it seriously, tell them it is important to you, and ask them to change. It is up to you to decide what 10% of the differences are important.

What is wrong with Ann's apt? The new one isn't that great. Just because they plan to marry doesn't mean the apartment Ann has can't be kept.

Marcy was a friend of Ann's (played by Reba Rose). Her character was just introduced in the fifth season. Perhaps she replaced Ruth Buzzi's (who played Ann's friend Pete) cameos after she landed "Laugh-In".

I always liked this show but thought Ann was a whiney brat sometimes. I hated her voice. Donald was so laid back and easy going, why would she ever have a fight with him? I watched this new. My parents hated it, thinking it was never funny.

Well, Mr. Marie went insane and killed Mrs. Marie. Then he went on to kill everyone else in the town of Brewster so there would be no witnesses. But then there were no more customers, cooks or waiters, so his restaurant went out of business. So after the show went off the air, he moved to Bangkok, got syphilis from a hooker, and died penniless. The end.
