- My kids and dogs are growing, so this is how I made more room in the cab of the truck - by kicking the dogs out, but giving them a cozy, safe place to ride.

Awesome little vid. Am working on a design for the back of my jeep, I am a falconer and need to separate the dog and bird for hunting trips, plus room for the gear. Ya bit of a tall order but vids like this and camp kitchen builds are helping with design and design ideas.
I love how what most people would just go out and buy you decide to build and always make something really cool. I enjoyed the way you edited this one, for some reason I felt like we got to see more of the actual build process. Also enjoyed you leaving in the outtakes 😂 And yeah, had no idea you had a second channel!
More often than not I start out looking at what's commercially available and decide nothing quite covers all my expectations.
I figured this wasn't too complicated construction-wise, so I decided to go with the minimum voiceover - which is much easier for me! My kids said it was too much shop noise, but what do they know?

Ha... lots of good easter eggs in here. We built a thing sticker on the fence of your table saw... a tape measure recommended by Steve Ramsey... and a comment below from Drew at Fisher's shop (BTW - how I discovered your channel)... all very cool. I look forward to the updated canine transport vessel... and hope you secured it to the vehicle (God forbid there is a sudden unplanned event). Bought some merch to help support the channel. Also makes me realize I need to train my dogs more - I could barely get them to sit still long enough to film putting a collar on Jackson the other day haha. And those outtakes haha!

I had 2 dogs at my parent's farm that used to get crazy when someone grabbed some cord or a pair of boots... Because they knew they would go for a ride together! 😂
I used to ride a horse there a lot and go everywhere... And they were always with me and the horse! 😂
Today my parents are older, so we don't go there very much, so we don't have dogs anymore. After all, they need care and so on. So now, here in the city, we only have 3 cats. 😃

Can't really tell, can the bed cover be used with the dog box in. Not that I would use it when there are dogs inside but if I didn't want to take it out every time and wanted to protect other things in the pickup bed.
Glen that is an excellent question! Early on that was plan for that very reason, but as I went along I decided it would just be too short for the dogs to sit comfortably inside. It was have been tight but acceptable for my 45 pound spaniels, but with a few labradors mixed in with my hunting crew, I decided to make it a little taller.

They were in the hardware isle at Home Depot. There was a large and a small size. They are actually supposed to be used as an inside corner support, I just flipped them to protect the outside corner.

lol, yeah I didn't bring my interpreter so I was lost on that one! Its been a hot and humid summer here like always. I'm actually heading back to Wyoming soon for a hunting trip with friends. I'm just along for the hike - not hunting myself - but it's been too long since I've seen a mountain, so I can't wait!

i would of just get a cap for the truck be better and work better
Cap doesn't work for everybody
With a topper on the truck, I would still put the dogs inside a box like this. There is just too much space in the bed of a pickup and it's not a very safe place. In the event of a hard corner or slamming on the brakes, they could be laying nicely then get launched several feet across the bed before slamming into the other side. If there's other stuff in there it becomes that much more hazardous.
