you should always start with painting the whole thing green, then put on the camo colors
It's a humvee. It will get beat up anyway. May as well do it the easy way.

also highly recomended that you sandblast/media blast the headlight covers that hold the headlight to the bucket, they rust very easily and will drip rust in about 2-3 months if you wash it

Germany everything would be painted first in olive green, then comes the camouflage pattern !!!! and not the other way around

The way you're painting, you'd be better off with rattle cans. I did mine with rustolium camo rattle cans(all 4 colors) and gave it a 3D camo paint job. I didn't even sand it. Just degreased and pressure washed it. The CARC really sucks the paint in and holds strong. It's been three years since I did the paint and have had no peeling at all. Plus the 3D camo really stands out when sitting next to other m998's.
The driver side, hood and tailgate looks great! You could have used more time on matching the passenger side pattern. New paint made it really pop.
Thanks! & yeah I will be doing it differently next time. It wasn't bad for my first real camo job though. Next time I will paint the whole truck green as the base color and then the black and brown.
I really like the detail work you put into these hmmwvs. I served in the Army. And went to Afghanistan. Looking forward to auto body school so I can buy and build one of my own.
When I painted mine I used primer first. Like yours, I had fiberglass hood repair and some exposed aluminum after the prep. The paint topcoat probably won’t stick well to exposed metal. Also I did a green coat first and then did the brown and black over the green base coat. I took a tour of the AM gen factory and they used a “proprietary method” to anneal the paint to the aluminum body because it’s difficult to get paint to stick to aluminum.
Always use gloves and resistor mask when reducing the paint with xylene, it can cause liver cancer.

dude that Humvee is badass. i have a question, what brand name paint did you use for the green paint ?? i am restoring 1985 chevy k5 blazer m1008 truck that was used in military im trying to find correct military green.

Shhhh. Be quiet. Tonight is the night that we ride. 30 camouflaged Hummers with n-words inside...with choppers...doing surgery on bodies like they're doctors.
Wish you painted it FDE. Then hit the fenders with coyote brown. That would have looked sick. Not a fan of the woodland camo.
