Okay, so Ponyphonic is singing this. Right? His voice. Luxurious. Captivating. Heartfelt. Never mind the lyrical manner he's prone to, which is expressive and complex in a way that identifies the subject matter emotionally and explicitly, this rocks the barn in a way I never expected. Bravo, and bravo again. The moment I think I've lost my sense of musical appreciation, in as much as I label and judge harsh in an ignorant fashion, here comes something decidedly country AND pony that stirs me right in a direction I never saw coming from a mile away. Yeah. Love it. Brilliant. Thank you! So happy.
Well, to be more clear, the writers often make her bizarrely overbearing and/or insane as in "Apple Family Reunion" and "Somepony to Watch Over Me". Episodes like these go completely against her earlier characterization. So, ignoring these weird idiot ball moments, she's great.
ponyphonic I don't even consider "Somepony to Watch Over Me" a canon episode to the series. Applejack may not be perfect, but anytime I have to apply the word *obnoxious* to her means that she is thoroughly out of character and being untrue to who she is. I didn't have a problem with "Apple Family Reunion", but I understand entirely if others do. I felt her actions were fairly understandable, but she *was* being a bit more oblivious than she should have been. All that being said, other than "StWOM", season 4 felt like it might as well have been called Applejack season ^_^ I loved it.
This would be a great song with which to serenade Applejack! Though once it ended, she would probably just put her foreleg on you and say, "That was the creepiest thing I've ever heard."
Ponyphonic... You know, you're the first musician I show people when I introduce someone new to the fandom. The Moon Rises, Lullaby for a Princess, and Harmony Ascendant are my favorite songs of yours. When I think Ponyphonic, I think emotional choral music with beautiful string and piano melodies. I admit, I was taken aback when I heard that harmonica playing at the beginning. But come that gospel choir in the chorus and wooooo! I do declare, there's none who holds a candle to your musical mastery. I'm curious to know if you create music as your profession. Do you have any dreams or goals that are music related? I sort of have a head-canon that you really want to write music for Disney movies so you write songs that are Disney-esque (Moon Rises, Lullaby for a Princess) and show them off in your portfolio to the Disney execs. ...Oh dear, is it weird to have head-canons for real people? Er... Uh... *puts on earphones and continues listening to Applejack song*
shieldgenerator7 I don't know. To me, Headcanon is a little bit more than just an assumption. Assumption sounds like something you passively believe without giving it much thought, whereas Headcanon is more active; it's something you've spent a bit of time thinking about, and it's something that is often shared with others. Maybe it's a bit closer to a theory, but it's a bit more than that too. A theory would be an idea you have which you think _might_ be true but can't confirm or have yet to confirm. Headcanon is more something you have consciously decided to believe and accept as true in the absence of any information which might prove or disprove that belief. The idea of having "headcanon" about an event or person in a real life setting is kind of strange, mostly because I'm not quite sure what Headcanon would mean in the context of real life. In fiction, Headcanon is something you personally believe about the fictional world, but which can't be confirmed by the accepted "canon" works about that world. Headcanon is able to exist _because_ the world is fictional, and anything outside of the limited set of canonical works which have been written does not and can not exist outside the minds and imaginations of those who viewed or created those works. Therefore, your idea of the people, places, and events in a fictional world might be different from mine, and in the absence of a canonical source there's really no way to determine whether any one person's version of a fictional world is any more or less "correct" than any other person's. To make matters more confusing, it's even possible for headcanon to contradict the source material. The "Han shot first" meme in the Star Wars fandom is an example one such headcanon. This headcanon has become quite widespread, even to the point where it threatens the very status as canon of the material it contradicts. So what would headcanon be in reality? I'm still not sure. Given that the "source material" of reality is all-encompasing, it's difficult to find a situation where a headcanon about reality couldn't be confirmed or denied by the source material. Aside from that though, the term headcanon strongly implies a work of fiction, and I'm not sure it even makes sense to use the term outside that context. I guess in the case of the OP (Fable Charm), the term is being used to indicate a theory the OP has come up with, and chosen to believe _for fun_ in the absence of information _immediately available to the OP_ which proves or disproves said theory. In that sense, I suppose the term is applicable. If any of those conditions were not met (e.g. the "headcanon" wasn't created by the OP for fun, or was created in the presence of strong evidence for or against it which was known to the OP), I'm not sure the term would still apply. In this specific context though, I think it makes sense. (Sorry for the word wall, I just found the topic really interesting.)
Andrew Meyer Oh wow, that really clears up what headcanon means. Thanks for that. I guess I was more or less saying what the counterpart to headcanon was in reality, tho now that I think about it, "assumption" is not really the counterpart of "headcanon". "Beliefs", maybe? "Hunches"? "Presumptions"?
shieldgenerator7 Yeah, I'm not sure there is any other single word which fully captures all the connotations and nuances of the term "headcanon" (which makes sense, because if there was such a term we wouldn't have any need for the term "headcanon" in the first place). I think in the OP's case, "theory" is closest (though not exact, as I discussed in the second paragraph.) Honestly, I don't think headcanon really has an exact counterpart in reality. The terms you mentioned are pretty close, but IMO they don't fully capture the connotations of the term. Specifically, they don't imply that the OP has chosen that belief for fun. Also, those terms would all indicate that the OP has an actual belief about reality, whereas "headcanon" implies a more imaginative aspect to the whole thing. Hey! I think I've got it. How's this? "I'm curious to know if you create music as your profession. Do you have any dreams or goals that are music related? I *like to imagine* that you really want to write music for Disney movies so you write songs that are Disney-esque (Moon Rises, Lullaby for a Princess) and show them off in your portfolio to the Disney execs." That phrase "like to imagine" comes pretty darned close to capturing what headcanon is, IMO. It's something that the OP has chosen to believe for his/her enjoyment, and it recognises that the OP's belief is only applicable to his/her own mind, not to the established "canon" or in this case "reality".
After all these years, I still come hear to listen to this song. And I'm not in to country at all. But I the song is so catchy. Long befor it was offical, I know the early earthpony would be like vikings, and wen it comes out I was not even suprised but I was party hard. And I love the character of Appeljack the most.
The Ballad of Applejack's Last Roundup by Donn DeVore is pretty good, too, if you haven't heard it. Oh, and The Loyalest and Most Dependable by Acoustic Brony. I'm reaching back about three years for those two, though, so yeah, we need more country!
big e Hm, I wasn't aware of WoodLore previously (largely because I'm currently off of pretty much all other social media and haven't really kept up with things on EqD), but he's got some good stuff. Thanks for mentioning him! :)
big e Oh yeah! Woodlore, Luna Jax, and 4everfreebrony make some pretty good brony country tunes. Mandopony sometimes even makes country music. And it's not like some of that non-countryish "country" they play on the radios these days
That harmonica intro always gets me, and I just can't put in words how much I love this. This is the stuff that I just keep coming back to and can't get enough.
I feel like the last line should have gone like this: Tell me that she feels the same way that I do I'll be her sugar cube she'll be my apple pie! Just my opinion. :)
This is such a sharp, sweet contrast to your other music. I love being surprised by musicians who turn around and show a side of themselves they've never shown before. Thank you!
The Moon Rises, Lullaby for a Princess, and Harmony Ascendant have by themselves come close to motivating me to trying to put together a full real-life stage production of a musical focused around the Sisters. This song makes me want an Applejack musical. please ponyphonic i can't much more of this i'm begging you
Ok, how have I not found this before, this is the best country song (I'm calling it country anyway) I've ever heard, it has amazing lyrics, a catchy tune, amazingly brisk pace, and a true country flare, if I could have one wish, it would be to have everyone hear how amazing this song is, you sir are amazing
Man, I wish I heard this song sooner, this is a great song about Applejack, my personal favourite pony and done in country style, which is my favourite music style too. Love this song, great work. :)
Every song you put out is of an unmatched quality. You are the most professional pony band "on this side of anywhere" :D Thank you so much for all your hard work and incredible music!
Really terrific song. I've been on a classic country kick lately (60s, 70s, and some 80s) and I'm glad to see some serious well-done country come from the fandom.
O.o... I have to say I'm just loving this Americana type music, which is saying something as I'm not usually a fan of this type and yet I'm already on my 10th time listening to it after just finding it today... so kudos. Thank you for tributing such a great song to the best pony!! I'm glad someone else sees her in the same light as me, I've heard one too many complaints and I do declare that she has always been my favorite pony who tells it like it is, that blond, freckled, green eyed southern saint! :P sorry couldn't resist just some awesome lyrics that describe her perfectly. Though I have to agree with Rod, I think it would be awesome to see a video of you singing this. Again, thanks for such an awesome song! :D
So you now have a song for both Twilight and Applejack, and they are both excellent. Are you planning on doing a song for each of the mane six? I hope you do!
Reminds me a lot of "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meatloaf. That same sort of twangy, airy instrumental with gospel choir and strong lead vocals. It's awesome!
This is again another song that I can't get out of my head. Ponyphonic you sir are a boss, keep up the great work sir. And I think I speak for everyone when I say GIVE ME SOME DOWNLOAD LINKS.
I'm gonna _start_ my comment with the TL;DR: This is amazing. I really enjoy country, and AJ's my fave (I mean, look at my channel name!), so to have both of them in a song done by y'all is awesomesauce. Longer version: So, real talk: I find a good chunk of the songs you've put out on this channel so far to be above much of the rest of the pack in terms of quality. Now, I'm not knocking the work that so many other artists have done, because there's a boatload of music in this fandom, some of which is stupidly catchy, (more than) sufficiently rockin', or just outright groovy. However, there's a certain finesse, a certain touch that much of your work carries that sets it apart in my mind. So I guess higher-quality isn't even really what I mean so much as distinctive. Many people (including myself) seem to agree, for example, that "The Moon Rises" and "Lullaby for a Princess" sound like they'd be perfectly at home in some sort of Disney production and, indeed, evoke some of that Disney wonder from our subconscious. That's not something that I can say I feel about almost any other fandom artist's work. This song doesn't strike me in specifically that way, but it's still got a unique presence to it. Probably the closest thing I can think of is "The Way She Flies" by Phileo, which is about Rainbow Dash and is tuned to her lyrically and sonically in a way that's similar to what this song accomplishes. Even then, I prefer this effort. Now, moving from general praise of your work to this song in particular: After a bunch of "best background pony", it's always nice to see Applejack get some love (especially since she's my favorite). And that's just generally speaking. *This*, on the other hand, *_THIS_*... Whoa. Oh my goodness. WHOAMYGOODNESS. This works on so many levels. I love the overall feel of the song, and you've done superbly in tailoring pretty much everything about it (genre, diction, character description) to her. Speaking of the genre, it's executed smashingly here, and we could certainly use some more country in this fandom's music. So, thank you all for making this! This is now and will likely long remain among my favorite songs to come out of the fandom.
Right now I've got this freaking big smile on my face and there's no way it will go away for the next couple hours. This is pure gold guys. Thank you so much 8'D
Ok, so one of the best brony musicians in the entire fandom has written a country love song to Applejack... literally my favorite character in all of fiction and very *NOT* guilty nor even remotely apologetic crush ever since I discovered this show. Yeah, yeah today is a good day ^_^ A very good day.
I have no idea how i discovered this song so late and with the end of the series. I have been enjoing this song on repeat for awhile now, It's fantastic and phenomenal. Music from this fandom has always been amazing and it's a treat to find older songs or videos. /) Brohoof to all my fellow bronies that will stay with the herd.
OMG your Voice is so beautiful! you did really really good on this song hell the first few times i couldn't even listen to the words cause how beautiful your voice is!
If I could subscribe or like more than once both the buttons would be broken, I LOVE your work SO MUCH!!! It's just too good for no-pony to listen to at least three time over :D keep up the charming songs!
I don't know what makes me happier. A song dedicated to Applejack, or finding out that she's his favorite, too....
You know, this song is perfect because, out of context, it sounds like it could be about practically any country girl.
Less than a million views? Criminally underrated. This is one of the best fan songs ever, lyrically and musically.
unknown gem
Wait... an Applejack theme fan-song that praises Applejack... I LOVE YOU PONYPHONIC!!!
We need more love for background pones! ... too early?
+Klobi for President Applejack is one of the Mane 6... but given that she is the straight mare of the is an easy but unforgivable mistake
William Tate You know this is a very old joke, don't you? I think they even asrewss it in the Elements of Harmony book, ...
Oh my God, it's fan made music that's actually country; good country, at that.
+Dusty Pinecone Check WoodLore. The guy makes awesome country.
Octavion Demi Nicolas Thanks for the heads up
It is country and without a deep voice! Wut?
YEAH! It's really nice.
idiot
Still my faveorite Ponyphonic song after all these years and IMO the best fandom song, it's sadly very unknown
This song is still such a banger, everything I loved about Applejack is in those words.
This song doesn't get as much love as it deserves. I know this has been out for a while but I still believe it's a tune that's a time traveler.
Okay, so Ponyphonic is singing this. Right?

Twifight Sparkill I love your name XD
I sense, not implying anything, just a gut feeling...that your fav. pony is Applejack.
Posityve Oh, maybe :) Yeah, when her character is written properly, she's awesome.
That is a statement impossible to disagree with.
Well, to be more clear, the writers often make her bizarrely overbearing and/or insane as in "Apple Family Reunion" and "Somepony to Watch Over Me". Episodes like these go completely against her earlier characterization. So, ignoring these weird idiot ball moments, she's great.

Werewoofy Eh, Applejack felt stagnat as a character in much of Season 4.
Ponyphonic has one of the best and most beautiful voices i've ever heard
very true
This is the best tiny horse music I have heard all year.
Anybody else get the feeling the more times you listen to this song the catchier it gets?
After some years, yes, definitely
This would be a great song with which to serenade Applejack!
Though once it ended, she would probably just put her foreleg on you and say, "That was the creepiest thing I've ever heard."
Jeez, you can switch genres faster than the Kardashians change clothes! This is amazing!
Ah, another Ponyphonic classic.
Taking a nostalgia trip through my "Fav'd Music" playlist. This one's a f'n banger. 💗

Real life Headcanon? xkcd.com/1401/
I think those are called assumptions.

I LOVE THIS! AJ is best pony, hands down!
Don't you mean "hooves" down
+Brad Treais Touché.

Agreed
Don't you mean best background Pony
Hallelujah!
Amen to that :)
I can see Trenderhoof singing this.
I started thinking of him not too far into the song; I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I'm an applespike shipper so I think Spike would sing this
This reminds me so much of Elton Jon and some of his old music. Just absolutely gorgeous work here.
Sorry, I just found this comment... Thank you so much! Tumbleweed Connection was a huge inspiration for this song. Elton is the absolute best.
This MLP Country song is the closest thing to real country that I've heard in the fandom so far. We need more Country!!!!!!!
The Ballad of Applejack's Last Roundup by Donn DeVore is pretty good, too, if you haven't heard it. Oh, and The Loyalest and Most Dependable by Acoustic Brony. I'm reaching back about three years for those two, though, so yeah, we need more country!
***** P.S.: Oh gosh, has it really been that long since those songs were put up? Time goes by too fast. T_T
I'll give those a listen, and yeah we need more country. Woodlore is pretty good. If that qualifies as country. Lol
big e Hm, I wasn't aware of WoodLore previously (largely because I'm currently off of pretty much all other social media and haven't really kept up with things on EqD), but he's got some good stuff. Thanks for mentioning him! :)
big e
Oh yeah!
"Take me! ... on down to your farm, girl!"
xP
This folk.
My god.
I love you.
Oldie but goodie.
I feel like the last line should have gone like this:
Tell me that she feels the same way that I do
I'll be her sugar cube she'll be my apple pie!
Just my opinion. :)
I love country songs like this so much! AJ is the best country mare.
800 people "liked" this song and 8,000 have listened to it. Hmmm... I'm thinking that 800 people have listened to it about 10 times each!
I wouldn't doubt it!
Well, I wrote that when it first came out. Yes, he did a GREAT job on this... I completely agree!
I never expected this! It's got the polish of the Nashville Sound with some southern gospel, it just feels so old fashioned! Superb work!
I don't know why I haven't heard of this until now. APPLEJACK IS BEEEEST PONY. i am so happy you made this. Favorited and liked. Thank you.
And you've done it again! Definitely worth the wait. It's about time Applejack gets some love!
I know, it is 3 years old, but I still love it! It is the perfect song for Applejack!
This is such a sharp, sweet contrast to your other music. I love being surprised by musicians who turn around and show a side of themselves they've never shown before. Thank you!

Banger of a song 10/10
Behold, the anthem of the apple-lovers
(all hail farm-lord AJ)
Still good after all these years.
Damn it pony, why are you making me fall in love with this horse?!
Why aren't you more popular?!
Because too many bronies have no taste. lol.
@@Ragnark1 smile hd?
Country reinforced with some bluegrass and finished with a hint of gospel.
My ears thank you.
I really enjoy MLP and Ponyphonic songs but it’s still weird to think this is a love song about a horse.
True and true but ... they are interesting
I can imagine Caramel singing this in the show. Well done.
Man, I wish I heard this song sooner, this is a great song about Applejack, my personal favourite pony and done in country style, which is my favourite music style too. Love this song, great work. :)
Excuse me while I play this on loop for the rest of my life.
Why the hell is it that I fall in love with every single song you produce this isn't fair no please keep up the fantastic work!
This is the best applejack themed song ever. You are so awesome, and you rock, Woo hoo.
You've out done yourself this time, this is awesome. I think applejack is 20% cooler now, thanks to you and this song. You rock woo hoo
Yeehaw, I reckon this takes the cake as one of my favorite southern love songs. and I do declare this should be at least one verse longer than it is.
Every song you put out is of an unmatched quality. You are the most professional pony band "on this side of anywhere" :D

...Applejack would never leave her hat on the ground, unattended!
So you now have a song for both Twilight and Applejack, and they are both excellent. Are you planning on doing a song for each of the mane six? I hope you do!
The fandom needs more country and Americana music. Great stuff!
awesome as always
now to wait to see what videos people make with this song :)
This would be great with an animation to go with it. A stallion expresses his love for Applejack as he prances about Ponyville.
When this song came out, I added it to my main playlist and after all this time, I'm still listening to it 8) This song is amazing.
I know exactly what you mean.
Perfect song for one of the mor developed background characters! Keep up the great work!
Reminds me a lot of "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meatloaf. That same sort of twangy, airy instrumental with gospel choir and strong lead vocals. It's awesome!

I really do love your choice of chords in the pre chorus. This song develops so well and really is enjoyable. Your voice is very versatile! Bravo!

Applejack’s the best
Right now I've got this freaking big smile on my face and there's no way it will go away for the next couple hours.
This is pure gold guys. Thank you so much 8'D
I'm not an Applejacks fan but that was amazingly awesome and make me feel like going to the south
*IT’S THAT DAY OF THE YEAR BOIS*
This is so different from many of your other songs... but awesome all the same!
Could be a typical country song even, mlp unrelated. Shame that I haven't seen it around much :(
Ok, so one of the best brony musicians in the entire fandom has written a country love song to Applejack... literally my favorite character in all of fiction and very *NOT* guilty nor even remotely apologetic crush ever since I discovered this show.
Yeah, yeah today is a good day ^_^ A very good day.
I usually hate this kind of country-style music, given my past, but this...God this is amazing.
I always look forward to your songs, each one's a gem. Worth the wait!
