I've been eating beef, butter, bacon, and eggs for 2 years now. I lost 70 lbs and came off all my blood pressure meds, and insulin for my diabetes. I will never go back, my doctor monitored me every 3 months and was very impressed with my blood work and told me I didn't need my meds anymore.

For a decade I had nothing but liquid stools (sorry for TMI) and for a good part of that decade I had severe abdominal bloating, a lot of pain, weakness, severe fatigue, among many other things. Also, in 2002 I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, type II. So I've been suffering mentally for decades (mostly near-constant depression and anxiety), and physically for a decade. The last several years I felt so terrible that I sometimes wished I could die in my sleep. Particularly after I had tried everything to get better. Doctors were no help, so all I could do was change my diet and try and increase my activity. Increasing my activity never helped, but I always kept at it. And until I tried carnivore (my last option) no dietary changes had helped. But carnivore was the answer for me. The improvements were nothing short of miraculous. I started carnivore two years ago and I feel better at 51 than I did in my 30s. And it reversed my bipolar disorder along with all of my physical issues. I didn't expect that, but that's what happened. The mental improvements just keep coming. For instance I've had a pretty much life-long phobia of bees and wasps. Not a fear, an actual phobia, and this summer I've started noticing I no longer have that phobia. I can kill my own wasp nests and I don't just about break my neck trying to get away when something buzzes by me. I for sure didn't expect that. If you had told me I could have all of these improvements from diet alone I would have laughed at you just a few years ago, but now I'm a believer.
And this is the problem with the health industry preaching a one-size-fits-all. Only the people who are suited for that one way of eating will benefit and it leaves everyone behind. So I hope more people experiment with their diet to find what works best for them.

Veg have a lot of chemicals sprayed on them and built in to the seeds (GMO) so no thanks, I'll take a multi and stick to my carnivore diet. There are no fake foods in my diet, no sugar and no starch.

      @HappilyCarnivore Год назад +1

@@PrinzessKennY In that case it's best to use carnivore as an elimination diet at first. It's usually best to start by just eating beef, salt, and water. I know you said money was an issue, but can you afford ground beef? And maybe there are good meat sales you could watch out for. It's best to eat just beef for 30 to 90 days. Then if you're doing fine on that only add back one thing at a time, starting with meat and animal products. Try each thing for a week to see how you tolerate it. Once you've tried some eggs and other meats you like you can slowly experiment with things like sausage, seasonings, and dairy.

Has far as beauty, with the carnivore way of eating makes a person look many years younger, I've seen it in others and myself. The first three months were very difficult for me personally for a multitude of reasons but after that it was smoothing sailing and I will never look back. Love the way I look, feel, sleep, and the mental clarity, with no depression or sadness. This way of eating for me fixed nail fungus, skin glycation, no more GERD, no gas, no bloating, no more fatigue and a host of other problems are now gone. My pet dogs are on carnivore too. Oh, something else I was so excited about when I realized it -- My eyelashes grew back and thickly!!!! I had a problem for many years of having almost no eyelashes which is a big problem because debris so easily would get into my eyes, now I have eyelashes to protect my eyeballs!!!

For 3+ years, mostly due to being diagnosed with pre-diabetes, I have been eating what I call “ketovore” which is mostly carnivore. If I want non-starchy veg or salad I eat it occasionally. If I want beer, wine or gin and tonic I occasionally have that as well, sticking to diet tonic water and mostly Michelob Ultra when I drink beer. Very rarely, I may treat myself to french fries, sour dough bread or a nice dessert, but not very often-when I do this I go right back to very strict carnivore for several days in a row. This eating regimen has work beautifully for me-I am no longer pre-diabetic, I’ve lost about 80 pounds and I feel better than I have felt in my entire adult life…(I am 68 years old). Since age 25, at any given time, I’ve been from 20-100 pounds over weight-yo-yo dieting feeling terrible most of the time until I discovered that very very low carb eating is a miracle for me. Over the past 3 years, is the first time in my adult life I’ve been able to maintain a stable weight and feel really well. As long as I don’t exceed 20-30 grams of carbohydrate per day I feel well and don’t crave sweets, which are my #1 weakness. My #1 goal has been to reverse my pre-diabetes, which I have been easily able to do, and this will be my #1 reason for sticking with a very, very low carbohydrate eating regimen for the rest of my life. To say it is boring, yes, sometimes it is; but my health is my primary concern.

Once in a while beef hot dog, sausage, pork chop. So i am never bored. I occasionally have a small amount of veg. So technically I am ketovore. I also eat cheese and if I have coffee cream. I feel wonderful. I am in post menopause. I do have insomnia but when I sleep it is deeply. I seldom have a craving. My hair and nails are growing like crazy. I drinks lots of water, but also unsweetened tea. Once in a while a coke zero. I feel great, mostly have sustained energy and definitely notice a huge mood boost. I started keto about 6 years ago and for the last 2 years carnivore. Not terribly strict but I stay away from all grains and vegetables. I will have organic fruit, local when it is in season for me (Pacific Northwest U.S)
Something new I’m looking into is Infridian cycle. How even in menopause women’s bodies follow the cycle of the moon and how for two weeks out of the month we might need a more gentle approach with our bodies.
On carnivore, I don’t miss what I use to crave. My emotions are more stable, consistent energy, weight loss and no bloat as well as the unexpected bonus of no body odor. I don’t need to wear deodorant anymore. Also thinker hair on my head, longer eyelashes. I choose high fat carnivore for the healing and am now ready for alternate days of low fat, high protein to increase weight loss.
When I go off the way I eat for even one day, my joints hurt, I’m foggy headed and very emotional. I’m 8 years post menopause at 51 and I’ve accepted that being carnivore is my normal now for wellbeing. It becomes a way of life like getting dressed everyday. It just becomes what you do. I love eating and I don’t feel deprived. Sugar addiction is real and if I do crave it, usually it is because I’ve let my stress level go beyond what is my personal limit. Like an alcoholic will crave alcohol when their stress level increases, the temptation increases with stress.

About 3 years ago I had my annual checkup and discovered I was pre-diabetic. I didn’t want to go on any medication for it and asked my doctor to give me a month and retest me. I went on Keto and lost 11 pounds. When I went back to the doctor my numbers on everything had greatly improved and she was shocked. She asked me what I had done. I told her I went on keto diet and she asked me to explain the diet to her. She was extremely impressed. I didn’t stay on the keto diet strictly but maintained the concept of watching my carbs. I still would have a little bread every once and awhile. I am like you and not a foodie person and don’t eat till late afternoon, but found the restrictions boring and something I hated following. 3 years later I am still not diabetic but I do kind of stick to the keto guidelines on my carbs. I might take one day a week and splurge and eat just what I want that day. I think it taught me some good habits on what I consume but I could not live my life on being so strict.

He was diagnosed with Type 2 so decided to get healthy - he started exercising daily and drastically cut down on his food intake (no special diet just eats about half what he used to eat including his favourite - bread!). He was very overweight and ended up losing about 5 stone. In his case we're both certain it was the weight loss which made the difference. The psoriasis which had been plaguing him for years also miraculously cleared up. Everyone's different and it's finding it what works for you. My husband and I did Charlene Johnson’s Phase It Up diet. Basically you phase your diet: a month of carnivore/high fat diet, then a month of vegetarian diet. And along the way you also introduce intermittent fasting and each month ends in a three day fast, which is optional of course. My husband and I both lost weight, but most importantly, this diet phasing allows you to identify what foods trigger you. Now looking back I can tell you that overall we eat a lot less carbs and we are more conscious of eating good quality food. The program was very educational: all about the science behind digestion and gut health.

I went carnivore this past February 2023. I was having bad ibs from fodmaps. Severe bloat and left side pain with constipation. I had enough and was looking at fodmaps diets and ran across carnivore. It’s been great for the ibs and enough positive affects to keep me going. I’ve also lost 28 lbs and I’m almost my goal weight.
I agree carnivore is BORING. Especially for someone like me who is not picky anyway and will eat anything. But the benefits outweigh the negatives. And at least it’s SIMPLE as far as prep and cooking for my busy lifestyle.
I do think I’ll eventually land at ketovore for life. That seems very doable to me and I hope it eases me through menopause easier. I’m basically following Dr Bright’s recommendations for that.

Exactly what I do!! Except lots of fruit & certain veggies. Through the week I have a salad (romaine, avocado, sunflower seeds, cubed Swiss cheese, sometimes 2T cottage cheese or an egg, with a bit of blueberries & pecans and topped with a dressing I make with good evoo, balsamic vinegar and Good Seasons Italian dressing packet) on the side I seem to enjoy the veggie buffalo chicken patty with melted cheddar. On the weekend I make a pizza on the low carb pita (no red sauce). Or steak, salmon, pork chops, etc. I think everyone should find that healthy meal that you just don't think about through the week and have fun on weekends! I also have low or no sugar ice cream at night. I've been doing this for over 5 years (at goal weight for 4) and it suits me. I totally agree with eat what you want when out to dinner and if you want a piece of cake, have it!! And splurge on holidays.🤍

It eat more meat protein along with a few cooked veg, and eat very little carbs in a day. I have no more bloating, Iess stomach aches, and I lost a few lbs as a side-effect. I could never go down the only meat route either, but I think being in ketosis is healthier for me. My wake-up was realizing that my depression was likely nutritional - and, in my 71 years I have NEVER had a doctor run a blood test to check for nutritional deficiencies! They know about disease caused by nutritional deficiencies - and yet never test for those. They also never test for parasites . . . which CAN be a cause for bloating and stomach issues! And not all parasites are worms - there are micro-parasites that can affect the gut, as well as other areas of the body. Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is to be self-aware . . . I noted that you mentioned your ears and itchy skin being relieved within less than a week - but then you sort of said this diet didn't do anything for you. I'd say it did . . . but because the improvements appear to be minor, and not what you were looking for, they were discounted. It's interesting - one doctor I've listened to was discussing parasites with a parasitologist in Israel and wondered if they might have anything to do with cancer. The Israeli doctor looked at him for a minute, then said, "Those of us who study parasites have suspected/believed that for some time - but you never hear an oncologist mention it!"

We raise sheep and chickens so I started carnivore knowing we had a freezer full of wonderful fatty meats including liver and hearts etc. I added sardines, salmon, beef burger, steaks, roasts, bacon, sharp cheddar, cream in coffee and pork. I haven't been board with a single meal. I still add garllic and onions but that's it along with Real Salt and pepper and I am in love with a dash of cayenne pepper to my morning coffee. I will add a dust of Stevia but keep the coffee bitter because Stevia only triggers insulin if it tastes sweet so a tiny bit just cutsthe very bitter down to a delicious bitter. I'm in my 3rd week and went through a tad of the bathroom issues but not bad at all BUT I was low carb going in so no carb was an easy transition. I've done 2 meals a day for years and I can tell I'm soon going OMAD real soon because I'm never hungry anymore. Stay strong gang, it's all worth it 👍😎👌

I couldn't agree more that everyone is different and what suits one is not the best for all. I am almost 63, and have been a vegetarian for 35 years (NOT vegan). No fish or seafood either, I am severely allergic since childhood. All of my lab #s are excellent at my annual wellness check ups, with the exception of hypothyroidism which runs in my family. I am 15 years menopausal, have never taken any hormone replacement. I do love all veggies and am careful to take in a proper amount of protein. I believe it is crucial to listen to your body and how it responds in order to find the path that makes us feel our best. You were brilliant to record your experience so you could really evaluate how your diet influenced how your body functioned. After scrutinizing the ethics and general well being of fasting I found this to be the answer for me....painful for the first couple of weeks but after that so easy not to eat. Nisha I have exactly the same GI issues as you.
Mine is caused by antibiotic use in the past. It’s disturbed the flora in my tummy and every time I eat anything with yeast or sugar in it I get the horrific bloating and cramps.
I saw an amazing Professor of nutrition at UCL who explained to me that antibiotic use kills off the good bacteria which keeps yeast in check. If you then put yeast or sugar in your tummy it’s exactly the same effect as when you make bread. You add the yeast and sugar and it swells massively before you bake it. Your tummy goes very hard and it hurts, till it is released through flatulence.
Just having used antibiotics three times in your life can give you Candida.
    It absolutely is basic science.
You’ve avoided any foods with sugar and yeast in and this is why you feel amazing.
Not having sugar and yeast stops feeding the yeast that’s overgrown in your tummy.
I know this because It changed my life.
Vegan spreads and cheeses are just full of so many additives that aren’t good for you.
Butter is natural. Vegans should avoid all faux dairy.

My husband stopped getting kidney stones. We eat lots of rice, potatoes, beans, lentils, LOTS of vegetables and salads. No dairy, no eggs, no meat, chicken or fish. We do break the diet when we travel or when we go to restaurants. We both lost weight and look younger. You are so right that most Doctors are ignorant about nutrition and many are overweight.

Also stress can cause bloating. Cortisol is a big problem I think for perimenopause and menopause because of the hormonal shifts and often beij full of adrenalin when we don't even realise it, because we are used to it. I don't think looking at diet is always the only solution. If there is a lot of stress and unbalance in our lived I do believe it absolutely translates to tummy bloating. We get so focused on dietary change and become impatient when there are no results, we forget mood, stress and adrenals and their huge impact. I think there is a term 'cortisol belly', ! . Either way, a body without pain and no sickness or disease is one to be much celebrated. Its important we also never lose sight of that

Hello pretty lovely lady 🌺 May I suggest that you get back on the carnivore lifestyle for a full three months? I feel strongly that your stomach bloating and discomfort will disappear if you allow your system to fully adapt to a clean digestion. Also, who cares if you have a glass of wine or some other drink once in a while? It's no big deal whilst maintaining the carnivore lifestyle. Nothing can be 100% as we are human 🥰 .. I also have bloating a terrible discomfort in my gut which doctors/surgeon want to rip out my gallbladder, but I refuse as I truly believe I can find a way to fix this problem myself and also, will likely have more issues without a gallbladder. Anyway, I've never left a comment for you but I do appreciate your videos and wish you the best.. but please, consider a full three months of carnivore before you give up on it, because I truly believe you will eradicate your tummy issues and also... it is good for facial contouring and added glow 🌺 Ahhh, so much to say.. but I'll let you go. Have a lovely day, Gabriella 🕊️

I rarely comment on your videos but I never miss them. I'll be 55 this fall so I'm a few years older than you and almost 6 years post menopausal so my Mirena IUD has been gone for that long and a little over 2 years ago my horrific bloat started. I've done Keto (9 months was the longest I could maintain that diet and I haven't gone back to it). I did lose some weight, maybe 15 lbs but I wasn't like the people who swear by Keto and lose 15 lbs a month. I am relatively healthy (but overweight...I've struggled with my weight since I was 39. No diabetes, hypertension, none of those comorbidities that get most people, and I don't take any medication except a probiotic daily. I did lose a significant amount of weight a few years back on a calorie restricted diet taking phentermine (which is an awful way to go) but my skin and nails went to garbage and my thick healthy hair started falling out by the hand full. And as soon as I stopped the drug and the huge calorie restriction within about a year I'd gained all the weight back. That's my back story. I was diagnosed with Lupus in January 2018. I have had 2 attacks since December 2017 but don't have the regular problems with it most people with this awful condition have, yet, and I don't take any medication for it. This bloat is KILLING me tho. I was tested for food sensitivities for which I had very few and after going thru the process of eliminating those foods and months of adding them back in 1 at a time, none of them triggered me. I've considered trying carnivore short term like you've done to see if it made any difference in the bloat. I was so thrilled to see this video today. You take such a common sense approach to everything you do and I like that. I do watch a dietary and fitness guy named Vance Sant who talks about metabolic confusion, which is just going back and forth between days where you can eat carbs and days you don't to keep your metabolism confused and keep your body burning fat for fuel, but this is about weight loss for those of us who struggle and plateau quickly on any diet we try and our bodies refuse to give up the fat and weight. I'm at a place in my life where I've made some peace with my weight (I'm currently US size 12, which is big, but not morbidly obese) but this bloat, even from a tiny snack, is driving me up a wall. Watching this video has made me seriously consider doing just what u did. Try carnivore for a month and then do it intermittently. I hope you keep us updated as the weeks and months go on as to how this works for you, if it does turn the bloat around for you at some point. I, like you, am convinced it's probably hormone or food related, but since EVERYTHING I eat causes bloat, I'm more inclined towards hormones. I'm not a big eater. I don't crave sweets. I practice good portion control and although I like food, I don't love it and don't consider myself a foodie. I eat when I'm hungry and I eat slowly so I don't overeat. I'm out of ideas to stop this miserable bloat. Please keep us updated on your journey Nisha! We're out here paying attention and there seems to be a lot of us in your boat! ❤

I've been on this carnivore lifestyle eating plan for two years and before that, ketovore for about three years. At 67, I take only one med and it's for hypothyroidism that I've had for over 20 years. I am normal weight, no digestive issues, easy to manage. I am 60 lbs less than when my thyroid was diagnosed about 22 years ago, no trouble maintaining it at all. We eat grass fed beef, eggs from our chickens, bacon and real butter, some pork as well. Doctors rarely know anything about nutrition, sadly, so I have quit asking them. I did go on ketovore because of the advice of a very much loved doctor of mine, though sadly, she passed away suddenly in 2020. I credit her with getting me started. She was a rare one and I miss her. Everything we've been told since the 60's is a lie promulgated by Big Pharma and the food industry like that we need fiber to eliminate. Fiber is what causes so much bloating and other digestive issues, completely unneeded. Good for you, Nisha! ~Cynthia (aka Front Porch Wig Chat)

I’m stunned, Nisha, that you had not been referred by your GP to a NHS-hospital gynecologist like I was. Mine is amazing. She took much more than the usual 10min time to talk about it all (I, too had a good prior body of knowledge from Barbara Taylor, and was so happy to see my gynecologist agreeing!) and put me on HRT five years ago. We have yearly review chats, unless I need her help sooner which so far was not needed. HRT gave me back my will to live.

I've tried it and it was just fine, lost some weight but I have now happier on keto. Mind you I eat more meat and protein than vegetables and carbs now. I prefer a surf and turf for dinner. I also eat lots of eggs. I have cholesterol issues but this has not affected me at all.

Do you take cholesterol tablets...I tried all the diets for ages, then my doctor said, some people are just that way and medication is better than clogged arteries....so now my cholesterol is fine and I just pop my pill each day for it and stopped worrying 👍

Maybe your diet is "ketovore" 😊 Whatever it's called I'm glad to hear you are currently on an eating plan that works for you. I think "eating to live and not living to eat" is a pretty important attitude toward food! Be well 🙋

It's so interesting how we all react differently to different ways of eating. Regarding your bloating... In my experience, it's very often a disbalance in your gut microbiome. Unfortunately, not a lot of doctors even consider the influence of our microbiome. My friend bloated after basically every meal especially after veggies and fruit. She started drinking kombucha which contains a lot of good bacteria for the gut. She is now drinking 8 oz every day and her bloating totally disappeared. Maybe it helps you, maybe it doesn't but it's so easy to give it a try and see for yourself. Good look on your journey!

I assume you have been checked for IBS? I had similar problems, ended up in hospital, and was diagnosed with this. It helped to learn what I could handle. I love salads but to eat too much would irritate. I hope you’ll find the answers you need to feel much better soon. Thank you for all you share to help us all. You’re so smart and so wise. 💕😊🌷

I have been eating keto/low carb for 5 years. Low carb veggies, meat, and berries occasionally. I have no menopause symptoms now, with no aches and pains. I make chaffles(bread replacement) in my mini dash, egg, and mozzarella cheese. There are a lot of ways to make them. It is nice with tuna salad or a beef roast dinner. You just have to try different recipes and cook for yourself it's usually best, but most people these days can't commit to that.

Has any doctor or specialist talked to you about Candidiasis? I had it and I was put on a strict diet, lots of salads. If I had a sandwich it had to be whole grain bread with meat. I could only eat certain fruits but basically any food that fed yeast in my body, I had to stay away from and all my bloating went away. I also felt amazing. I also had to stay away from dairy. I was on Nystatin from an apothecary for a year. It was pure Nystatin. Occasionally, today, I know if I have had too much sugar or carbs by my stomach or if my skin itches.

Hi Nisha, that was a refreshing insight from yourself about Doctors not being on the ball unless they take a keen interest in certain aspects of nutrition!!...The best people to determine what they need is US!!!...doctors mainly just give their take on it and perhaps are too keen to put us on medication!!!...I am sure my GP hates me as I will always question everything!!! you have to .......I have autoimmune problems, but, I cannot eat a lot of meat it makes me feel unwell!!..I prefer softer food like white fish, & chicken...I cant eat a lot of salad as my gut does not break it down enough!! but I love cooked veggies!!!...I think your bloating maybe more hormonal !!!I had issues with that myself but I am now post menopausal (aged 66).....I think my advice would be to eat what suits you....I love bread too...but I dont eat too much of it!!!....it is a little fattening for me!!!...anyway it was a great talk & I am so glad you have understood that Doctors are really only guides for certain health issues & we are the best advocates...and yes youre right ..whatever study is going on depends on the almighty $ it is all to do with funds & what needs more money putting into ...we have that here in Australia....I think they think the public are stupid but we certainly are not!!!! anyway until your next video .....thank you for a very interesting topic!!!...cheers from Margaret in South Australia!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this video and appreciate your honest review. I am 52 and need to lose 15-20 pounds but I have always been a foodie who lives to eat and sticking to any sort of limited regime just makes me depressed and hungry for bread, crisps and chocolate. I have tried vegan, raw vegan, juice fasts etc and the only thing they did besides make me miserable was mess up my digestion for months after. I am now trying to get into carnivore but it really is so boring. After a day or so the meat sticks in my throat and the thought of more egg makes me feel nauseous. The sugar cravings have been insane and I have not made it through the first week without some sort of “cheat” every day. 😢

I've been 95% carnivore for almost a year. I would agree that it's boring with a capital B, but after years of a vegetarian and other low-protein diets, I am committed to a fatty meat-heavy diet for the rest of my life--for my muscles, for my bones, for immunity...I will not, however live the rest of my life without some variety. My digestion is excellent and always has been. I've lost a few pounds and my hair is growing like crazy. I'm hoping for more improvements down the line. Thanks for your review.

    Hi Nisha!!
I guess you could call me a Ketovore... I can't just do meat.. although I do ALOT of meat and fat... I just eat 1 ingredient foods like our ancestors did before they created processed foods!.. I lost 13 dress sizes in the first 8 months and have maintained this size for the past 3 1/2 years... your body KNOWS where it's supposed to be and I just trusted the process... I am pushing 60 and I feel better now than I did when I was a teenager!! (If that tells you anything!)
I thought it was only about losing weight but what I didn't realize is that I also lost pain, inflammation, my depression and anxiety!.. I gained better mental clarity and have more energy than I sometimes know what to do with!!..My muscles are stronger than ever (because of the protein)... It all started that it would be a 2-3 month trial since I have tried almost every "diet" in the book... but had turned into my lifestyle when I started reaping the benefits from it! I no longer need any kind of medications whatsoever, not even over the counter ones.. it was the BEST life decision I ever made and no longer have to live with the carb crash!
Potatoes used to be my favorite food but now instead of a loaded baked potato at a restaurant, I use steamed broccoli instead of the starch.. I still get it loaded with butter, sour cream, bacon, shredded real cheese and spring onions... I really don't miss the potato!
Thanks for sharing your journey Nisha, even if it was a short one... if you would have done 1 or 2 months more, you would have become "fat adapted" and really started to feel more benefits...
Much success and love to you in everything you do!
