- Money can't buy happiness, but Gravity Payments CEO Dan Price doesn't believe in that philosophy. The boss announced a big raise for many of his employees and took a big pay cut. Anthony Mason reports.
6 years later... people in his company are MORE productive and happy.
It's been years and all the people who wanted him to fail have seen him succeed. The reason? Now, in order for Gravity Payments to go down, it's not only Dan Price who must fail. All its workers have to fail, and I bet my right hand those workers break their butts trying to make Gravity survive and thrive.
Coming back to this comment in 2021. You are absolutely correct. In a recent interview of the employees, they were willing to take a cut to their paycheck for the company to keep operating during the pandemic.
@@redhwanariffkhairulannuar1498 and they got paid back for it after the entire company bounced back.
@@sebastiangomez8463 yup. Amazing what could happen when everyone looks out for each other.
Ohh man. This comment aged like wine.. truly amazing
This got 30,000 views in six years.... This is horrible. This company should be a model for all companies. I wish I could use this company for their services because I would use them just because the CEO has a heart for his workers.
If only life was that simple. Most important thing is business is product demand. If he’s paying everyone 70k, then he must be able to charge a higher price and get significant volume of sales because his product/services must be in high demand.
Corporations wanted him to fail. The news outlets lambasted him, called him impractical. But him prevailing to this day, makes the point he wanted to make 6 years ago.
Very rare to find someone who cares more about happiness rather than money. Thank you Dan Price. Wish I had this opportunity. Happiness is better and healthier and people do well because of a supportive upper management team. That is what every job needs. Makes team works gain more confidence. Congratulations to Gravity Payment employees.
$1million to $70k
Is this guy Jesus Christ? Looks like him.
More like Karl Marx. And I mean that as a compliment
Jesus didn’t own ownership of a company and he get dividend distribution, 10 times more to make up for his low salary in the future.
It's 6 years later and a covic pandemic and this CEO is what all CEO need to be like.. yes he could be making more and employees less but he has shown it works and we all can do well
why don't we know more about this guy, what a class act
Big corporations who pay minimum wage says it won’t work it will make us less profitable. What there not saying, our profits will go from 10 billion a year down to 8 billion a year. A person can’t survive with 2 billion less a year. Oh I feel for them.
He should win a Nobel Peace Prize. Showing how it should be done to create a great country 🤗
Even if you took every single penny the Waltons take home from Walmart, it would only be enough to give every employee a 3 dollar an hour raise. This may work for highly profitable small companies, but it doesn't scale.
The myth of a no cooperation economy is ending.
Its a small company only has about 100 employees
@@yoyu2567 It scales. Amazon has a ton of employees but Bezos has a net worth of nearly 200 billion yet the employees are paid like crap.
@@rift9106 aren't they paid double of minimum wage at the lowest
@@yoyu2567 I don’t believe so. They’re paid about 28K annually which is very low.
lesson to be learned..maybe the owner class/ceos do not need as much as they have/we are taught they should have
This man is a role model
Yet billion dollar company’s won’t allow their workers $.50 cent raise. That’s very sad I understand if that’s way above average in some cities but in some expensive cities they need it most.
This is awesome people wants to work for him! So now it's about having awesome people on board to help build and maintain his company. I like him.
You spend more time with them than your family
Also being generous and sincere is the solution to everything in life
..on the extreme side
Outstanding! We need more CEOs like him.
CEO’s don’t care about their employes. This guy does. Only positive things can be said about him
American hero
#EMOTIONAL #WELLBEING #RISES!! GOOD JOB KID!
I am very proud of you.I know you are much smarter than some other business people. To bad I am retired. lol Your business will most likely quadruple. You are a light in a very dark world. Generosity goes far.
Other firms won't do it because they are cheap!!! If a firm has many employees give them a nice holiday bonus as my boss would do.
Social responsibility and more. This young man gets it. If the big corporations are not able to do the same in the short term, Dan's move might just inspire the big corporations to figure out their own solutions. I like Dan's solution and it WILL pay off in the long term, possibly even the short term. Publicity has huge benefit!! Just saying..........
This is such a wonderful gift that you gave to your employees. I congratulate you for what an unselfish gesture made. When your employees took a pay cut to help your company stay in business, that was a true gesture of how grateful they are to you.
It's very heartwarming knowing there are people in our world. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Result of this was clearly seen 6 years later. recently telecasted. wow. great.
People dont realise that this is a small company with only 100 employees
What a great guy! This is the future of America.
Good marketing :))
And he hasn't gotten a haircut since lol
doing the right thing
Lol: I just realized this video is like 4 years old.
Paul Page And he is still around and he just opened another business in Idaho this year. He is killing it!
And look at him now :)
Did hell freeze over?
WOW I should not be amazed that someone would pull the McDonald's employee thing sad just sad....The USA can't give our vets a good job,a place to live most McDonald's employees are intelligent!! My 1st job was at Burger King and I became a NYC Paramedic who worked 9/11 WTC I was running into the madness while corporate America was running out!!
He's one guy with one little local company, like the analyst said, this will not be a trend or the norm for multinational companies, its cute but people out here still struggling to make ends meet.
This is what capitalism actually is supposed to look like when it isn't interrupted by greed.
We're in 2024 and the company will atill continue to shoooot! He's a W
Wow ! Very kind wow!
One of the true leader of the world has arrive, nothing but love and respect for you my brother.
If only my pay double.
Imagine seeing a pay packet of $6000 a month. Damn 🤣
I think employers are missing the point if you are a crap employer that is the reason why you can't find employees you don't even have an employee that wants to come back
really 45000 after tax's not counting gas food and property tax
Which is much better than 30 k after taxes which or 20k.
Dan the man!
OK ... this has been up for six years. What's the story about Gravity?
There's a recent update to this story. His company is still doing well and has weathered through the pandemic.
They have more employees now and a bunch of them have babies, they pooled and bought the CEO a Tesla, and his hair is about waist length now lol
@@BRUtahn and now he’s a convicted rapist.
Lol like they said, if you want that to be the solution, you're going to lose money, and if everyone does this, economy goes down, inflation goes up, blah blah blah. It works when one person does it like this.
They need to adjust the labor law, do something about health care and education prices. Which is nearly impossible to do in the US. Good for him though
My nigga
Great way to raise your stocks in the market.............soon
While covid happened people went out and found better jobs they went to school or just decided to not go back to that terrible job that's what happened that's good..
Go UBI !!!!
Well, this aged like milk, TAKE THAT CAPITALISTS 😂😂😂😂
The company is actually doing very well. If you read the latest report that is. The employees were able to buy homes and even have children. I would say that is a win for everyone.
@@nikrose5229 i know right, and some bosses with high pay salary think that the company is gonna fail
@@unknown81000 he was convicted of sexual assault.
Dan Price Yolo

Yeah let’s give someone with only a high school diploma or a community college degree a high salary not based on merit. Great idea. What about the Stanford graduate who is actually smart and capable who doesn’t work here? You get paid based on merit not handouts. Plus if a company is not profitable they can’t hire more people. Layoffs coming
Wow...
You mean to tell me that you are worth 100 billion dollars and can't give 1 billion to raise workers salaries from $17 to $25?? 🤔.... #horrible
this aged like milk
why do you weirdos get so angry about oddly specific hypothetical situations? the company is thriving now btw
socialist america
Interesting how that man, surprisingly, resembles Jesus... GOD BLESS HIM!!
Go Trump ... economy is booming ...!!!
You realize this is from 2015 before Trump was President right?
Biden is President now!!!!!
