  • Sweet documentary about the Glastonbury Festival in 1992. It was broadcast in 1992 in four parts, sadly I failed to record the first. Anyway, here is 75% of the broadcast.
I am especially fond of this film, as it is the only Glastonbury Festival that I attended. The weather was magnificent - around 86 degrees - and even tho the toilets were full of something resembling walnut whip, a good time was had by all!

That week in 1992 is Still one of the best weeks of my life and i m 50 now! Got to jam with Dave Swarbrick and was hiked over the fence by neighbouring farmer Mr Vickers. Went alone with no tent , had no drama and met lovely people. My purchase piece of canvas from the army store was a sad looking affair between 2 sticks but did the job and my best investment was a potty! And now i run my own boutique festival in Oz and many other events. No better inspiration. Thanks for sharing!

The fields around Worthy Farm in Somerset, would kindle a warm glow in the heart of Donald Trump. An eight-mile long, 20-foot high fence runs round the farm and the 12 neighbouring properties, encasing Britain's biggest music festival - Glastonbury, of course.
The festival might even be more secure than Mr Trump's planned border wall between the US and Mexico.
There are in fact two fences. A slightly shorter one sits in the shadow of the large barrier with enough room between them to drive an emergency vehicl

It also put the whole future of the Festival in doubt, as Mendip District Council would not grant a licence if these problems weren't resolved. Fact.

@@SixStringSteve Couldn't agree more. It was just another nail in the coffin for the peoples Britain. So many people nowadays say, "Oh look, the tories vow to cut homelessness in half, we must be equal". Yet they fail to see the simple fact that it's ALL OPTICS. Like in the video, they are baring a select group of people from entering the site, even whilst the crowd cheers for them to be let in. Then suddenly they're offering diesel and recovery trucks. That's not their goodwill. That's just them saying "Look, we are trying to cooperate", when the only reason its there is so the travellers had no reason to stay, in the eyes of the media.
The battle, other than being a slaughter, and a one-sided fight for those involved. But the media still managed to spin it at the time, as a way to say, "Look, we had a battle with these people. They just disturb the peace". After all, why was it only broadcast once at the time. Because they were covering the truth in a web of lies.
That's all politics is today, an illusion. Just a rich elite vs another rich elite. No matter the side. They may say, "Oh look labour keeps on almost winning. We can beat the tories!". But in reality, it's just another side of the same coin. We don't want, a different side. We don't want the "Left vs Right" illusion of competition. It's all just a monopoly for the rich, disguised as a choice. We want a society not ruled by hatred, not based on labelling our fellow man as the "enemy". We want a society in which we can all move forward, where we can share the common enemy of evil and corruption. But whilst those in power share this influence. That is impossible.
It's not about the death toll in numbers, it's about the death toll of human goodness.

The travellers had been going to Glastonbury for years before all this nonsense, Eavis welcomed the travellers for their ideas of a more creative festival, then turned his back on them and turned them away. Eavis now turned Glastonbury festival into this nostalgia commercialisation bandwagon pop festival, all that had been creative as now turned weaker and now lost it's vibes of what Glastonbury festival was once all about. I have not got never ever intention of ever returning again, i have had the best of Glastonbury festival that can never return back ever again to its former glory⚑🅰

I was there in 92 and witnessed the Dark Side of the travellers. A bunch of them pinched a load of beer from a guy who'd set up a stall selling it. He didn't stand a chance. Also an individual spent an entire evening terrorising a group of young guys who just wanted to chill around a fire and sing Beatles songs. He kept insisting that one of them fight him. I'm sorry but there's little doubt these people were from the travelling community. I've met some dear sweet gentle souls on the road, in Epping Forest where they camped in 91 picking shrooms and Portobello road, so I know they're not all bad. How is it possible they would be? But sadly, lawlessness gives shitty people opportunities to express themselves in all the wrong ways. I do believe Glasto 92 was the last decent one, I'm so glad I was there.

maybe you should learn the heritage of the festivals before passing such a comment. Travellers built Glasto' without them there would never be a festival where as Beautiful days was built to show that there was a life away from modern society and to give people that experience and chance for an original festival feel, it's not a place where travellers come to retreat, so yeah I guess they would be pissed, it's like comparing water and Iron really !

I'm pretty sure it was in '99 that the Manc and Liverpudian hoodies took control of the old routes in (the culvert, the trees, and the gap made in the fence by a traveller's lorry), and started charging people to get in. That was also when the scallies started robbing lots of folks. I saw it happen with my own eyes: a dude was tripping his balls off and some black guys approached him and started patting him down, looking for stuff to take. I think all that made them spend the million on the fence. It was getting wild/unsafe.

I love how everyone will tar all travellers with the same brush, as someone who was brought up with these type of travellers I remember the bullying as a child. It is because of the narrow minds of people that they will judge before they actually get to know these people. The groups that I lived with would tidy up there rubbish before they left any site. There may have been quite a bit of drinking at times, but they would have worked the tides. I have and will always class these as my family!
