Wow... what a flashback. I grew up in Abilene and spent many a weekend at both the park and the lake in the late 1950's and early 60's. Yep, I'm now an old geezer. I remember going to the lake as a kid with my younger brother and my parents and catching bucket loads of crappie and bass. We would spend the day under a shade tree on the banks of the lake and just fish with a cane pole, a red and white float and a hook with a minnow attached. The park was wonderful then and looks just as great now. The pool was always cold on a hot summer day. Thanks for the great video.
I stumbled upon the channel and video I needed. Wow what an amazing place. I will have to check them out if they are open in the winter months! So beautiful, reminds me of RGV/south texas area, just an amazing looking place. thank you for the history and glad both sides of the CCC men were able to build something amazing together
Aww, I’m glad y’all made it to ASP and enjoyed it so much! I commented on your Colorado City SP video that you should come here and you told me that you already had it on your calendar. (I think it was that video). I live 45 minutes from this park, it’s amazing and you did an awesome job with this video. In my opinion Fall is the absolute best time to visit, the trees change color and you feel like you’re in New England instead of West Texas. I discovered your channel not long ago and I’m really looking forward to going back and watching all your previous videos, you do an outstanding job of showcasing our wonderful state parks. Thank you so much and safe travels!
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel! I enjoyed my visit to Abilene state park and would consider it to be in my top 5 list of Texas State Parks to visit. It is definitely a hidden gem!
Wow Chris! I have to admit I've never given much thought to Abilene SP but now I'm definitely going to get there at some point. What a CCC powerhouse. Great video brother. I'm working on mine now. It's quite the challenge but as usual I tend to make things a little more complicated than they really should be. 😁😁. Take it easy, brother. I'll be in Whitney SP in February.
Thanks Corey!! Abilene is a hidden gem everyone needs to put on their bucket list. I can’t wait to check out your first video when it comes out! Ya’ll will absolutely love lake Whitney state park! E-mail me when it gets closer and we will grab a campsite and meet up.
Thank you for your concern. I took a break for a bit to spend time with family. We do have new video out tonight! Thank you for your support and for watching the videos!! I appreciate you!👍😎
BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE. The chiggers will devour you. Ask me how I know. I stayed in site E057 last July in order to go scuba diving at one of the Atlas Missile Silos. Very nice park. I video taped the dung beetles working their magic after my dogs. Very cool. The park attendants told me to leave it. With all that being said it's a nice park.
Thanks for letting us know! We would have never guessed that the chiggers were so bad there. It’s kind of like the time when we went to sea rim state park and it was full of mosquitos!! Thank you so much for the heads up!!

Thank you for making this great video! We’re going to this park this weekend and we’ll see if the lake water level is higher
