Another great reaction, Rad. That 80% that don’t subscribe are missing out.
Go-tee-yay, or Gauthier. Won a Grammy in 2013 for the song of the year. He felt wronged by the ex, even though they broke up. He was happy it was over as he said he felt lonely in the relationship, but he wanted to be friends. Now, from her perspective, she felt so happy in the relationship that she could die. She was always feeling like it was all her fault, and she lived on his every word, which made the relationship uneven. Clearly, she felt more in the relationship than he did to the point that she asked her friends to gather her belongings and changed her number after they ended things. She was hurt while he wanted to continue communication. Basically, he was self-centered.
This was definitely one of those inescapable songs from the era. Normally I really dislike the crap they play on repeat on the radio but this one is actually good IMHO.
This song brings Alanis Morrissette's You Oughta Know to mind. Both songs hold a man accountable for damage done ("all the times you screwed me over" (Gotye) and "it's not fair to deny me, of the cross I bear that you gave to me" (Morrissette). Both the men in these songs want to feel free of guilt and judgement, while the woman-done-wrong is to carry all the emotional fall-out alone.
Wow, great comment!
His name is pronouced GOAT-ee-yay. Great reaction, Jarrett!
This is a great song. Another of his I like is Hearts a Mess. Oh, and it’s go-tee-yay. 😀
I love this song! 💕❤️
Great reaction man I didn't even think about that, when you said your analysis of the video at the end I think that is spot on. Been listening to this song lately it's so good
You got it Rad - he was stuck and she's moving on. And the art is about him being stuck in those patterns of behaviour
Gotye's song was so popular that all of the radio stations kept playing it to the point where he eventually became tired of his own music
Couldn't agree more.Great reactions .Great guy .
This is a great song
Love this song🙂
Gotye's song was so popular that it was played all the time that he became frustrated with his own music
He is stuck. Brilliant, never heard that one
Yes you've heard this song. It's not that long ago it was all over the radio.
Please react to " Heart's a mess"! It's one of my fave songs from him and I think is even better than this song! All of his Music videos are artisitic in some way shape or form so it could be cool to react to more!
Pronounced Goat-Tea-A.
This is essentially a breakup song
I was that girl cutting the guy out of my life. He has it wrong. You cut out someone that means TOO MUCH to you and you lack the ability to deal with the emotions that you feel seeing them again. And getting back together would be really bad for you. Not everyone has the same level of maturity to deal with interactions. Your interpretation is excellent
This song is about a breakup
Maybe he felt lonely in her company cuz she tapped out!!!
How can a cute boy like you only have a handful of views? Maybe wear something more exciting (if your girlfriend allows it of course)... But keep your vids comin cuty
Gotye was more or less a one-hit wonder
Maybe in the USA but he was very popular here in Australia (where he’s from) for many years before this came out. He has many hits but far more important he has lots of great music. Check out Hearts a Mess - a ‘hit’ well before this one
Try at least 10 hit wonder! Not in the USA, but then again most of the best music isn't from the USA.
It was such a huge hit tho😭
This song was so popular that the radio stations kept playing it to the point in which Gotye became tired of his own music
😭
