Love how you made wheelchair work with remote control. I'm a paraplegic and have an electronic chair which love to operate with remote in order to be able to carry my stuff without any help from anyone. Can you help me with it..?? appreciate your help.
+Nos Dehgan It's relatively easy. You just replace the motor driver/controller with a something like the roboclaw or a roboteq (you just need to match the controller with the motors), and then plug an RC receiver into the input. It's pretty much that simple. I could make another video showing this, but there are a lot of videos on youtube where people have done this. You will lose some safety features however, so beware!
+Robert Cowan (Rowen Hobbies) Hi Robert, thank you so much for your respond. I looked for video showing how it's done but haven't been successful. I'm not anywhere technical smart like you but know enough to do it with some help as far as what type of control board.
+Nos Dehgan If you are non-technical, please do not attempt this then. You will lose safety mechanisms for your chair, and it could run at full power and not respond, which could be very dangerous.
+Robert Cowan (Rowen Hobbies) I have extra older chair which I want to convert it. Have you done it for someone..? anyone ask you to do it for them? it will be tremendous help to me.
yo robert i have watched a lot of your videos and i am looking to make a rc controlled jazzy wheelchair. is there a part two of this. i would rally like to know what radio and wiring you used. come to think of it have not found any good information on making something like this... thanks
Do you mind sharing a bit more information on the RC integration? I believe you mentioned a roboteq 2x20 amp contorller but I couldn't quite make out the other controller you were mentioning
+alexei van Ingen The other one I used was a Roboclaw. The Roboteq is pricey, but the Roboclaw is quite nice for the price. You can get them from Servocity.
I have a snow blower Briggs station 1027 it has driving reverse on it but I can follow it I'll fall down I'm handicapped I use braces to hop around but I have wheelchair motors I was trying to build it a remote control but I landed in the hospital with kidney failure but now I'm trying to get back into it I bought everything I needed can I put those motors on the same body that's on the snow blower
I'm a chair user and I'm trying to speed up my chair that I've built it's pretty radd for what it is. any info would be helpful. there is none on the net.
That is the wrong kind of battery for this application......... Wont get much run time. And you should get a 2x32amp Sabortooth controller. Has 1000000 more features then roboclaw and is cheaper!
hey Robert .could you just tell me how did you connected the wheelchair motors,to the sabertooth. because it comes 4 cables from each motor. do I have to connect one red end one white together. end one black end white together too.I hope you can help me ..thank you
+Brian S There are 4 wires, but two of them are just for the electromagnetic brake. They should be smaller wires. If you check the user manual on the sabertooth, they talk about these wires. You can either remove the brakes, or connect them to the sabertooth.
Hey thanks for answer.so fast. And well I just connected the red end the black cables at the sabertooth but it doesn't move end it's just crank end the sabertooth it's flashing the red LED where it says error. ..
+Brian S have you disabled the electromagnetic brakes? search youtube for wheelchair motor brakes or something like that and see how to take them off. does the motor spin freely? if not, you need to disable the braking mechanism.
+Brian S - I've put this project on hold, I have some other things going on. The electronics section is not terribly easy, there's a lot going on. It turned out to be pretty complicated to interface with the gas engine. I may have more videos coming up, but for right now, this is sitting on the shelf. Sorry!
Robert Cowan Makes sense. I just picked up three chairs and I am trying to figure out what to do with them. I'm looking forward to see how your snow blower turns out!
Robert, you're my hero.
haha, thank you ;-)
Being on the east coast of Canada, I approve this message ;)
Great video you have a great idea there
Wow 👏
that looks awesome keep it up, I'd love to see what you come up with in your next videos, subscribed!
The most human application of technology....maybe ever

I can't find your part 2 video of this, did you ever finish it? It's been 6 years

Alright Robert thank you very much for your help.end keep uploading video .
*Ahem* Kickstarter this immediately please.
haha, but DIY is so much fun ;-) I need to see if it actually works first.
That's true! I love your spirit. Open source is where its at. I'm excited to see more videos.
hey could you please help me to do the same project. how I hove to connect all the cables.

@@RobertCowanDIY Hi, it's been 6 years, have anymore videos on this? Thanks!
Any updates?
Thomas White No :-( The weather got nice so I'm not sure how much I need a snow-blower now. I hope to have it ready by the next time it snows though.

Put grandma in that and take her to Walmart
You're brilliant but not too smart...
