Video is over a year old but I wanted to add my 2 cents. It hurt to watch holes drilled into the aluminum floor. IMO, the holes were absolutely not necessary. Pour before you lay the aluminum down. As for me, I’m using EVA foam in my floor instead of sheet foam or pour foam. EVA is quieter than sheet foam and as close to waterproof as you can get. Lastly, the bow drain installed in the video will eventually plug up. Even using pour foam it wasn’t necessary to block the built in drain channels. You could have laid a 1/4” sheet of foam over the channels before pouring.
Thank you Ryan,I’m definitely going do the same on my floor,it will definitely help with keeping the floor more stable from the beaten flying across the pond with a 20 hrs on a 1436,I ordered EVERYTHING on the TBN Amazon web site 👊👍
Nice work. Between your video and the other videos on pour foam I have seen... I am 100% sold on sticking with sheet foam for the rest of my life LoL. That looked like a pain in the butt. Your a better man than me. Keep up the good work dude.
Poured foam will definitely help with the structure of the floor. If i may put my 2 cents in. I would have left the sheet off and poured every other section and then taken and long blade and cut it down level and then gone back and done the others. Cant wait to see how it all turns out.
Even with the one drain pipe I'd be worried about water getting stuck up in the bow. I'm currently trying to decide between pour foam and keeping my purple sheeting.
Question, why did you take out the pink cut out sheets? I'm about to put my old bass boat back together. The back 2 side were poured with foam and sheets were placed under the floor originally. I was going to repour the sides, cover the water chanels with thin sheets of aluminum in each section and then use the pink foam. When I stripped this boat down there was trash, leaves, dirt , you name it in each chanel and the old foam was water logged where the water wasn't able to drain properly to the back bilge and drain hole because the chanels were foamed over or dammed up with crud.
I took it out because I wanted a more solid floor. I felt like there would still be play between the foam and the aluminum. I like the pink foam, ill be reusing as much of it as possible in other areas
its not, you are 100% correct. I probably should have done my subfloor a completely different way, which I did in my latest project. Updated video is there
Would you suggest placing thin sheet of metal in between each frame before the pour to keep the built in drains? I’m in this process now and contemplating metal then pour and 1/2 inch ply for subfloor. Thoughts?
In this build I used .063, in my newest I used .090 with better results. I have a video coming soon on it. The entire subfloor build went much better than in this video. Video should be up soon!
Do you think in the long run the aluminum floor will be better than resin coated wood. I’ve been looking at .063 sheets and you aren’t kidding it’s expensive and I have a 1436. I can image what you paid for yours.
We easily cut 60 4x8 sheets of .063 aluminum at the laser shop where I work. People on the area will buy sheets every now and then. I'd bet we sell it way cheaper than most places considering the volume. Call around to laser shops and ask them how much they cut (do they stock it) and will they sell you a couple sheets for your boat. Also look up the big metal suppliers in your area. Forget mcmaster carr. Waaaaay overpriced!
I'm not sure if that boat is MASSIVE or its just that wide angle on the s20! Looking good man! Boat going through the tunnel at the end looks familiar, don't know where I've seen it before...
Why pull out that good closed cell foam? It wasn't deteriorated and wasn't absorbing water. It allowed water to run in the channels to the transom for draining.
My thought exactly, you lost the built in drains doing it that way. I'm struggling with this decision on my floor now. On the other hand you can't deal the sheets when they are cut and they get water logged as well over time.
my boat need that as soon is possible, this is my next project. You explaining very good. Thank you so much for doing that!
Check out my newer video on the subfloor, it's much better. I made some mistakes on this particular build and the subfloor
@@fireantfishing Thank you. I am already see that. I am steel watching your videos now. Try to get much experience before start my project:)
@@fireantfishing did you use 0.063 alum for subfloor?
Hi.. thanks..very helpfull video..
Very good I'm in the process of rebuilding my boat
Glad to hear Bill!
Dollar Tree has larger cheap containers with measurements on the side that could help you out with mixing the different liquids in large quantities.
Was the 1 gallon kit enough to somthey entire floor?
Do you need drain hole on the aluminum floor? If not how much does the water pool up.

Your right, it wasn’t smart. I don’t do it this way anymore or add pour foam to a hull like this
All this is very helpful 🙂. Getting ready to start working with it on my boat.... my wife says I'm still not gonna catch more fish 😒..

🤣🤣🤣 it wasnt bad. Just nerve-racking haha. Best believe pink foam is going in as well

I thought about that. I just felt like it wouldn't make the floor as solid
Nice video. It’s all in the prep work. And you better better results with bigger pours. Good thing is clean up of the excess is a breeze.
Ahh ok that makes sense. I was probably a little over cautious to not over pour.
Even with the one drain pipe I'd be worried about water getting stuck up in the bow. I'm currently trying to decide between pour foam and keeping my purple sheeting.
Purple foam sheets if you have a flat bottom or mod v
Thank you! I have a mod v so sounds like I'm keeping the sheets.

I'm doing something similar but I was told the foam is not supposed to touch the water

Excellent video. Thank you. Where did you get the aluminum? Good luck.
metal superstore at least for the sheeting. if you dont have one close, check out tbnation.net
Where did you buy the aluminum sheet from? I can not find it anywhere. Please help !!!
Look up metal suppliers in your local area. You can buy 1 sheet of whatever.
What’s up! What thickness of aluminum sheet did you use?

What type of carpet are you going to use the second time around? Ho,me Depot indoor outdoor or a marine specific option?
I'm going to use some type of sea deck. I havent decided specifically which one or a color, but as of right now thats the plan
@@fireantfishing That camo decking Nate has on the boats on his Facebook page are really nice.
I'm so glad we have the same boat lol. I'm the guy that messaged you on IG.
Whats up!! Haha pretty cool man

Yeah it will be better long-term
If the wood fails at any point down the line you are screwed because it's buried under the build...you will never have that worry with aluminum.

Pour before you put the floor in.
I would lean the boat to one side a little get more coverage.
Did the scraper get eaten by the pour foam? LOL that's tough!

What percentage of the boat needs to be filled w pour foam to prevent it from sinking?
Most expensive tiny boat ever? 🤣👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 awesome idea with the pour foam
🤦♂️ it might be

@@fireantfishing Is that foam compressive underfoot? Is it resilient to traffic?
what a shit show 🤦♂
