      @@JulianMellor Your approach to a natural grip and swing have eased my mind from all the technical aspects of the game. Simply stated, you’re great at simplifying the swing by focusing on how the body works.

      That great feedback, thank you. The members of ProperGolfing are saying the same type of things which is inspiring me to keep on making things easier and more repeatable.

    Good morning Julian, Sometimes its good to go back to basics and that is what I have done. If there is one benefit I have gained from these recent lessons is the takeaway with a good shoulder turn. For far too long my arms have worked very much independently from the actual rotation of the body. I believed I was making a good shoulder turn but in reality NO. It was in part 3 where I realized that when I thought I had a full swing I had not even turned 45 degrees, yet my arms were raised high and making it feel like a full swing. The result was out to in and disaster. Now so conscious of the turn as you demonstrated and the result is a vast improvement. I think I have been reluctant to make a full turn in case I took my eyes off the ball. It was as though I felt that I had to just keep staring down at the ball. Now its so much easier and comfortable and coordinated. Many thanks for your instruction. Best Regards.

      Just like myself . I play off 13 but have hit a brick wall and can’t improve - I do throw the odd single figure round in , but I also throw in an 18 over too ! Need to go back to basics I feel and these are good videos to remind us :)

    When you say don't keep your head down. Should your head not stay behind the ball till impact ???

    • @JulianMellor
      @JulianMellor  2 года назад +1

      Nope, if you do this you won’t transfer your weight quick enough

    • @NA_Hemi

      You have a beautiful swing. I watch your swing in slow motion and your head moves a hair back on the backswing and on the downswing, it moves back to where it was at address and stays there till well after impact.At impact your head stays behind the ball.

    Hi Julian another great lesson, does the feeling of the lead arm , pull the body as you turn away in the backswing. Or is it the body turn pulling the lead arm . Many thanks Gene.

    From the top of the backswing, are you pulling the club down with your left hand and arm?

    Excellent video Julian!
    The way you setup to the ball is great. Question is how to set up to the ball with proper aim ie where we want the ball to go. Generally, golfers aim the golf club to a spot ahead of the ball and then set up square to the club face. Please teach us how to aim correctly and then set up to the ball. Thank you so much!

    Hello Julian thanks very much for your tuition
    I have a tendency when turning my body to the right to open the clubface what would you suggest to prevent this from happening
    Best wishes Arnie from South Africa

    Julian, does it matter if the back swing is a bit flatter than yours as it doesn’t feel natural to me to have it as high as yours because I am 72 and not very flexible? Thanks.

    • @JulianMellor
      @JulianMellor  2 года назад

      That’s absolutely fine, Robert

  • @Drums-ve8on

    It seems that, unlike a lot of swing instructors, that your shoulder turn only takes place for about 1/2 of the backswing, the rest is the “lifting” of the arms and “cocking” of the wrists. Or am I seeing this incorrectly?

    • @JulianMellor
      @JulianMellor  2 года назад

      I would say that I do have a full hip and shoulder turn with the arms finishing the backswing. I don’t agree with the lifting of the arms as this creates tension. It’s just a natural set that’s all.
