I have looked at hundreds of golf videos to find the elusive secret of a good golf swing and I always come back to your videos and I have to admit that they are the best instruction to learn a simple repeatable swing without manoeuvring the body and hands into all kinds of contortionistic positions to get the same result. Thanks.
Another clear ,easy to follow video . The parts of the golf swing video series are well thought out. I will be saving each section for regular viewing.
I have watched so many videos on how to swing a golf club. After watching your lessons and taking it to the golf course I've never hit the ball so well.
Julian! I'm really enjoying this series of instructions! It's like a "getting back to the basics primer!" Your method of teaching is so simplistic because you've taken all the confusion out of the golf swing! Looking forward to all the rest! Good Job!!!
Never anything wrong with checking the fundamentals,John. I’ve set each section out like this at PG. Pleased that you are getting some value from the videos 😀
Thank you so much! I did a few right today on the range! Looking forwards to the next video! Feels much more body friendly than my old attempts. :) (still a beginner).
Don’t ignore the importance of the first 4 videos as that’s why I’ve released them in order. Once you feel confident with them then move on to the piecing it all together video that will be released tomorrow 👍
My pleasure Mark. I really hope a lot of golfers benefit from this simple series of videos. We both know there is a lot more to playing golf and that’s why I felt it very important to structure training well and that’s why I started Propergolfing.com 👍
Love this series. One has to assume the hands have only enough hold pressure to keep the grip and hence club face steady. This means that the wrists cannot have any tension in order to have the club hinge and unhinged.
Great and it makes sense. One think that I notice is that it’s difficult to think your way though the take back and then cocking the club. Is it advisable to start the turn and have the destination for the club over the right shoulder instead? Saves more thinking. Thanks for replying really appreciate this. PS, my husband is currently switching from left to right hand using your techniques.
Jack Nicklaus once said that a golfer can never release his club to soon. Personally I do not do this with my hands and wrist at the top of my swing as theirs is a reaction to my action of initiating and finishing my down swing with the power and direction of my lead forearm as my body’s uncoils to its finish. You know I had to put my 2 cents in. Ha ha. This 7 part series of yours is Teerific and it’s like checking into a 5 start Hotel with proper service. ⛳️⛳️⛳️⛳️⛳️!
Ideally you’ve released the club head at impact and turned and weight shifted through impact which coordinates the hands, arms and body, I would recommend that your roll your wrists through impact 👍
Thank you for this series. So you do not -for driver- bend the upper body in the set up? Doing as good as I can what you show I tend to come down a bit steep.
Struggling with this but trying. Trouble with the transition from turn to the wrist cock. Right now, drastic pulls from the driver to short irons. Feel like too close to the ball at times.
Once again, great tips. I have tried using my wrists more in the past and I’ve popped up my shots. Any advice for whipping wrists while avoiding popping up?
@@JulianMellor I tried your advice on using wrists while practicing. Worked very well. Now, to make it work on the course. It does create a much more effortless swing.
Thanks for the excellent advice. My wrist use is much better. However, I sometimes hit a terrible shank to the right. About 80% of time, things are going well, 20% I shank. Thoughts?
Watching the tried, tested and true methods that you offer never grow old. These lessons are beneficial to both old and young or anyone struggling to improve their game. It’s been educational and enjoyable to watch Brian Sparks and now you demonstrate the “easiest” swing and “proper” swing for everyone, especially those individuals of my age group. Well done Julian.👍👨🦳🇨🇦
Hi Julian; I'm not a teacher but from the many videos I've seen from too many RUclips teachers & even taking lessons, I feel that grip pressure is one of the most important parts of the swing & the least stressed. Only the proper set-up & grip are ahead of grip pressure. Most people pull the club from the top which immediately causes more pressure rather than allowing it to swing freely with relaxation. The only thing I disagree with is your statement that wrist position doesn't matter much. If my wrist isn't flat at the top, I tend to cup it a bit & causes the ball to go left. Lefthanded golfer, & bowing usually causes a pull. I find that if I keep my thumbnail straight up at hip level & keep it there, my wrist stays flat on the backswing & squares the face at impact. The top of my wrist is facing the target at impact. Would you agree that with the right grip pressure, it will cause the swing to feel a bit out of control until you get used to the difference? Great video by the way, especially for high handicappers. Thanks!
Hi Mike, depending on the way you grip the club you can have a bowed , cupped or straight wrist at the top. What I like is a natural wrist hinge and not a false one. Tension is rarely spoke about with so many coaches and yet it’s so important
At 75 yrs old, I'm not able to make the large tilted backswing that all these pros seem to advocate. I need to make a much more level shoulder turn. Is this large tilting action that is being emphasized as absolute essential for hitting the golf ball solid? This tilting action is killing my lower back and not allowing me to rotate fully in the downswing
Hi Jim, absolutely not, it’s important that you work with your body not against it. What annoys me is so many coaches teach the same methods to all their students and don’t consider another option. Just remember to keep your shoulders relaxed and it should help with your swing.
I’m very new to golfing, I was told the lead band has to be straight the entire time, so is that not true because after the hip height you bend the lead arm a bit still
@@JulianMellor Ah okay! I also saw tiger woods keeps his lead arm straight entire time but I'm assuming I probably shouldn't try to emulate the goat's swing lol. thank you these series was incredibly helpful!!
You are a talented teacher. Cutting through all the B.S. Getting rid of " paralysis by analysis" Enjoying this series very much.
Thank you Bob, hope you are putting them into practice 😀
This is a very important video for the "easiest swing" - Thank you !
I would agree with you 👍
Coach Mellor: Finally someone who just explains step by step how to create a functional golf swing. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind message, hopefully it helps you in the way I help other golfers 👍

But doable when you know how 👍
