Wow, I never knew about this. Thank you for sharing!
here before it blows up. 25 views
subbed. I'm from Duluth so I might be biased. snowmobiles are my favorite power sport. nothing can even really compare to blowing through the field of fresh powder or cracking it across the lake wide open.
Absolutely
Nice video. POLARIS the only name I've trusted since 1992. Current sleds, a 1980 polaris TX-L " my pride and joy" . And a 2005 polaris 700 xc sp f/o.
The new ones dont last the peimary clutches love to fly off the last 2 years
@drifter5682😂😂😂 ok
Really a great video, I worked at AC 10 years, Polaris 7 and my siblings, at AC, Mom and Dad both worked at AC Service and Warrenty and throwing motors .. I once was told Edgar used to say it was insanity,,, building a machine to go outside in most inhospitable conditions to the middle of nowhere ,,like selling ice to eskimos... but these are wonderful tools.
I read the book about Edgar. Seemed like a great man.
So this is how the snowmobile was born??? How cool and vety interesting ❤
I’m
Going to keep popcorn around and come back here often just to Watch the Doo Nuts freak out.
I didn't think that it was controversial to say that skidoo didn't invent a snowmobile because they just welded skis to a Model T and called it one.
Eliason created the first snowmobile as we know it in 1924, but also Henry ford created a model a snowmobile in 1928.. also mr bombardier made the first mass produced snowmobiles starting in 1954
They came to our town, testing the rxl 650 in the 80s
I think Joseph Armand bombardier is widely credited for the invention of the snowmobile.
I guess in a technical sense, but he invented some goofy looking model t with tracks and skis, but polaris built the modern equivalent to what they look like now

And Canadian taxpayers have been subsidizing it since
@@LoeschDavid-xv6tc Gotta love that socialist government injecting taxpayer money into companies like BRP.
Yes although Eliason never really mass produced snowmobiles or was widely known about, as compared to Polaris or Bombardier. Just had to add that.
So cat was founded by a guy who thought snowmachines were a bad idea, makes sense.
amazing that one guy spearheaded both Polaris and 'Cat. I love the meme that says 'factory recall on all wedge chassis Polaris sleds....it's time their owners got new sleds" -- guilty as charged.
Do you know dave ingeman or his son cody...i grew up with cody. Our dads worked together
Edgar was David Johnson brother in law and left moved to trf and started arctic car Polar inc.David Johnson son Aaron still lives on Edgar homestead
Bombardier invented the modern snowmobile..
JAB invented the big sprocket that make the track spinning , and every other copying.
Polaris didn't either. Bombardier still beat polaris to the game.
Welding skis to a fan powered model t and calling it a snowmobile is not the same.
@@Dayjobinc that was Eliason in 1924. He went on to build purpose built "snow tobbogans" and sold the company in 1939.
1922 15yr old bombardier tested his first "over snow" vehicle. 1931 was Tucker snow cat. '37 bombardier patented his first tracked machine. '50 first canadian designed tracked snow machine. 54 Polaris started work on their first machine, and in 1957 they produced first production machine.
Polaris didn't either...
