"The Guitar Army" of The Outlaws are legendary. I saw them with Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, Elvin Bishop Band... Incredible show... All on stage for the encore.
My brother just saw whoever gets to call themselves "The Outlaws" the other night at Jones Beach on a last minute ticket . When I reminded him that's a far cry from when we saw the band from the 6th row at The Palladium in NYC way back in '78 🙂 all he could say to that was "Good Times" 🙂
Title cut from their third album. Hughie Thomason and Billy Jones were two of the best southern rock guitarists of their day. RIP to both. Hughie's voice is unmistakable. This was also the final album with Henry Paul (Blackhawk). Thanks brother for your reaction to this awesome band.👍😎❤️
Got to see the Outlaws, the Florida Guitar Army, twice in that hotbed of Southern Rock affinity, New Hampshire, and they put on a great show both times. Distinctive Guitar work and Vocals, and a killer attitude made for two memorable evenings. So sad about Hughie Thomason, RIP my man.
Sweet choice. My favorite band. They just have such a unique sound. I've actually played the bass guitar that's used on this song. A friend I use to play music with's dad, Harvey ,played on this album and a few other of their albums. He gave his son the two bass guitars that he was using back then, and although I'm not really a bass player, I got to play them a little bit one night. Pretty cool seeing as how they've always been my favorite band since the 70s. My favorite song from the Hurry Sundown album is "Man of the Hour". But the whole album is excellent.
Those who were in their 20's during the 60's gave us Rock n Roll... those in theri 20's during the 70's gave us Classic Rock... those in their 20's during the 80's gave us a wide variety of rock genres, new wave, punk, heavy metal, Hip-Hop Rap Hair-Glam-Shred..... Those who were in their 20's in the 90's gave us a mess of digitally programed junk with little REAL Music.... those in their 20's after 2,000's most never learned how to play music, they just push buttons and a machine does it for them.... I was there to witness the changes, sure glad they recorded those guys back in the 60's-80's
Great pick! I love this band. If you haven't done "Green Grass And High Tides" yet... do it! It's similar to Skynyrd's "Freebird" but better in my opinion.

RIP Hughie. Thank You.
Definitely my favorite Outlaws tune but their cover of Ghost Riders in the Sky is absolutely worth a listen.
