  • Sought out to catch a Tautog and struck out. Wound up with a pile of Sheepshead and Black Drum. I have found out that fish do what ever the heck they want to for the most part. They don't have a mommy or daddy telling them where to be. You can have a plan in mind, but keep your options open and prepare for what ever the day brings! Have fun and stay stress free out there on the water.
    16' Sundance Skiff, 30HP Mercury
Shimano Torium 20HG - Shimano Trevala Jigging Rod 6'6" Heavy, Medium Fast
100 Pound Power Pro, 80 Pound Fluorocarbon Leader
Boil sand fleas until red, cool off and vacuum seal for long lasting freshness.
Catch Mud Crabs under "stuff", below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, oyster cuts are nasty). The purple crabs with spots and striped legs are stone crabs and are illegal to possess.
Catch Sea Urchins on pilings and other structure below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, the spines are non-venomous but can leave splinters and oyster cuts are nasty), I recommend using a crab net.

Like the way you tie your bumpers to protect your boat. And the way you fish the hell out of the water!

Is sheephead biting better in November or December? Just wondering because i came during the summer and it was sad because we mostly caught black sea bass and no sheephead at all

It depends, the bigger fish are here June through October, smaller fish group up in the fall and winter near inlets and can be easy to get. Stay after them!

I was the only one who caught a fish.
Nobody else could catch one, except me.
You know how I did it?
Every time I put the line in the water... I said a Hail Mary, and every time I said a Hail Mary, I caught a fish.

I keep my left thumb on the line, they thump pretty hard. Let them have it for a few seconds then set the hook. Good luck!

I'm at the Beaufort Inlet turning basin but the sheepshead school up this time of year near any structure or bridge near you...Good bait is the key. They feed on crabs (fiddler crabs, mud crabs, mole crabs-aka-sand fleas). Good luck to you sir.
