I went in for a guitar tone and I ended up not having to purchase Parallax X anymore, lol. Someone uploaded their B7k capture and with the NAM "Dorkglass" stock IRs I got the best distorted bass sound ever. So happy!
Awesome! You are a great source of info! The struggle is real finding great tone for me. I am a disabled vet on a tight budget and I want to ROCK HARD...like STEEL!
The thing I LIKE about NAM is the fact that I don't know where the knobs were set on the amp, or pedal or what the persons setup was who captured it. it's super easy to pull up a sound and see if it sounds good, then I'm set
Perfect for a demo. Love your work bro. If I was rich I’d buy you an amp, a 57, and a lewitt. I’d even through in a behringer 12 channel mixer and some moving blankets or a treated room, Mr never owned an amp. ❤
You’ll need ALOT more than just those things 😂 I can get just as good as tones either way some of these plugins than with my tube amps, cabs, mics, or using my load box and good IRs. It all comes down to the mixing and mastering or the song is what makes or breaks it. The mixing plugins like EQs, MB, limiters, compressors, tape machine, etc is what really defines your tone in the end. The biggest thing is the IR/speakers/mics which is about 75% of your tone. I can go on and on but u can get some amazing results with free and cheap plugins to make a demo/song as long as u know what to do with it all
Bro brought the goodies again! Amazing video man, I’ll check the captures from the community, I’m sure there are cool stuff there! Checked NAM but never experimented on it, so it’s a good reminder as it’s a good introduction 🫶🤞
Cool video. Thanks! This plugin is very cool but I prefer the Tonocracy Plugin for the NAM profiles. It's gives that easy to understand visual signal chain.
NAM VIDEO WOOOOOO i just tried a dual rectifier capture since neuraldsp didnt have a plugin with it and hooly shit both NAM and the captures you can get for it are reaaally good
Gojira is an amazing plugin. If you end up wanting a pristine heavy metal tone, it’s absolutely worth it. From cleans to brutal tones, it does it all. I use it over the Nolly almost every single time. Maybe something to save for? But, it’s worth it.
LOVING THIS!!! It's a little CPU-heavy, but WOW, definitely the best free amp sim that I've tried! The Bugera 6262 SLAPS, really glad to have that in my library!
Is there any chance that you can make a video and teach us how to tweak a good guitar tone? I'm a beginner and it seems super difficult to use a compressor and adjust the EQ the way it needs to be
- For high gain rhythm guitars you don't really need to use a compressor. - to get a good tone : 1) dial the gain of your amp to taste, leave the rest at default (often noon for tonestack EQ) 2) adjust the cab/speaker/mic to make it sound as good as possible 3) adjust the amp tonestack and poweramp (resonance, presence...) settings if needed 4) check your tone in a mix context and adjust 1/2/3 if needed
I know it’s unrelated to the video specifically, but in the past you mentioned using a .070 as your low string on this specific guitar. Did you have to have the nut filed?
Thx for the vid and the awesome sound! I love it! Does anyone know, how to get the sound to OBS studio? I am using a focusrite scarlett 2i2 4th gen. Get only the clean sound into OBS...
Crazy that I've not heard of this! Is it all free? Like, all of it?? I've been using Nolly for a long time, and now they've given it the "X" treatment, along with McRocklins polychrome DSP (which is killer, imho), and they more than do the job for me. But wow, this sounds great! 🔥 Free??
I like this and use it. But I find myself tinkering with it and trying to dial it in , more than recording with it. It's iike an endless rabbit hole plug-in.
I used to always say tone is in the hands which is true but tbh I really feel that tone is in the arrangement of the song; if the song is trash then it doesn’t matter how good or bad the tone is. I remember recording my bands first full length with GarageBand amps through a 1/4 inch to 3.5 mm adapter and it sounded awesome because the songs were good
too bad it is massive cpu hog in cubase. The regular NAM loader works better for me. Hopefully they can fix it, but I am not complaining since it's free.
Hi! Steve here. I made Neural Amp Modeler, the tech behind this plug-in. I open-sourced NAM in 2019 as a for-fun hobby project. Open-sourcing it allows people to do whatever they want with it, like creating this plugin, making websites to share models, making pedals that support playing the models...just really cool stuff 😀
you have this wonderful tool called the internet where you can search for stuff. Maybe you could use that instead of demanding it from someone who already broke everything down?
Thanks for the great videos I just got a quad cortex looking to learn how to further use it and download tones pre sets and captures I followed you on quad cloud interested in the tones you have on there. How do I use plug in on the quad?
I haven’t bought an amp sim plugin since getting the QC. So far only the Plini & Gojira plugins are available on the QC. If you own licenses for them, you simply log into your Neural DSP account on the QC and you can access any device from them under the "plugins" folder.

As to the "uncertainty" of the captures:
Does it matter?
If it sounds bad, you won't use it, no matter the signal chain, capture set-up, etc.
NAM is amazing. Obviously, like any profiler, you need good captures to get the most out of it. But yes, NAM is phenomenal tech.
Sounds great! Love watching your videos and learning about plugins I haven't heard of yet. Definitely can appreciate the free plugins as well😂
Thanks for watching dude, hope you enjoy it!
@@KeyanHoushmandLive Absolutely!✌
Dude, I genuinely dig every video you make. I use so much of your advice and it seriously helps. Thanks
I had minimal tweaking to do in this and got even better tones than my mix wave and neural plugins, insane that this is FREE

I agree, a really good bass + drums + whatever arrangement in the right context of a song can really make or break any "guitar tone".
