    You can't wear any magnetic metals I understand. And you probably have to wear a robe too, I'm going to find out soon my scan is 2/01/24 I have prostate cancer inside the prostate, But they noticed a tiny area in my tailbone about 1/32nd of an inch in size. Too small to biopsy , So they're going to do a bone scan. Wish me luck that there's no cancer in bones. 😒

      I hope your bone scan went well. I just had one today. I have cancer, possible autoimmune and other health issues. They’re trying to get a bigger picture of what is going on, why I have joint and bone pain and to make sure my cancer hasn’t spread to the bones. Wishing you all the best!

    Had this procedure last Friday. Initial injection of the tracer, then left the hospital and came back in 3 hours for the scan itself. Prior to the scan my feet were also taped together so I wouldn't move them.. Initial scan was a couple of minutes, and there was a full body x-ray at the end; overall took perhaps 35 minutes to complete. My urologist recommended this as I have had a TURP prostate procedure some 4 months ago, but my PSA is still considerably elevated, so trying to see if anything is going on in the skeleton. Wonder how many old sports injuries this scan picked up. lol

    I had this done before I got a chance to get a new one who is a little bit more concerned about it criticize it would have a good thing to be a little less expensive than it is not a big deal. It should have a good thing on xray found a fractures in my back and then it would help me to get a new life.

    Should we be concerned about the injection of a radioactive substance into the body?

    • @mattmiller1828
      @mattmiller1828 Год назад +1

      As compared to any other radiology test, no. Yes the thought of being injected with radiation can cause anxiety, but the radiation dose from diagnostic nuclear medicine exams is similar to CT (depending on the area being scanned).

      The amount of radiation is so small and insignificant. No harm can be done 🙂

      4 years worth of natural radiation in minutes.

      I call BS. Hospitals across the nation have protocols for before and after for supplements, fasting and water. Instructions include do not go near babies or toddlers, or anyone pregnant. Including pets. If you are a couple trying to have a baby, wait a few months. That radiation injected into the human body which reaches every organ and every bone in hours, no way is this "harmless". Somebody is lying.

    Under what circumstances would a person need this whole body scan? Bone cancer suspected?

      I panic in an MRI but not a CT machine. This machine looks like 1/2 MRI 1/2 CT?

    Does a Bone Scan always include a Bone Spectrometry?

    Hi. I had a bone scan done and it shows blood pool and flow in both feet; left greater than right; inflammatory process nonspecific. Can you recommend a doctor/specialist for me to see? My rheumatologist is unsure of the next step. Been suffering with bilateral leg weakness due to my feet; also Achilles tendonitis that won’t heal; plantar fac won’t heal and tendons ligaments hurt and constant spasms and tension in lower areas affecting my upper legs from compensating. Thank you!

    If it's a whole body scan don't the arms need to be seen too? Can they be seen wrapped up like that??
