Make your own character, some plot about how your character is a chao raiser, and boom, out you go to start your own Chao Garden, raise, breed, discover new types. You run around doing quest or some other mechanic to get rings, animals, items to sell, etc. More Chao activities other than racing and karate. New Chao types and forms. More hybrids, colors, patterns. Special Chao you can unlock and breed into more special Chao. A virtual pet app would be fantastic, as well! But I hope it’s full price, because it would be agony having to constantly play and stop because your own of energy and either have to wait hours or pay with gems to continue doing your stuff.
Hell they could even replicate the GBA jewel Chao by making them unlockable in the mobile ports of the classic games. Beat a game and you can transfer a jewel chao into the garden app. Gives incentive to buy the ports and to quote EA "a sense of pride and accomplishment" but for real.
Well Sega made the shadow dlc for forces free, I think they'd make the more important stuff free like tails, Amy, and knuckles Chao but special toy's and stuff would cost money, bit maybe special stuff could be free for a month before needing to be bought
I currently have a breeding program of creating the all-S chao just to destroy the competition on that game. They all however like the same fruit and have the same personality. Yes, there was incest involved, but that's what happens when you breed for desired traits.
The fact that Chao Garden hasn't been in a Sonic game in 16 years is absurd. I have put in like 100+ hours in SA2 and I still pop in one in a while on my GameCube save that I got when I was like 4. Seriously Sega give us Chao Garden.
You really have to wonder WTF Sega thinks they are doing? They had the PERFECT way to instantly boost a Sonic game's replayability by adding the Chao guarden but they just stopped using it after SA2. Which is strange because they didn't ditch the Sonic Adventure Formula until the failure of 06 ... because Sega are morons and couldn't figure out why 06 failed and decided to spend the next decade throwing out Gimmicks hoping one would stick. But seriously Sonic Colors was probably the PERFECT game to bring the Chao Garden back for. I have a Chao that I've raised since I was 7 years old. I'm turning 21 soon. I found out about chaos chaos late in high school and now my Chao is technically older than my parents in Chao years! Since then I've bread two all S chaos and made them chaos too. The Chao garden will always have a special place in my heart as SA2 was my first video game ever.
I swear we bred versions of chao no other person had. Once you start making translucent chao (invisible + gold = partially invisible), the possibilities are endless! I would always spend hours on the GBA maxing out the chao's stats to completely destroy all the other chaos in competition. I really, really wanted a chao-specific game. No sonic, just chao.

As a 10 year old kid I was obsessed with the near-infinite variety of chao you could breed and have. My favorite was my alternate-color flying hero type chao that had a deep purple body and gold highlights. Literally spent over 1000 hours of my life in the chao garden as a child and I don't regret one instant.
God I remember being a kid, I didn't have sonic advance, so i had no way of getting jewel chao. I really wanted one so I could breed with a shiny for the mythical *translucent chao* but my friend who had one refused to give it up. As I grew up I finally fulfilled my childhood dream. And even as an adult, I still go back to see my translucent neutral chaos chao

If Sega were to remake Sonic Adventure. They should have the Chao Garden have the features from the Chao Garden in Sonic Adventure 2. Maybe include the Taxman & Stealth remakes of Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles (Albeit with different music for Carnival Night, Ice Cap and Launch Base Zone), and CD as unlockable games.

I remember hatching an invisible chao. It was just a pair of floating eyes and wings. Very confusing at first... The translucent two-toned chao were cute, too! I think 166,299 is still too low of a number for the possibilities of chao types you can get given those glitchy chao.
God, the time I spent farming levels for animals and breeding the perfect chao in all color options (two-tone whites were my favoriteeeee) - to date I still think SA2B has more hours in it than any other video game, and I logged 1300 hours in The Sims 4 this year alone (among countless other games)
I may have spent more time playing in the chao garden then in the actual story in my original play through of SADX and I have no regrets. It was fun getting all the different colors and types and breeding them.... and throwing the eggs till they hatched..
Know what's funny? I was so obsessed with Virtual Pets at the time that I bought a Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure BECAUSE of Chao. I HATE Sonic! But I love Chao. Shoot I actually bought a Japanese VMU and downloaded Chao Adventure to it off the Japanese version before the Dreamcast ever even hit the states! I kinda hated SA2 though because the Hero/Dark thing kinda punished me for petting my Chao. Either way I'd LOVE for Chao Garden to return as like a separate app that connects with various SEGA games. How cool would it be if every time you bought or played a new SEGA game you got more stuff for your Chao Garden. "Nice highscore in SEGA AGES Space Harrier! Have 2000 Rings!" GELTONZ how did dark/hero system punished you for petting a chao? it just meant more chao variants. god the first time i tried making Nights chao, boy i made a txt file documenting my every interaction with it with any character to make sure its gonna be neutral.
The hero/dark system was in sonic adventure 1 as well it wasnt something newly introduced how ever it was easier to control in the first game as once you had all three gardens unlocked you could use any character to access it. Which made controling what influence was affecting the chao's a lot easier so you didnt always have to spend rings to get the hero fruit. But in sonic adventure 2 you kinda got what you got.
@@NoraIconiq Hero/Dark system was only in the DX versions of SA1. Hero and Dark chao did not exist in the Dreamcast version of SA1. There is flat out no way to obtain Hero or Dark Chao in SA1 Dreamcast.
@@KOTEBANAROT Because SA2 was kinda annoying when it came to wanting specific types of chao since you have to use specific characters to make either a hero, dark or neutral. It was all about which characters you used affected the chao's alignment and what it will be when it evolves. So you had to be very careful if you wanted specific chao. Wanting a neutral chao? Better remember to constantly switch between a hero and dark character every time you come to the garden to raise it's stats with whatever animals and chaos drives you got. Raise it too much with hero and it becomes hero, raise it too much with dark and it becomes dark. So it was annoying that simply raising it with different characters affected it's alignment constantly. Unlike in SADX where they made it easier as the characters themselves do not affect it's alignment, you just have to feed it special fruits as a baby from the Black Market to get Hero or Dark. Want a hero just feed it hero fruit. Want a dark just feed it dark fruit. Want a neutral just don't feed it either of those fruits. Even when they reincarnate they are reborn close to the alignment they once used to be so you don't even have to constantly keep feeding them hero or dark fruits. Unlike SA2 when every time a chao reincarnates you have to be careful with which characters you use so you don't end up with the alignment you didn't want it to evolve into.
it makes me sooo happy to see someone else who was obsessed with the sonic adventure games like i was and spent so much time on them.. once my sister and i devoted an entire summer to raising all three chaos chao. we would put them in the corner and stand to block them so they couldn't drown (we were afraid they would get upset with us and then not reincarnate) and then leave the game on for hours. chao are so amazing!
The Chao were my favorite parts of the SA games when I was younger, they helped me a lot because I didnt really have many friends and I played them all the time. I really hope Sega brings them back somehow

So funny how I'm seeing all this new SA2 content while I'm replaying it. This game was such a huge part of my childhood. Playing it and raising chao takes me to my happy place and helps me deal with how stressful my adult life has become. I just bred a trio of all S rank shiny chao and I'm working on turning them into each type of chaos.
I loved the Chao garden so much I remember family coming to the basement and thinking their was something wrong with me, specifically when my brain was fused in the Chao garden for hours of course.
The chao garden, besides content creator videos and memes, is the only interaction I've had with sonic games. Back in middleschool, my friend's younger brother created a Chao for me and he managed it. When ever I went over to his house, he would show it's progress.
I played Sonic Adventure Battle 2 for the chaos alone!! FOR YEARS. We need them back. Thank you for this video the Chao Garden meant a lot to me as a child as well.
Chao Garden was a *brilliant* way to give the SA games replay value. Not only did it give you a reason to keep playing to collect the different Chao colors/varieties, but it also kept you playing the action stages to collect drives and animals to boost their stats. I hope they bring it back one day :(

I feel you I am 34 now and when i was a lot lot younger i invested at least a few hundred hours into chao's. My buddy rebuilds old systems and sells them he didn't know anything about any of this. So thank you for the video it covers a lot of everything he could do to help people get the equipment to start fighting chao's again.
I love sonic adventure 2 I played all day because of the Chao garden I enjoyed it so much I didnt like the DX version as much. In fact sonic adventure 2 was my first sonic game it made me love sonic. Since my parents were strict I had to sell my xbox for the fact that halo was a shooting game lol so I ended getting a game cube and got sonic with it i lover that game and played through it so many times ugh I want to play it again

See when I was REALLY young, I had Sonic Advance. I loved the Tiny Chao garden, but I didn't understand how most of the mechanics worked. I took care of it for YEARS until later on I got Sonic Adventure DX. When I found the 3D garden and learned that I could transfer chao, I went into a frenzy trying to find that copy of Sonic Advance. With all the time I spent on it, I had created a Super Chao with a massive fortune of rings. Good times were had. . .

Chao were honestly the only reason I played Sonic Adventure 2. My brothers had already beat the game while I watched but we spent a bunch of time getting all the immortal ones or breeding Chao that looked like Sonic characters since we couldn’t get the real ones. We still make jokes about this one really fat and slow chao we had. It’s honestly just a great memory.
I LOVED CHAO GARDEN! Thank you SO MUCH! I've wanted to remember what sonic game it was for years! I really really wanted to play it for years as well because I only ever experienced the chao by way of my friend's game. I do hope that the garden from adventure 2 comes back in some capacity. It probably won't so imma go find a let's play of the game for some vicarious reliving of the good old days.
God, I loved the Chows! I only played the first Sonic Adventures, but I think I spent more time on the Chow Garden than I did playing the actual game... They were adorable! I think the most important part was that you could make them so happy, and I loved that! So cute! ^^
This vid gave me a flashback to watching my brother play in the Chao garden for so long and after weeks and weeks of love and care the memory card corrupted and he lost his little buddies. He was so upset and I was so upset for him but if I told anyone else they wouldn't understand why it mattered. Such a unique and sad shared trauma me and my brother have together. Chao World was incredible for me as a kid too, and even now I wish they would make another incredible sonic game with this incredible little world in it.

"Balan wonderworld" just came out and was made by the people that made Nights into dreams, and features a chao garden-esq overworld hub where you raise "lums" between levels.
Fun fact, xbox one's backwards compatible version of sab2 has bugged version of shiny + normal chao resulting in a brand new range of chaos called luminescent chaos, they basically look like they glowing an the super reincarnation chaos come out completely different then normal
I would be a really different person if I didn't realize my love for raising Chao. Something about seeing these little things grow up and change still stirs my cold and jaded heart. Sega needs to bring this back in some way or another, for sure.
I remeber going to the thing to release your chao in the wild and it would make me almost cry at just the idea. I'd never release my chao no matter how much he lost in MMA fights against the watermelon chao.

Know what's funny? I was so obsessed with Virtual Pets at the time that I bought a Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure BECAUSE of Chao. I HATE Sonic! But I love Chao. Shoot I actually bought a Japanese VMU and downloaded Chao Adventure to it off the Japanese version before the Dreamcast ever even hit the states!
I kinda hated SA2 though because the Hero/Dark thing kinda punished me for petting my Chao.
Either way I'd LOVE for Chao Garden to return as like a separate app that connects with various SEGA games. How cool would it be if every time you bought or played a new SEGA game you got more stuff for your Chao Garden. "Nice highscore in SEGA AGES Space Harrier! Have 2000 Rings!" "Thankyou for buying Yakuza 7, here's a Majima suit for your Chao!" I've never wanted such a flagrant marketing tool more in my entire life.
GELTONZ how did dark/hero system punished you for petting a chao? it just meant more chao variants. god the first time i tried making Nights chao, boy i made a txt file documenting my every interaction with it with any character to make sure its gonna be neutral.
The hero/dark system was in sonic adventure 1 as well it wasnt something newly introduced how ever it was easier to control in the first game as once you had all three gardens unlocked you could use any character to access it. Which made controling what influence was affecting the chao's a lot easier so you didnt always have to spend rings to get the hero fruit. But in sonic adventure 2 you kinda got what you got.
@@NoraIconiq Hero/Dark system was only in the DX versions of SA1. Hero and Dark chao did not exist in the Dreamcast version of SA1. There is flat out no way to obtain Hero or Dark Chao in SA1 Dreamcast.
@@KOTEBANAROT Because SA2 was kinda annoying when it came to wanting specific types of chao since you have to use specific characters to make either a hero, dark or neutral. It was all about which characters you used affected the chao's alignment and what it will be when it evolves. So you had to be very careful if you wanted specific chao. Wanting a neutral chao? Better remember to constantly switch between a hero and dark character every time you come to the garden to raise it's stats with whatever animals and chaos drives you got. Raise it too much with hero and it becomes hero, raise it too much with dark and it becomes dark. So it was annoying that simply raising it with different characters affected it's alignment constantly.
Unlike in SADX where they made it easier as the characters themselves do not affect it's alignment, you just have to feed it special fruits as a baby from the Black Market to get Hero or Dark. Want a hero just feed it hero fruit. Want a dark just feed it dark fruit. Want a neutral just don't feed it either of those fruits. Even when they reincarnate they are reborn close to the alignment they once used to be so you don't even have to constantly keep feeding them hero or dark fruits. Unlike SA2 when every time a chao reincarnates you have to be careful with which characters you use so you don't end up with the alignment you didn't want it to evolve into.
it makes me sooo happy to see someone else who was obsessed with the sonic adventure games like i was and spent so much time on them.. once my sister and i devoted an entire summer to raising all three chaos chao. we would put them in the corner and stand to block them so they couldn't drown (we were afraid they would get upset with us and then not reincarnate) and then leave the game on for hours. chao are so amazing!
The Chao were my favorite parts of the SA games when I was younger, they helped me a lot because I didnt really have many friends and I played them all the time. I really hope Sega brings them back somehow
I was literally obsessed with breeding unique chao back when I was twelve years old.
I remember when I was 7 and my favorite chao red died and I cried for three days I remember my mom trying to tell me he wasn’t real and it made it worse... good times..
So funny how I'm seeing all this new SA2 content while I'm replaying it. This game was such a huge part of my childhood. Playing it and raising chao takes me to my happy place and helps me deal with how stressful my adult life has become. I just bred a trio of all S rank shiny chao and I'm working on turning them into each type of chaos.

Chao Garden made me put hundreds of hours into Adventure 2, always wanted it to return as its own fully fledged Chao raising game.
I loved the Chao garden so much I remember family coming to the basement and thinking their was something wrong with me, specifically when my brain was fused in the Chao garden for hours of course.
The chao garden, besides content creator videos and memes, is the only interaction I've had with sonic games.
Back in middleschool, my friend's younger brother created a Chao for me and he managed it. When ever I went over to his house, he would show it's progress.
I played Sonic Adventure Battle 2 for the chaos alone!! FOR YEARS. We need them back.

Chao Garden was a *brilliant* way to give the SA games replay value. Not only did it give you a reason to keep playing to collect the different Chao colors/varieties, but it also kept you playing the action stages to collect drives and animals to boost their stats. I hope they bring it back one day :(

I feel you I am 34 now and when i was a lot lot younger i invested at least a few hundred hours into chao's. My buddy rebuilds old systems and sells them he didn't know anything about any of this. So thank you for the video it covers a lot of everything he could do to help people get the equipment to start fighting chao's again.

I love sonic adventure 2 I played all day because of the Chao garden I enjoyed it so much I didnt like the DX version as much. In fact sonic adventure 2 was my first sonic game it made me love sonic. Since my parents were strict I had to sell my xbox for the fact that halo was a shooting game lol so I ended getting a game cube and got sonic with it i lover that game and played through it so many times ugh I want to play it again

The only thing I got from this is there more chao than pokemon.
Chao Garden defined my childhood, alongside my sisters and friends we all played and invested countless hours into the game. Would love a Chao Garden app or even a full game, would be an instant buy.
See when I was REALLY young, I had Sonic Advance. I loved the Tiny Chao garden, but I didn't understand how most of the mechanics worked. I took care of it for YEARS until later on I got Sonic Adventure DX. When I found the 3D garden and learned that I could transfer chao, I went into a frenzy trying to find that copy of Sonic Advance. With all the time I spent on it, I had created a Super Chao with a massive fortune of rings. Good times were had. . .
Thank you for this most people talking about these games don’t even mention the chao garden yet I remember more about the chao gardens then anything else in those games lol.
Chao were honestly the only reason I played Sonic Adventure 2. My brothers had already beat the game while I watched but we spent a bunch of time getting all the immortal ones or breeding Chao that looked like Sonic characters since we couldn’t get the real ones. We still make jokes about this one really fat and slow chao we had. It’s honestly just a great memory.

God, I loved the Chows! I only played the first Sonic Adventures, but I think I spent more time on the Chow Garden than I did playing the actual game... They were adorable! I think the most important part was that you could make them so happy, and I loved that! So cute! ^^
This vid gave me a flashback to watching my brother play in the Chao garden for so long and after weeks and weeks of love and care the memory card corrupted and he lost his little buddies. He was so upset and I was so upset for him but if I told anyone else they wouldn't understand why it mattered. Such a unique and sad shared trauma me and my brother have together. I wander if he remembers.

Makes me cry manly tears to think about the current state of our blue boi. I dont know who worked on SAB2, but they crushed it. We need those guys back, they really knew how to handle a 3d sonic. Chao World was incredible for me as a kid too, and even now I wish they would make another incredible sonic game with this incredible little world in it.

I was a huge sonic nerd as a kid so none of this was new information. But it was still nice to hear someone else geek out and go as in depth as I once did.
"Balan wonderworld" just came out and was made by the people that made Nights into dreams, and features a chao garden-esq overworld hub where you raise "lums" between levels.
Fun fact, xbox one's backwards compatible version of sab2 has bugged version of shiny + normal chao resulting in a brand new range of chaos called luminescent chaos, they basically look like they glowing an the super reincarnation chaos come out completely different then normal
I would be a really different person if I didn't realize my love for raising Chao. Something about seeing these little things grow up and change still stirs my cold and jaded heart. Sega needs to bring this back in some way or another, for sure.
I remeber going to the thing to release your chao in the wild and it would make me almost cry at just the idea. I'd never release my chao no matter how much he lost in MMA fights against the watermelon chao.
Also, I want to shout out a really awesome game called Niche (it's on Steam) for anyone who really misses their childhood chao fix - cute little creatures, all about breeding them to fulfill your whims with tons of appearance variants!

I've only ever played through Sonic Adventure 2 once (through the GCN port), and yet, Eggman saying "Yosh" while petting a Chao has stuck with me.
