Next time I'm in the market I'll be sure to give it a listen. Thanks!

How do you deal with electrical noise from your transmitter? Wouldn’t it interfere with other equipment? Also I would assume the step up converter has some form of harmonics/coil whine... how do you keep this stuff out of the transmission?

Actually I have no incidental noise. The transmitter itself and its audio feed and antenna lines are shielded, thus protecting the signal from any transformer magnetic fields. That same shielding also makes the antenna (in the attic) only serious exit point for the transmitter's signal. Additionally, I know high power AM signals cause problems in neighborhoods where the transmission towers are, but that's AM, way down the RF spectrum, and also, I believe, when those AM signals are like 50,000 watts, not my measly 30. At least that's how I understand it.

I could be wrong, but I believe the 'echo / residual sound' you described from the noise gate on the mic preamps could actually be attributed to room acoustics.
Have you tried applying any acoustic treatment in the studio?

    • @humbertowrigolini578

The studio is already surprisingly (and accidentally) sonically neutral, but looking specifically at more acoustic treatments is worth a try.

Have you looked at what it would take to be licensed? Would think I’d be less afraid of the FCC and a lot more afraid of the music labels

I'd have to go LPFM where I am and I just don't want to go through the paperwork and huge waiting period. Maybe some day when I have more time.

@@humbertowrigolini578 are you selling air time? probably not, you're basically giving the labels and their artists free promotion, just keep doing what you're doing

@@futureshock7425 you're right, I'm not selling time. In reality, I also don't have much time to play in the studio lately, so no big loss.

why do you need so many racks for one mic though? i have a chance to pick up the 286s and the 528e both for 160...but i cant see why i would need to use both

Yea, this set up is a little much. There are 4 mics and 6 processors. The Behringer is just there taking up space - nothing connected to it - more like storage. The Presonus is in series with the Symetrix 421 because the Presonus does not have a downward expander/gate and the 421 does. And this set up did not last for long. Later on I set it up with one processor per mic, keeping the ART, two 528s and the 286.

@@humbertowrigolini578 thanks. i just got the 528 and 286. gonna test them now ....hopefully it was worth the 160. currently i just run right into an apollo so this should help
