I really hope ACME is able to up their production in the future. They seem to be incredibly well made shoes without the astronomical prices these usually have.

I agree on the second part, but I don’t really want them to increase production. They’re a small workshop which already produce shoe extremely fast. Asking them to do it faster or increased volume is only setting them up to be forced to either hire more craftsman they may not have otherwise, or push the existing worker harder. Either way it lends itself to lower quality output.

@@Shellvedge Absolutely! I've heard that they are struggling to find skilled enough craftsmen to work for them. Hopefully that changes, so they are able to increase production without reducing quality.

@@norwaysgateway I’m curious, have you had trouble ordering a pair? I’m trying to understand the push to increase production. They make bespoke shoes in a matter of months. Other makers are 2 year waits for mto orders.

Lovely shoes and a great review. Would you consider a comparison video between this pair and your Meccariello STD’s?
    Thanks for the great content.

Wonderful review! I’m loving the channel and hoping to try ACME next year. Question about fitment. I’ve had shoes that flex on my toes, big toe particularly to a point where it’s not comfortable walking. Is this because of bad size? Or bad shoe??

I was actually just talking to a friend and Antonio meccariello about creasing in general. There are so many factors that go
Into it, but if it’s causing pain, that’s typically due to a less than idea fit or pairing with the last.

Did you supply them with outlines and dimensions of both feet?

Hey! Great question! I did not for the first few pairs. I have just now shared my tracing and measurements because the pattern we’re working on is a slip on so it really needs to be perfect.
My thought is if you think you need to because you have difficult feet, it may be worth going with the MTM or better yet just start chatting with them and see what their guidance is

You did good job making this video! Don't pay any time to those strange picky noises, they appear everywhere.

You have a slightly too-optimistic view of your too-expensive shoes. There's a wear crease on the right shoe but almost none on the left; the apron of one shoe reflects light differently from the other so that the left shoe appears darker than the right when they're side-by-side and then when the angle of view changes, the colour shifts so that the other side is darker.
Your delivery needs some polish. You should never record yourself sniffing, for example.

Yeah, I hear you. I’ll start with a quick reaffirmation of a point I made in the video, this shoemaker isn’t for everyone because it’s a lot of money, but when you’re at this level of skilled craftsmanship and footwear, it’s about 1/3 of the price of the same quality shoe made in Japan, and about 1/5 the price of the same quality shoe made in England. Creasing, I mean shoes crease, crease patterns are strongly influenced on the wearers gait, the fit, the environment of wear (getting in and out of a car, pivoting as you sit or stand, etc). The crease is no reflection of the quality of the shoe or leather but a sign of wear. As far as the color scale, I’d redirect you to the video about shell cordovan and the part specifically about the table color effect. But even without that in the conversation, shell cordovan is a material that has wide ranging depths of color in the material which when under production style lighting, it will reflect it differently and show the depth of the pigments in the material. Shell is a pit tanned but brush dyed material so it is much different than a drummed dyed leather. When showing off the shoe from angles under strong videography lighting, it’s completely different than when you’re wearing them on your feet in standard conditions. As far as sniffing and the delivery, I appreciate the feedback. I definitely look to improve with each video, but I’m positive of my priority when it comes to what my focus is, and that’s providing accurate information that I have and think others will benefit from or find informative, respectable visuals to convey the in person experience and good quality sound that doesn’t impede the information from being delivered. A sniffle or a cough is at the lower end of that priority scale for improvement, although eventually I’d love to have perfection across the board. Hope that helps. Appreciate the comment!

@@Shellvedge A sniffle or a cough requires a second take, come on. The competition is fierce in the shoe-vid world and little acts of negligence toward your audience like that aren't cool.
But about the colour shift, isn't it because the makers didn't match the direction of the gain (or nap) in the two aprons? When you lift the pair up at the heels, the viewer's left shoe goes darker while the right goes lighter, yet they're both under roughly the same studio lighting conditions.

@@errolmacdonald3256 a few aspects but, I’m not really comparing or competing with anyone. If there was someone presenting the information, and experience I was, I wouldn’t be doing content about it. My purpose is to cut through the fancy pretentiousness others offer, while they are light on facts, experience and relatable consumer experiences. If you think you can trust the word of someone who got a free pair of $1000 shoes to give you what it will be like to actually be a customer of the maker, I think you surely mistaken. In an effort to make this response a little more concise, for me, I’m only doing pieces of content I’ haven’t seen done before or haven’t seen done with factual information before. So in full transparency, if a viewer is just interested in the visual/audio and doesn’t care the quality of the information being delivered, I’m probably not the guy for them. From a color shift perspective it should be cut and built in a way so when the shoe is on the foot, and you’re looking at it from eye level, not at eye level with the shoe, it should be even in shade of color. But again with shell, there’s no nap or gain, it’s an extremely dense porous flat fibrous muscle that will always have a color scale. The lighter the color the more prevalent because there’s nothing to hide the variation. If you’re looking at black, color 6, 8, 16, dark cognac, this will be less noticeable. But every pair of shell I have has this to one degree or another. And this pair I’d say is mid to low end of the scale for how noticeable. Believe me, at this price, if I thought they didn’t cut this in the right direction, or it was out of the norm for variation, I’d let them know, and I’d be the first to admit it. They had to remake another pair for me, so I’m not opposed to requiring better when it’s warranted. Here, it is not.

@@Shellvedge I'll accept what you say about the colour shift but I have to reject "...if a viewer is just interested in the visual/audio and doesn't care about the quality of the information...' because a shaky, jerky video detracts attention from the info and can even be just plain uncomfortable to focus on, and b) the standards have been set by others and you will have to rise to them if you want to be seen and heard over the long term. If not, your channel will wither away. Now stop arguing and pull your socks up.
