I run a C6 Alyss, Yulan, Saki loadout. Love playing that to bits. Saki's nuclear phansaia (time stop) is addictive and allows you to control any situation by giving you time to react like healing up etc. Never was a fan of Ik, too clunky imo. The answer to your healing problems would be Yulan C3 instead of Ik.
I say in terms of her Matrices, Ice mains have a solid option when it comes to Matrices. I was thinking of getting her from the box and getting her A1 from the shop to play around with on my Main
Between the two Yu Lan would be better. The other ones you mention are more of a support while Yulan is main DPS. In regards to Alyss, she's a good off field DPS but will most likely fall off after the next Frost unit. Saki still provides utility and could be used.

It’s hard to say and I’m assuming your F2P. Saki pairs very well with Icarus but she kind of conflicts with Yulan. She’s still ok but just not optimal. If you’re set on Frost then Yu Lan would probably be your best investment then wait for the next Frost unit. They should synergize well following Hotta’s previous pattern. Her trailer looks awesome btw. So Yu Lan, Saki, Frigg. Tsubasa might be better than Frigg with this team since you want more skill usage. Fiona is a good unit but isn’t a DPS without some investment to A1 and preferably her matricies. If you’re F2P then by the time you get enough pulls for her after Yu Lan the next Altered weapon may be out. Icarus is also a good DPS at A0 but better to wait for the next frost weapon now. Zeke is also good but not Frost.

What is the 3rd weapon depends solely on you. People usually also pick the same element for 3rd weapon as it also benefits from Element Resonance, but if you have Altered weapon (Lin and/or Fiona) you can use them too (Altered element takes after your highest attack stat so it's extremely adaptive) In case of this vid, Saki is Frost weapon with Defense trait, so if you go with Frost team, you will need at least 1 other Frost weapon to trigger Resonance. Do take note of weapon trait (Defense, Attack or Support) to determine your role in coop play; 2 Defense will be Fortitude, or tanker; 2 Attack will be Attack, or DPS; 2 Support will be Benediction, mainly healer; 1 from each of them will be Balance, mainly sub-DPS
It depends on your element. If your frost Saki is probably the best choice. Frigg should be doable now too. If your Volt then Nemesis is good. Be aware that Nem is more of a support character and doesn't benefit newer Volt teams as much.
I think most or at least half standard banner SSR characters are still viable in global nowadays, specially for people that are starting. The only ones I never see people talking about are Samir, Shiro, King, Huma and Cobalt B. People still use Claudia and Tsubasa nowadays as buffers, Ruby is still viable on a full fire team and might be out only when Feise arrives

I was willing to give ToF a try, but the pay to win is beyond, and I refuse to spend a single cent for progression on a game. I play FF14, so the money is not the issue, I will not gamble my money away is that plain and simple, I also don't respect pay to win games because it not about skill but about how much money you are willing to throw away and never see again once the new SSR release. I did want to like ToF, since I did give Genshin Impact a try, but it's no different. In End game one whale character can do better than an entire group that is F2P. That alone is enough for me to pass, I hate playing with people with no skill, much less people that buy skill and then brag about it. Don't think so, the game is free, so try it out and I dare you to try and see how far you can go in end game with a free account. I am sure the whales will be more than happy to do last raid with F2P players. For the Whales I am referring to the last raid where even Whales can't beat, and need every single person to pay... I mean pull their own wait. Oh that's right those are closed to players that do not meet the cut off score, and not to mention Whales in the last raid can't carry. Last raid is always the current hardest raid in the season. Not being negative about the game, but spitting out the truth. As a free to play, you are not going to be doing current end game unless you pay. If you pay, the game is still a sub par MMORPG. They don't focus on story, or new features they make new characters and content for those characters. It's just like wow and mounts, and what they have turned into. Some people love WoW and some don't. Some people will love ToF and if you do, just know, you will need to pay something to fully enjoy the what the game offers. Nothing is Free. My line is I will not pay for progression, with me a sub, or cosmetics to buy, but the game better not be a slot machine that gives you characters or gears. That most be earned via the game, and not given away because of real money.
A lot of games nowadays are P2W or have some aspect of it. If you look at ToF as a MMO you'll be disappointed. It's a standard gacha game that is more on the aggressive side and not very F2P friendly. I only logged in to do daily back in April then about a month ago I stopped completely.
Finally got Saki from the 5$ dollar box and I'm having so much fun playing tank for the 1st time, 100% worth it ⭐

You can replace nemesis for A1 Saki and deal more damage. That was my old comp before fenrir
